Title: Sylvia won with a broken arm

according to the big man, 2 weeks ago he was training with Ben Rothwell when he was kicked in the arm, resulting in one of the bones breaking. Considering that he still went out and defeated easily the best HW fighter in UFC, his victory is nothing short of impossible.

Doubt he would have been cleared to fight if he truly had a broken arm.

Good point. Unless it was a slight hairline fracture that Tim kept quiet about?

I read somewhere that Frank Mir was a back-up if either Tim or Arlovski had to pull out?

Do you guys feel Mir is still in the mix?

Sylvia would've covered up the injury if the fucking bone was sticking out.  Not a lot of genetic gifts, but tough as hell...

Mir can still come back; he just has a really long road back.  It really hurt his standing to lose to a guy w/ 2 fights on his MMA record (regardless of his BJJ background)...

Thanks Torq!!!  I'm a huge boxing fan (boxed as an amatuer for years) but love the MMA as well!

I don't think anyone can tell Dina what to do ....but I'll still ask!  By the way....best of luck in your first MMA ... it takes heart to get into any kind of ring!!!!  Please keep us updated!

Great statement ... since he seemed genuine in wanting to keep going with Mir after that snapping forearm break!!  Crazy!!!

For all his toughness I still think Tim Sylvia would get killed in Pride.  In Fedor we literally have a living legend before our eyes!  Just ask Jimmy... he sends me all the clips!

It's sad to say, but the truth is that the UFC's best heavyweights aren't in the top 5 in the world... :-\.  Still great athletes, but in Pride, it'd be ugly...

You can be tough as hell, a doctor still examines you before the fight... And if a "bone was sticking out" they would take x-rays.  Before a fight they have to get a full check, headscan etc...  All under the commission they are fighting under.

And no offense but not a lot of physical gifts?  The only reason the guy is in there is because he is 6'9... If that isn't a physical gift, I don't know what is.

seriously though..my father is 6'8" and if youv'e never stood next to a guy that big....you really have no idea what tall is.
