RIP KEITH!

RIP KEITH!
He seemed worlds away from his wild image in real life.very nice, soft spoken and friendly away from the stage.Have to wonder what made him do it, fame, money etc and still felt the need to end it all at 49.

RIP. Their music played a role in my childhood.

he always said he would check out when he felt the time was right

was he saved?
-
Who?
-
Bah, it’s not like he was gonna write Beethoven’s sixth symphony. Writing a song called Smack my Bitch Up sounds like he was trying really hard to be gangsta.
-
These two songs, and "Breath" are 3 of my favorite cardio songs. Never liked "Firestarter" much, even though it was their breakout and got me interested enough to check them out. They were just so different for MTV, that it got overplayed IMO.....ruined it for me. :'(
"Smack My Bitch Up" has an awesome NSFW vid....only aired on MTV a couple of times after midnight, but I don't have a YT account so even if I found it I couldn't watch it to make sure it was the right one to post here.
"Narayan" is so cool to listen to when you know you're hitting a wall doing cardio The beginning the lyrics push you, and at around 4:15 I'll just go backwards on the elliptical once it slows for a bit, and just take it easy the rest of the song....it's like doing yoga and cardio at the same time. :) Then I'll play to "Breath" followed by "Smack My Bitch Up", and then a few Lords of Acid songs when I'm in the mood for that type of music. Cardio is a breeze on those days.
RIP Keith! You were probably a weird dude, but your music helped me get through the part of working out I hate! 8)

"If you believe the western sun
Is falling down on everyone
You're breaking free and the morning's come
If you would know, your time has come
If you believe the western sun
Is falling down on everyone
And you feel it burn, not try to run
And you feel it burn, your time has come
I feel it...
I feel another energy
I feel a power growing
I feel another energy
I feel a power growing
I feel another energy
I feel a power growing...."

Like the song and the video.

Will Allah grant him a place in Jannah?
-
I saw them live back in the day and Keith Flint flipped out on some guy and chased him around the mosh pit. None of us knew what the fuck was going on but it was awesome.
RIP

They didn't write the lyrics. They are from a sample.
The original meaning of the sample was from a rapper, and were very misogynistic (shocker ::)). If you listen to the song, how it flows, and the part of the sample they use; you realize that their intent of using it was the following....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smack_My_Bitch_Up
"The lyrics "Change my pitch up / Smack my bitch up" are repeated through the whole song. The band defended the song, saying that the lyrics were being misinterpreted as misogynistic and the song actually meant "...doing anything intensely..." "
A better way to listen to the song Mothballs to understand how they used the sample's words to mean this musically would be to start listening not from the start, but at 2:50 in the video I posted above.
There's really no lyrical message in the song at all......it's all about the mood of the music combined with that sample's words that has the meaning.

That's a hilarious story! I wonder what the hell made him do that (other than what he was on), and if there is video of that somewhere?
-
yeah maybe somebody in the mosh pit carried a video camera and recorded the whole thing

The lyrics were about heroin. In the UK heroin is referred to as "smack".

I really don't remember what the twist was, just that it was very drug trance like and going through a club. I think I might actually have a registered YT account from years ago, but I need to figure out how to get into the email it's linked to. I'll try to find it if I do, as it was a cool vid.

Twist was that it was a hot woman not a man

We saw a person partying like an animal, fondling women at clubs, drinking, using drugs, throwing up, picking home prostitutes etc
You thought, normal behavior for a partyanimal. You've done the same/similar.
Then at the end, there was a twist, the person stared into a mirror.
It wasn't Billy Mimnaugh at all!

Dang.. Chester Bennington last year and now Keith.
Guessing the drugs had to do with both of them commiting suicide.
