Title: Looking for a “hoopty” ride, need help.
Post by: Irongrip400 on December 29, 2019, 05:18:28 PM
I’m not exactly sure of the type of car it is/will be, but something late 60’s or 70’s that is four door, big motor, seats like a couch and has some bells and whistles. I’ll know it when I see it, but I’m not exactly familiar with that type of car so I need suggestions. Parker...Parker, Palumboism or anyone else feel free to chime in. Looking for something to cruise around in (no homo) on weekends or long trips that I don’t have to really worry about it getting beat up.

Too new. I’m not a hipster but I do appreciate their ability to be goofy. I don’t want to really be taken seriously driving it. Something that new and they may just think I’m broke.

What is it? Looks 50’s to me. Oldest I think I’d go would be Don Drapers Cadillac or the car from The Matrix.

Cadillac Deville or Eldorado series.

Lincoln Continental <------ The late 60's, early 70's models are great looking in black or bottle green, even red works.

A hooptie screams 70s to me...huge 70s cars...

Pontiac Grand Ville
Chevy Caprice
Chrysler Newport
Mercury Marquis
Ford LTD or Thunderbird
Buick Century
Oldsmobile 88/98

Any wagons from the 70s but those have gone way up in price.

Hooptie Ride:
Ghetto vehicle, usually lowered with cheesy aftermarket bolt-on parts. Exquisite samples will also have spraypainted flames. These lowrider hydraulic bouncy cars were/are popular among Latinos in California and elsewhere. They were all decked out with ball fringe around the inside of the windshield.

That would be correct. I believe it is a 58' Caddie. Eventhough it's lowered, which changes the appearance, it also looks photoshopped to make look longer and wider than I remember them being.

What's the price range you're looking at?  Anything from the late sixties and early seventies with a big motor is going to be over $30K.  I would recommend late seventies where the prices will go down.

What brands do you like, Ford, GM, Chrysler?  Two door or four door?

I don’t have a brand I’m loyal too and price is fine if it’s what I want. I was hoping you’d show up.
