Legalize it. And, before you ask, I do not smoke weed.

Legalize it.

At the same time the government is trying to discourage smoking tobacco - and outright banning smoking in many public places- they want to add smoking pot to the repertoire. You gotta love the hypocrisy. ;D

How is this hypocritical?

How is this hypocritical?
While the government is attempting to stop people from smoking or inhaling (tobacco), they want to legalize another way of smoking (pot).
Contrast the move to ban on flavored E cigarettes over fears young people will get addicted:
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/sep/12/juul-vaping-ban-fda-youth-fears-e-cigarettes-
"The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering a ban on flavored e-cigarettes in response to what it warned is an “epidemic” of young people using the devices and getting hooked on nicotine"
-
But marijuana arguably isn't even physically addictive. Even if you want to argue that it is addictive, it's nowhere near as addictive as nicotine and it's side effects are nowhere near as extreme as those of cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana can be used medicinally. I don't think there's any medicinal purpose for nicotine. There are hard statistics tying large numbers of deaths to alcohol and tobacco use. That's not the case for marijuana.
It's more hypocritical that marijuana has been vilified as this horrible gateway drug for years when big tobacco and alcohol wreak way more havoc.
-
Booze is far worse

vapeing is 95% safer than smoking the only so called drug in vape juice is nicotine and that's so former smokers can quit cigarettes
There are 4000 chemicals in every cigarette. Tobacco smoke also contains over 4,000 chemicals, many of which are known causes of cancer. Just a few of these chemicals are: • Carbon Monoxide (found in car exhaust) • Arsenic (rat poison) • Ammonia (found in window cleaner) • Acetone (found in nail polish remover)
Our government is trying to stop vaping because they are losing money that most states get every year from the cigarette companies ......Tobacco Companies Pay $9 Billion Compensations On April 15 ..
April 15 is the day when the five largest tobacco companies pay US$9 billion dollars to state governments, each and every year, forever. And they pay a percentage of gross sale so low sales less money they have to pay...........so its all hypocrisy
-
This is great news if it happens. It should be taxed, and handled like alcohol and tobacco, and leave it at that.
-
So the whole idea about trying to save our youth from vaping is all bullshit if they cared about our youth ban cigarettes but that will never happen because how would they line there pockets now they found a new way to make money off of weed so im sure they can care less if it gets into the hands of our youth...

But actual cigarettes are banned for youth. These vaping are incredibly popular and easy to obtain among kids.

It's legal here in Canada. I wasn't into pot but over the past 6-7 months I've grown to love it. It's definitely a bodybuilder friendly thing. I sometimes have an edible before training, love it. I do half doses though so I feel subtle affects rather that being really high.

What's In a Cigarette?
There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, cigarettes create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are toxic.
Many of these chemicals also are found in consumer products, but these products have warning labels—such as rat poison packaging. While the public is warned about the danger of the poisons in these products, there is no such warning for the toxins in tobacco smoke.
Here are a few of the chemicals in tobacco smoke and other places they are found:
Acetone—found in nail polish remover
Acetic acid—an ingredient in hair dye
Ammonia—a common household cleaner
Arsenic—used in rat poison
Benzene—found in rubber cement and gasoline
Butane—used in lighter fluid
Cadmium—active component in battery acid
Carbon monoxide—released in car exhaust fumes
Formaldehyde—embalming fluid
Hexamine—found in barbecue lighter fluid
Lead—used in batteries
Naphthalene—an ingredient in mothballs
Methanol—a main component in rocket fuel
Nicotine—used as an insecticide
Tar—material for paving roads
Toluene—used to manufacture paint

so is vaping its 21 to buy vape products what the kids are getting is the juul from gas stations not vape stores. and don't kid yourself most people who smoke today smoked when they were underage vaping wont kill you cigs do

Few people would argue that cigarettes are healthy, but these lists are always so ridiculous. Surprise! Ingredients are in things. The same deadly iron that they use to make suspension bridges can be found in the spinach you eat every night. The poisonous water they use in housepaint is also used to grow the apple you had for lunch. ::)
-
so is vaping its 21 to buy vape products what the kids are getting is the juul from gas stations not vape stores. and don't kid yourself most people who smoke today smoked when they were underage vaping wont kill you cigs do
No, it's infinitely easier for kids to get vaping product than it is cigarettes.
And the bolded is the point. The two biggest knocks against the nicotine industry for the past 50 years have been that they conceal how lethal they are and that they target kids to have an unending feeder pool of customers. Flavored cigarettes are an honest to goodness gateway drug where marijuana is not.
-
Legalize it, its a joke of a drug. Its a plant that can grow naturally.
No one OD's, no one blacks out, no one passes out, no one gets physically hooked. (Mentally maybe, not physically).
Not great for the lungs I guess, but edibles are now everywhere. Might cut down on some crime, smuggling, jail pop, etc.
Leave the jail-cells for real criminals, not the lazy stoner.
Its retarded that it was ever illegal in the 1st place. (Reefer Madness) ::)
Gov't will take it, tax the shit out of it, make their billions soon from it.
But the FDA and the medical world shoves Rx drugs down everyone's throat's for billions and basically created the opioid epidemic.

nicotine is addictive yes but its a stimulant and doesn't cause cancer, vaping was used to help people quit smoking just like the patch or nic gum.... and cigs are just as easy to get the difference is a vape store will not sell to underage kids not worth losing your store over

My point exactly its only bad for you when they cant make a buck off of it .. then its oh our youth we care so much about until thry find a way to tax it and control it...and I agree with your post as well

My mom quit cigarettes and started to vape (not the flavored) and her lungs actually improved. I’m not saying vaping is good for you, but I guess less deadly than smoking cigarettes. Who knows. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ Her lungs have steadily improved since quitting cigs.

We really don't know what the long term health risks of e-cigarettes are. The fact that they are marketed primarily as an addictive habit in tandem with a much deadlier habit is a good reason to keep them out of the hands of kids.
There have always been people warning about cigarettes. There have always been people trying to shed light on marijuana. Money is a factor, but so is popular opinion. People know how deadly cigarettes are but they still choose to smoke. The fact that cigs are still legal isn't really about caring or not caring about children.

Kinda bummed out I didn't jump in the "vape juice" biz when I got out of rehab May '16, when I found out how popular the shit was and how easy it is to make ("easy" if you're familiar with making/compounding oral & inj anabolics) & have sources for the materials. Nicotine powder is easy to obtain. We used a product in prison (in landscaping class) to kill aphids that was pure nicotine powder and cost like $12 for a kg.
Kg = 1,000g = 1,000,000mg
Considering 1 cigarette is something like 1.2-1.6mg, you've got like 30mg nicotine per pack, 1kg nicotine is equal to about 33,300 packs of cigarettes. Amazing profit margin considering your biggest expense is gonna be the 30ml glass dropper and propylene glycol.

It's nice that you'll have the freedom to do a thing they'll permit you to do. Thank you, O Venerable Leaders, for this boon.
Presuming to tell us what we're allowed to do, like we're a bunch of waterheaded schoolkids. Take your permission, roll it into a ball, and cram it up your lordly old oligarchical ass. Then continue to fuck off out of things which are none of your affair.
So yes. But "We made the law and now we're repealing it" is much different than "We never had the right to make that law in the first place."

First they give you marijuana.

I’ve been to Toronto recently where it’s legalized and it smells like dead skunks everywhere, I’ll pass. Or maybe legalize it for private home use only.
-
I mean if the general goal is to dumb down and placate the population then it makes total sense.
Question is will people's use drop off as the novelty wears off over time or will this be a tool to help them ignore the lower standard of living as the middle class is whittled away?

Idiocracy made real. FTN.

How will they test for weed when someone causes a car accident? Seems like there will be a lot more inebriated drivers.

if its legal then they can't, unless they have a test for levels of use, thats always going to be a minefield

Makes you lazy and a wastrel.
Example: Elon Musk
-
Here in Vegas you can get stoned simply by walking down the Strip and taking deep breaths.
Or stop in a store and get a little package of loaded Gummy Bears.
Or spend 40 bucks for a good sized chocolate bar.
It appears that everyone on the Strip is either drunk or stoned.
But all I need is a beer or two.

In New York City (particularly the West Village & Times Square), I've now become used to walking by clouds of Marijuana smoke that fill the air on any given evening.
Before it was taboo and on the low given the presumption that cops would nail your ass, now it's every damn University student.
