so secretive about their PED use? Is it because it's illegal? I mean, they ramble on about diet and training and supplements, but once you ask them about their PED use, they get so defensive. Why is PED use their personal business, but their diet and training is not?
-
Yes,I've wondered this.
They either outright deny use or lie about dose /downplay PEDs effect on their gains.
It seems almost impossible to find a totally sincere bodybuilder.
I think hard drug addicts are more honest.

Everyone knows they use PEDs. I don't understand why they are so hush hush about it.
Yet, they have no problems pushing their phony supplements to all the gullible teenagers.

I figure there are three points to it -
1) Financial. You can't shill hard for the supplement companies if you let it be known you're on drugs. There are a healthy amount of gym rats that already know, but there is still a huge amount of the general population that think supplements might do something magical. Also if they have their own training programs they're selling, it cuts into that too.
Also a lot of the bigger contest don't like being associated with drug use, even though it's an open secret.
2) Legality - I actually don't think this is as big as people make it out to be, unless they are supplementing their income by selling. Sure some might get hassled, but I don't think personal users would get hassled much, especially if they were smart about the language they used and what they showed.
3) Pride - This is a big one, especially with older, and second, third tier guys. Most of these guys, after all is said and done, don't have much for the decades they put into the hobby. They basically have their physique or a lifting record, and that's that. It's hard to admit that a guy can be on the same stack as you, and look 10x better or lift 500lbs more.
So a lot of these guys latch on to the "I was natural" or the "I was only on xyz" lie. Also, whatever schmoe fanbase these guys still have in old age tends to get mighty disgruntle if they find out their hero has been lying to them.
No one likes to be surpassed, and no one likes to be forgotten about.

Ask yourself, who would be sponsoring these dudes if they admit that they are users of illegal drugs? What kind of advertising it would be? Can you sell supplements if you admit that all those muscles are made by illegal drugs? ;D

Bodybuilders like to tell people that they have elite genetics
That narrative goes to hell once their massive drug use is exposed
-
The bottom line they never talk about taking drugs. They want the credit for their physique and don't want the credit to go to the drug when everyone knows what's going on. They want to appear to have the work ethic and training knowledge but where does that work ethic and training knowledge go when they are off cycle? There are still clueless people in society who don't realize the muscle is a temporary of drug use. I hear the praise these Hollywood actors get for getting buff for a role when all guys who lift know how they got there. It wasn't a personal trainer but a drug dealer. So the bottom line is they will tell you their training protocol but will never give you the dose and the the types of drugs they took. That takes the praise away from them.

When pat banya and his schmoe sponsor came on here and claimed the key was sweet potatoes and carrying a microwave everywhere to heat said sweet potatoes was so epic lmao

elite genetics is a response to said drugs
If you are not a hyper responder then you simply wont get to a pro level
Anyone can take 20gms a week of gear, only people with "elite genetics" will get to be a pro

I wouldn’t say that, and I wouldn’t say anyone can turn pro either but...... you don’t have to have “elite genetics” in this day and age to get a pro card but you def need the genetics to win pro shows and be a top competitor as a pro.
Also take a look at all those “pros” in men’s physique, technically they are ifbb pros

You said bodybuilders like to say they have elite genetics. Joswift explains what “elite genetics” really means in bodybuilding terms.
Therefore he is on topic.

Spot on.

Exactly
Reason they are pros and elite are because of their genetic makeup (their response to the drugs).
Someone like Primemuscle, Mel Tormé, Woody Allen etc could take the exact same stack like Prime Ronnie , Dorian etc and still look like shit
-

1st: thanks for revealing that Dave D and joswift are the same person
2nd: joswift was talking about genetic drug response. Since bodybuilders don’t want to discuss drugs... genetic drug response is not part of their discussion. Bodybuilders would avoid that type of conversation
-

They try to avoid it due to the reason that they cannot compete if they come clean and tell everyone about, but we don't.
If they could /were allowed compete without any consequences whatsoever from revealing everything, they would not avoid that type of conversation.
It's the truth.
Before though, they were told not to say anything due to marketing reasons and so that companys could sell their supplements. (fooling youngsters that the results they got were from the supps only)

I hear you.
But as Phil Heath referred to himself as “The Gift”. His supplement company was named “Gifted Nutrition”
Some of these guys act as if their success was a “Gift” (possibly a genetic gift from God?)
They want to be viewed as unique, special, one in a billion, gifted

Elite genetics have been explained. You have been exposed. You may have been friends with Jeremy Freeman, so you think you understand genetics. But joswift, my gimmick account, explains this simple concept to you.
Royalty is Jeremy Freeman. This is why you can’t handle the drug talk.
You’ve been exposed.

Of course, they are vain people and want to be regarded to be more than what they are. (more than mere mortals/more than the plebs)
A behavior similar to Hollywood-actors.
Sure, they respond much better (to gear) than others, but without the repertoire, they would not be any special.
Look at Kevin Levrone off the sauce for example.
They are just mortals, just like us that are off the juice.
What they have though, are elite genetics that respond godly to juice.
Like i said, Mel Tormé wouldn't look like Prime-Flex on the same stack.

You can legally buy & use 'juices' in 1 country & compete in another where is 'juice' illegal ;)

There is not much about him on the net , he died in 2005 !.

so secretive about their PED use? Is it because it's illegal? I mean, they ramble on about diet and training and supplements, but once you ask them about their PED use, they get so defensive. Why is PED use their personal business, but their diet and training is not?
Weed is ilegal but people take pride bragging about its use ...
the only reason bodybuilders deny PED use or say they barely touch it is :
insecurity , Because they want you to think everything they've accomplished is due amazing genetics and "pure work ethic" term I really hate btw ...
Sadly, they all look like shit once they come off ( specially pro BB) so work ethic can kiss my ass .
WoooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LE VRO NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

DO people really take 20g a week? Surely the body would, well, basically die?
My friend had a heart attack and he was on just over 1g a week.

I think there's just as big, if not bigger reason, than these. And I think Kwon somewhat alludes to it in his post above in reply to Royalty.
I think they're all afraid of Jim Manion, head of the IFBB Pro League. If one gets on Manion's bad side, I'd bet that not only is that bodybuilder not going to win contests, he's not going to be even allowed to compete. Thus their careers would be over.
Let's face it. The foundation of all major bodybuilding contests going back to the days of Arnold is based 100% on PED use. Take out all the PED's and what have you got? Guys that look nice, look like models. And who's going to pay hard-earned money for that?
Manion can't afford "for the curtain to be pulled back" like the Wizard in the movie The Wizard of Oz. If so, his empire collapes. Even though everybody knows about the PED use, the charade, the show, must go on. If the Arnold winner comes out the day after contest and tells his explicit pre-contest and off-season PED protocol the jig is officially up. As I heard Shawn Ray once say "it's chemical warfare up there."
You can't have a sport or contest based solely on drug usage.
-

Yeah it's not appropriate financially for the ifbb as an institution to allow their "athletes" to all go crazy about the drug use... So better everybody keeps their mouths more or less shut, so that the know nothings still think half the guys are natty etc...

Do any Athletes / Sports People Talk openly about their PED usage ?
Nope they’re all “Natural” & Have elite genetics for there chosen Sport 🙄
Yes of Course they do. 🙄
-

In your “drift”, you stated the obvious. You stated nothing new. You stated something that has been known for decades.
SF1900 wanted to know why bodybuilders are secretive about drugs. There was no need for your explanation about how pro’s respond to drugs. We get it.

Why are All “Sports” people secretive About their PED usage its not just bodybuilders
Society is very Hypocritical- Public want their Drugs - Alcohol/ Weed/ Cocaine/ Cigarettes/ & all kinds of other drugs - Yet Expect Others Involved in “sports” to be Clean & Natural - it’s Fucking Laughable

Sadly unlike any other “ sport” , The thing with bodybuilding is that besides the results obtained with steroids there’s really no talent behind the whole activity.

Society could care less If a Bodybuilder injects drugs 24/7....
I think this thread is more about the hypocrisy within bodybuilding community , an aspiring bodybuilder trains, recover, takes every supp sold under the sun and when ask his hero whats the protocol to get contest ready they always avoid the question with the " work ethic BS "
WoooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LEVRONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEE

And I use Steve as an example as he’s a pre Steroids age Bodybuilder.

Nope ….
I can guarantee you contest ready results with a drug guru ...If competitive bodybuilders don't want to be honest with you .
However, I can not guarantee you a spot either as a pitcher or positional player even at baseball Amateur level no matter how honest pro baseball players are about their use or hard you try/ juice .

No we are not ….. we are talking about
Bodybuilders not being honest about PED use when that is the core of the whole "sport"
I have been around both pro bodybuilders and real athletes … Sammy Sosa off drugs will hit 35 Hrs instead of 55 , any champ bodybuilder will look like shit without drugs WoooSHHHHHH LEVRONEEEEEEEEEEEE
what separates the on stage oilded up striated bodybuilder from the gym rat is the drugs use, plain and simple ….
sure the average Joe probably wont win a major contest by simply using what a trunk warrior bodybuilder use... but the poor naïve will never be more than a gym rat by just wondering and being denied from the truth .
you can be as vocal as you want about BCAAs, L- carnitine, Whey protein isolated and "work ethic"
But bodybuilding is a 100 % chemical warfare son ( Clint Eastwood's voice )

Ohh & I’ve know Many Top Sports People / Bodybuilders / powerlifters (Here in the U.K. )
Also I’ve competed at international level at both Powerlifting & Bodybuilding
Wether you wish to accept it or not There are & have Been some Very Good Naturals
Out there - No Nowhere Near Pro Level - Only still very Good.
Options Vary Son.
