It still is that good.

Since 2000 we've had:

Barerra - Morales trilogy
Rafa Marquez - Israel Vasquez 4 fight saga
pacquiao - Marquez 4 fights
Pacquiao - Morales
Roman Gonzales - Estrada
Gonzales - SSR
Joshua - Klitchko
GGG - Canelo

I could go on and on.  For those of us who don't miss the fights, any of them, boxing is still great.  Do too many big fights still not get made?  Yes, but hopefully the Wilder and Fury trilogy will lead to more crossing of the proverbial street and give us Spence and Crawford before one of them loses or starts to diminish.  Also, with the pandemic and shut down of sports around the globe maybe some good will come of this vis a vis boxing.  Fingers crossed.

ZeroZeroZero - Great singular series about how interconnected the drug trade is from the guys that brought you the Italian mafia series Gomorra.

4 Blocks - Pretty good German series about the Lebanese mafia in Germany. First season was about the Lebanese muscling in on the Germans. Second was family drama securing sources for things. 3rd was a conclusion of the 2nd season. It watches better than my review.

Babylon Berlin - A detective solves crimes, and deals with the rise of the Nazi party in Berlin. Very good little neo noir series with a lot of sex and violence. It's based on a popular German series of books. Watch it with the subtitles, it loses a lot with the dubbing -

.

I also watched the Tiger King series on a lark, it lives up to the hype.

--------------

I'm also running through old seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and picking at the Sopranos here and there.

For no particular reason, I have not been spending any more of my time in front of the flat screen of life than usual. In fact because most of what is broadcast is so negative, I think I am actually turning on and tuning into the media less often than I would normally. Technically, it is spring (cleaning) time. With so much spare time to spend doing something, I have been concentrating on doing the things I normally say I will do but never seem to find time to carry though on it. As the weather improves, I hope to be outside in the garden more than usual this year planting and tending to it.

If you're a boxing fan, check out the documentaries on youtube by "Joe Vincent" if you haven't already.  Dude does documentarires that put anything from ESPN to shame!  He's done one on almost all of the big names in boxing (M Tyson, Fury, Duran, Leonard,Ali), and he just did one last week on George Foreman.
I'm a pretty big boxing fan, and there was stuff about each one of these fighters I didn't know much about.  Usually because it happened either before I was born or when I was really little.

Oh, and how did you make an 80's fight list without Hagler v. Hearns?  Easily the most brutal round of boxing I've ever seen!  It looked like someone told that if they didn't knock the other dude out in the first round, that someone was gonna kill their mama! LOL!

And my all time favorite round of boxing is Corrales vs. Castillo round 10!  I'd say it's the most dramatic round of boxing in the last 25 years, and possibly of all time.  Even a non boxing fan will be impressed with it.

Other than shows, 99% of movies that I normally watch is horror.

Mad Men is great for a time like this. It works great if you can watch it in big blocks, it's not really a series where you can watch one episode, then watch another weeks later.

I hated it trying to watch it like that, now I think it was one of the best series on television.

Ozark 3  was great as those have said.
The Outsider was too.

I know Hunters got shit on, mostly because people bailed when episode 2 got stupid.  But if you stuck with it, episode two turned out to be a weird outlier, and the last 20 min of the finale was pretty insane.

Loved Arguello.  The Thin Man.  That fight against Pryor was brutal.  Marred by controversy and Panama Lewis was in Pryors corner and rumored to have something illegal in the water bottle.  Quite possible given the amount of flush shots Arguello landed without Pryor so much as blinking.

Corrales - Castillo could arguably be the best fight I've ever seen.  Insane.

I ended up loving The Outsider.  I'm a huge Jason Bateman fan.  Loved the 1st 2 episodes.  It had sort of a True Detective feel.  Then, in episode 3 it seemed to take a Steven King turn.  Wasn't sure I was gonna like it at this point but from episode 4 til the end it got better each week.  I like how they kept the door open for another season.  Do you think they will do it?

Somehow (door work/partying/bit of both  ;)) the whole Soprano's thing passed me by...

Sure, everyone was telling me how good it was, but I've never been the type to record stuff and watch later so relied on 'live reenactments' of scenes by wannabe 'gangsters'

But I've watched a few random YouTube recommendations the last few days, and I think the box set is up somewhere?  So think I might get into it now

Also watched John Wick 1 and 2 at the recommendation of my whole family - very cool - hope number 3 is as good

OZARK .... Just starting Season 3.

Zero Zero Zero ..... Great ... but I must have missed the part that explained why Zero Zero Zero was the title.

The Crown because a family member was involved. An interesting and supposedly accurate history of Queen Elizabeth, her royal family and the royal shenanigans  involved. I recommend this series for its ed-u-ma-ka-shun-al value.

And I have found new respect for her husband, Phillip, after watching the first two episodes of season one. I think any GetBigger would agree if they sat back and watched it. He was a hell raiser, loyal to his troops, and eventually took no shit from the 'moustaches'.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Winston episodes.

What do you GetBiggers across the pond think of this series?

hagler vs mugabi-  this was intense, both fighters were pissing blood for a week after the fight !

gatti vs ivan robinson 1,2

chavez vs meldrick taylor 1-  oldschool was bummed taylor was robbed of this win, he fought so brilliant and was never the same again.  on a side note the rematch was pretty exciting as well while it lasted.

holyfield vs dokes- fucking awesome fight

iran barkley vs roberto duran-  un fucking real. and durans last hurrah really

ray mercer vs  bert cooper-

bert cooper vs michael moorer.

chime in my muscle bound brothers.  suggest some fights for oldschool.

Hearns vs Hagler. No greater fight on the face of the earth.  Every punch was throw with bad intentions till one folded.

Foreman vs Ron Lyle. Both threw bombs. Both hit the canvas until one's will was broken

Foreman vs Frazier. Sad to see Smokin Joe after all his battles had nothing left in the fight game and got destroyed by Foreman.

Duran vs anyone. Never disapoints

John Wick 3 was not very good and neither were either of the Jack Reacher films.

Glad I asked then!  The Jack Reacher thing is a shame because the YT clips look reasonable.  Just reading this morning that in the books, Reacher is 6ft+ and The Rock auditioned - would have been a different film LOL

I liked 'Taken' (yes I'm many years behind) - are the sequels any good?

Trump: An American Dream on Netflix the past two nights.

Also some sort of car shows on Netflix. There’s a few out that will hold your attention. Been spending a lot of time outdoors with the kids though too.

OZARK .... Just starting Season 3.

Zero Zero Zero ..... Great ... but I must have missed the part that explained why Zero Zero Zero was the title.

Zero Zero Zero is slang for cocaine and a grade of flour in Italy. 000 is the finest, whitest, most expensive flour a person can usually buy.

Ozark season 3 is the best in the series. I just finished it last night.

Not sure if it works outside the US, but HBO is letting people watch it for free while this lockdown is in effect -

https://www.hbo.com/   (about middle of the page).

If you've got access to a VPN, that will fool the country block if it's on it.

I haven't seen the sequels but loved the Taken movie.  A lot of people like the Jack Reacher movies but I didn't care for them.

The Jack Reacher in the book was like 6'4 and little tiny Tom is 5'6.

Mission Impossible 2, the only one worth watching, all the others are like spoofs, stupid wise cracking twat Simon Pegg in them, the stereotypical stupid Brit

The twist after Hunt is shot and queue the music when he runs out, great movie making, and probably the best TV theme music of all time

And Thandi Newton is bang on...

I think Jack Reacher with Top Cruise is a more realistic and intelligent take than with The Rock, would definitely be a different film with The Rock (San Andreas-style).

At least with Cruises Reacher. you had more depth and reach than a mere mindless actionmovie.

Or maybe i'm just reaching. You know Tom did.

At least we didn't get to see Wahl Markberg as Rack Jeacher.

Watching All American on Netflicks.  Story about a high school football player from the hood who gets an invite to play and live in Beverly Hills.  Inspired by a true story of a NFL player.  Shows the contrast between the crime ridden thug life and living in extreme wealth.

The less crime ridden thug life we get to see on TV / film, the better imo!

It's too glamorized and influences the Urban youth.

Watching "Fear The Walking Dead".

The new Reacher is the right size.  Looks like he kicks azz just like in the book.

Boardwalk Empire

Best character in that series.

-------------------------

Best thing I watched this week -

.

Life of Crime 1983 - 2020. Continuation of the famous documentary series from HBO that looks at the life of street hustlers and addicts over almost 40 years now.

Watch it quick if interested, as it will probably get pulled fast.

------------------

Gomorra, the Italian mob series is still holding up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hightown_(TV_series) is solid.

Yellowstone is very good still.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is having a top season too.

Agree he looks more like the book description now, and for a big actor he doesn't come across as a lunkhead - which is always a good thing

Lot's of 'lets start fighting with big right hands' in that trailer too ;D

And that might be the first time I've seen someone actively headbutt someone's incoming punch to break their knuckles - don't try that at home kiddies!
