Title: Bought A Bowflex M7 Maxx Trainer Today
Post by: Vince G, CSN MFT on April 29, 2019, 07:24:55 PM
Because I have very limited space in my home, I got rid of my Schwinn Elliptical and purchased a Bowflex M7 Maxx Trainer.  Lot better on my joints and it's as compact as an exercise bike.

Any opinions???

Looks pretty solid. I have found stationary trainers work for weight loss if you go for 30 min at least 3-4 days a week. You can get aerobically fit on as little as 10 minutes though- but it has to be very intense, short bursts. That shorter type of workout won't make a difference in weight loss though (no matter what any study says).

Yea...I'll try the 14 minute program but I'll  mainly do 1hr sessions on it.

Vince exercise equipment is only good if you use it.

Case in point, Basile's bicep supination machine. Its a PHENOMENAL piece of modern engineering BUT because the average gym cant get their hands on it its useless.

The equipment must be used to be effective.

True. If I might enter one piece of advice. Make it a habit to use it but don't make every workout hellish or soon you will be missing workouts.  Build up the intensity but once you are doing hard workouts don't make it an every workout day thing. Meaning have easier days. Mix up the program. Long low intensity, intervals and some 20 minute burn outs.  Just make sure that every workout isn't a max.  It's a sure road to making that thing a coat hanger. Sometimes consistency will take you further than two weeks of hell and then missing workouts.

Nothing wrong with it but with limited space why not just buy some dumbbells?

Already have some....I used to be the top seller of Tumbobells Adjustable Dumbbells...sold about 20k units back in the day.

Weights are great to have but you need some cardio stuff to.

I did...was going to order the m8 but I happenned to walk into a Play It Again Sports and found this one....it was hardly used...very expensive coat rack for someone and it's still under warranty as I checked the serial number.  Paid 1500 cash for it and it will be delivered Friday.   Feels great on my joints

I have more than enough space in my home.  The only thing I would even consider expanding would be the patio outside for a hot tub but that would be it for the most part.   I got the home at the price I wanted and I'm able to put away real savings for the future

I had to google it.  Is that a hand bike crank on the side?

It actually looks pretty damn cool, durable, and  it's very compact vs. an elliptical.

I have a Precor EFX 5.23 I got from a rich couple whose husband was pissed off that the wife never used it, and the kids were old enough that they were starting to climb on it.

It's not the shitty less sturdy version of that model that they made to be more affordable for a few years there for $2800.  Having worked at the gym for so many years I know the right people often times it seems, so I went to the dealer to check how old it really was and the rep was a friend of my old training partner.  I asked him if it would be covered under warranty if I bought it second hand.  He said only if you have the receipt.  I replied, that I needed a mat if I were to buy it......"one just like that!"  ;) He asked me the last name of the person, and said if it was delivered and installed I should buy the mat.  It was.  I did! ;D

Paid $900 for their $4800+ coat-hanger/jungle gym, and in case anything goes wrong I have the receipt with my "ex girlfriend's" name, number, and address showing "we" purchased it. 8)

Haha I googled it as was expecting some fatass lazy negro shit more suited to obese old ladies who want to kid themselves that they are working out but it actually looks like a decent bit of kit.
I’d still rather walk the dog though

Stop being mean...for now.  This is a big moment for Triple V!

His schmoeflex is cool and all, but now I'm fascinated to know how the fuck you do that "tm" and to the 3rd power thing on your keyboard?  I'm easily side-tracked....(and amazed apparently ;D)

Schmoeflex™
We get it--you figured out how to make the trademark™ symbol. Change it up and use 0169 next as we've all grown tired of seeing it.

Might want to bump it up to 2 hours.  The 1 hour session doesn't seem to be doing much.

Like the toilets in Oz, the Basille bicep supinator only allows backward motion reps in the northern hemisphere. FACT

I didnt just buy the M7.  I contacted DC who is getting some more Metabolic Burn...in addition,  I cancelled my membership at 10 Star and went back to Sportclub of Greenville along with getting back my personal locker.  I stayed in shape at that time more easier because I had all the amenities at my disposal... swimming pool, hot tubs, steam room, sauna, raquetball courts, tennis, massage and physical therapy.  So I went there everyday and that pretty much what I'm doing right now.  With all of my stuff in my locker, I just bring a towel and clothes.  It's easier to train when it's not a pain in the ass to haul around stuff

Bought a Maxx Trainer a few years ago when I first moved into my apartment. It's supposed to be low-impact, but I think it messed up my knees and ankles. Now my cardio options have been reduced quite a bit. I may have to learn how to jump rope.

Sounds like the plan Vince . Training at a nice facility helps with training consistency.

So, how smooth is the motion on this Bowflex M7? I was thinking of getting one, but wasn't sure about it.
Thanks.

Very smooth...my schwinn elliptical was better but I needed a compact macine

You KNOW the fantasy image of being with him , alone in a hot tub caused you to rub one out. ;D

What kind of getbigger doesn't fantasize about being impaled by the Mighty Mr. Goodrum?

What's the footprint of that thing?  The Precor I mentioned I have takes up 7' x 3.5', and of course that means I need spacing to get around it.  All told it's more like 8.5' x 4.5'

Damn..that's 183 MONTHS of gym dues for me@ 12 bucks a month.
Almost 10 locations--8 of em have HUGE pools..saunas..whirlpool ...steam room..literally THOUSANDS of classes monthly..most are well over 80 thousand square feet..2 are over 100 thousand and 8 of the ten are open 24 hours.  Plus for all you horndogs out there, you'll be happy to know that every stripper/ COCKtail waitress/ nighclub hostess/pool girl and prostitute goes to an LVAC somewhere in town.

Yes, saves a huge amount of time and money plus it's more convenient.
