as far as guns go, if a person has a criminal record, any mental issues and not a US citizen they shouldn't own a gun.

I already thought that people deemed mentally incompetent were not allowed to own guns.

"The 1993 Brady law prohibits gun ownership by individuals who have been involuntarily committed, found incompetent to stand trial or otherwise deemed by a court to be a danger to themselves or others."
