Does anyone remember this guy?
-
Yeah, one time in the early 80's Frank got mugged and got all sliced up by some thugs with knives! But he came back and returned to competition.
-
I certainly remember Frank. Yes he got badly beaten and then again suffered some major Trauma in the late 80s - think he was stabbed.
Tenth at the 85 Olympia and then 3rd right behind Gaspari and Mike Christian at the 86 spring shows (what are now the Arnold and the Ironman) and then 3rd again at the 86 NOC.

you can remember the weirdist things.
;D

Yes you're right Matt - he got beaten in 88/89 and the previous Trauma was an industrial accident. I don't recall exactly what.
I started following bodybuilding when I joined Getbig in 2004. Before that I had no idea what it was, I just thought I was gay.
-
Frank looks kinda rusty.
-
weedouttheweak strikes again.
Don't you feel strange posting gay pictures while you're at the library sitting next to the old man that's learning how to use email? Do you look around nervously to make sure no one is watching?

Frank fell from a girder while working on a construction site........broke a ton of bones but came back to compete successfully once again.
Got mugged years later and was in critical condition, but came back to compete again also.
I do not know how tall he is!! :)

I must've gotten my dates mixed up (the mugging happened later) but Frank was obviously a tough sumbitch!
-
dude had some big ass legs.
-
as someone mentioned earlier, Frank broke his back in an industrial accident he came back and did quite well for a little while, he grabbed 3rd place at the 1986 pro world behind Gasapri and Christian, he was known for his hardness, he was almost as hard as Gaspari.
I know he did the 86 olympia and he's on the 1987 NOC tape that I have-died his hair blonde-besides that I don't really know his competition history.
-
If I recall correctly Frank fell off a ladder or a telephone pole like 30 feet or something ??? I remember reading something like that years ago !
-
He and Platz were "Mr. Jaws"
-
Seems like he has been largely forgotten :-\ Glad you guys remember him.

I remember this guy named Titus and he had a drug addict staying at his house and... well, it's a long story...
-
I remember Frank. For some odd reason I also remember that he can not bend his wrist from that accident. I think it is the left.
-
Remember this guy.Broke several bones (back & neck?) in his body after being involved in a work related accident where he fell from scaffolding if I remember correctly. As a result had several steel plates & rods inserted in different parts of his body. Was quite an inspirational story in the way he came back to compete after said accident.Looked very good too for what he went through w/the accident.
-
Frank regularly MC's shows here in Ireland. Helluva nice guy. He still works out and is still a big man but these days spends more time fishing with his Grandson.
-
Frank also couldn't turn or bend his left wrist because of the accident. I remember how he used to train around that.
-
When you know his story, you`ll realize why he is one of the most inspirational bodybuilders ever.I`ll find an article i have and post it for you Matt. Its true that he was attacked whilst out at a restaurant with his wife by a gang who he had thrown out of a club he used to work at,they hit him with baseball bats and slashed him with knives. He did a couple of seminars at the gym i trained at in the 80s,and we all stayed behind till 2am talking about when he trained with Arnold, after that every show i went to,if Frank was there we would just chat at the bar and took no notice of the contest. The nicest guy in this sport i`ve ever met.

Here`s the article.

Hope the text is clear.

The text is too small to be clear,so i`ll type what it says.He was working on a railway track, and 25 foot up,a cable snapped and he fell to the ground. One foot hit the rail and was severed, with just the tendon holding it on,the other leg was broken, his left hand was shattered and his ribs pierced his lungs. His legs and arms were held together with a system of bolts, and his wrist fused together, thats why he can`t bend at the wrist. After 13 months he took his first steps and his ankle snapped and he was back in hosptal for more operations.
That should fill in the missing gaps.
