???
-
july 14, 1930
-
i think Flex claimed it was anywhere from 1930 to 1936 or 37.
-
lol he looks a little pale maybe that comes with age along with losing every single muscle on your body.
-
Is mr. Beckles still alive?
-
Yes he is. I read in flex that he was working with Quincy Taylor
-
1938
-
Not sure, but he did sign the Declaration of Independance.
-
Not only is he alive, but he is training with 130 pound dumbbells on the flat bench. I can't honestly say that I have picked up a pair for that exercise yet at 24 years old, well, mainly because the gyms I go to only go up to 120s, but as it is now they do the job just fine, so for Albert to be using the 130s for reps at either age 67 or 75 is extremely impressive.
Honestly, how many people on here can claim they are using 130s for reps? It's not the best lift in the world, but by no means does that make you a slouch either, and as a senior citizen? Very impressive.
the only guys that old who could handle that kind of weight were probably John Grimek or Karl Norberg.
-
Is Albert natural nowadays?

Beckles is one of my favorites. A real inspiration. How about Ed Corney's triceps kickbacks with 130 lb dumbbells at 72! :o

8)!!

matt, do you find my pic amusing?
I find yours just as fun to look at.
I mean, it does look like someone wiped their ass with your face.
But that's just me...

Matt C is a loser... Check out this quote
" I can't honestly say that I have picked up a pair for that exercise yet at 24 years old, well, mainly because the gyms I go to only go up to 120s"
Thats cuz he uses 50-60 lb dumbells MAX...

shut up you fucking idiot, 120 lb. db's is damn good weight for any type of press, i'll gaurantee that Matt uses 60's for flyes easy.
-
people act like 120 lb db press is something most people warm up with or something. using that kind of weight for a natural that isn't built like a lineman is great for any age. even the more well-built guys at most gyms top out at the 100s.
-
Really? Very impressive.
It's on his site and I would say BS, but this is Ed Corney and there's no way I'm questioning that guy's motivation/ability to go heavy. That guy's a fukkin god.

240, how do you know this is Matt?
-
thought roark said it was '37, why don't you believe him?
-
Matt has a huge collection of pics of him available on his website.
where? I'm stupid and can't find it :P
-
Not sure, but he did sign the Declaration of Independance.
Right their with John Hancock! ahahahah!

That's not MattC is it 240?

Flex mag said it was one of the dates already listed - Beckles refuses to say which one . . .

I can't believe that's the same guy from this picture. They look very different. Well I'm sure you're right that he shouldn't be talking shit about anyone else. Out of curiosity, can you match any of your pics with Matt's muscularity below?
-
the other one's probably many years old. 240's just mad because he still looks as bad as the shittiest pictures we have of him, and because his best pictures are from flex when he was a kid and was just skinny instead of being fat and skinny at the same time somehow.
so, he rips on everyone based on completely outdated pictures of them. i guess it makes him feel better.
-
1915 the same year Rhino was born

Vicious stuff, but maybe he deserves it.
-
240, what's the big deal? ??? I post your pictures in jest. It's just some harmless ribbing. I don't see why you find it so offensive. Mainly because you yourself have done so to others.
I understand that some take it too far but this is hardly the case here. Call me if you need to discuss this, I just don't understand the harm in that pic.
Are you saying that 240 is melting down? ???
-
surely Reg Park could handle the 130s in his 70's, he was stronger than Grimek and one of the first guys to ever bench 500 and over
I remember Flex years ago saying Clint Eastwood still used 100lb dumbbells which is very impressive also

Bullshit, absolutely fucking bullshit.
-
Monster meltdown. ???
Monster misinterpretation.
I am proud of my pics. I'm just jealous I don't look as good as this sexy creature!
-
Clint could lift 100's with his toes.
-
Bullshit, absolutely fucking bullshit.
which part?
-
which part?
Clint Eastwood chest pressing the 100's at 70 ::)
-
its true, honestly. Reading it in Flex is almost as good as seeing it with my own eyes. Im telling you!
-

Actually it didn't specify what age Clint was, just a "few years ago". I can easily see him doing the 100's.

;D ;D ;D ;D Who needs eyes when you have Flex? I'm tearing mine out!

CBI: The New Yorker recently claimed that, at the age of 73, you can still bench-press 200 pounds. Can you?
CE: I don't lift to see how much I can lift anymore, but, back when I used to keep tabs on that sort of thing, I was able to bench press more than 300 pounds.
Now a 300lb flat bench easily equates into pushing the 100lb dumbbells.

do they do Flex in braille? ;D

Did you read what it said? He used to use the 100's but he hasn't recently.

No, I missed that but it really doesn't change anything. Clint said he used to, and the original quote (of the above post) says "I remember Flex years ago saying Clint Eastwood still used 100lb dumbbells". So a few years ago he could press the 100’s, and that is pretty impressive being he was probably in his 60's.

Clint dwarfs you :)

True enough. He's taller than the average man. :D

True Albert beckles story, it was the eve of the world pro show held on the gold coast of aussie, cant remember the year must have been 12-14 years ago , gary strydom won , robbie robinson got second , any how i was sitting in my apartment and the phone rings, it was Albert , he introduced hymself and said he had been giving my number by some one, I was like realy , shit , albert beckels , any how he wanted lasix , for which i did not have any , never had used it, any how i rang around a few mates and managed to get some for him which i delivered to his hotel room, we sat and chated for a while , he even asked what i thought of his condition !! the next day he looked awesom , and we caught up again back stage , he was a nice guy and very appreciative of the help , which i was only to pleased to do !!
-
He liked Lasix, AFAIR, he was hospitalized once.
-
Matt, will you be entering the Bob Chick/Manion contest?
-
Is mr. Beckles still alive?
Isnt he george washington carver's twin brother?

Clint Eastwood couldn't lift the 100's off the rack now or ever, he was tall and skinny as the day is long.

Hahahaha...I do have to agree with you, I don't think a 70 year old Eastwood is going to be throwing around the 100's. ::)
-
But just by one long ass intense stare at you sarcasm and he can make you run for your life just like in the old west.

Hahahaaha...Clint wouldn't even have to reach for his gun ;D

hehehe as soon as Clint even comes into the same room sarcasm's bodyhair (he doesn't have hair on his head) would go up and he would have goosebumbs and shake from terror. lol

I've been in enough gyms through the years to see what guys claim is an acceptable range of motion using dumbbells in the incline and flat. Anyone can grab the big weights and do partials. No where is this more evident than in squats and the leg press. When 140lb high school geeks load up a 1000 and do partials claiming to others they use 1000lbs in the leg press,it makes me laugh.
