I'm not sure if you are serious or just trolling as you find it fun, but if it's the case then that is, of course, bad news, but my guess is that you will be just fine. You'll feel sick for a couple of weeks or so like you've probably had before with the flu but will be back on your feet and back to normal reuniting with Rory.

Honestly the testing is not very accurate, we have had to test patients multiple times, with mixed results. I think there working on about 65% accuracy as of now. And the rapid test is even worse. We rely more on signs and symptoms and chest X-rays. Everyone is going to get it at some point, just hope your body responds well.

In Los Angeles county, there are quite a few areas now testing if you want one - at least 20 different areas - just call for an appointment.
Also, they are starting to test for antobodies too out here.

Best way to look at the severity of the virus is that if it happened a 150 years it wouldn't have even made a footnote in history. There were very few over 60+ yearolds back then which would mean that fatalities would be on par with a bad common cold. The outcomes would be better than flu!

If so - thank you for all you do! When all is said and done, I hope that the COVID hysteria ends up being just that. But I do admire those who put themselves on the line before we really knew very much about this virus. Sure, it's looking like the mortality rate is fairly low [likely under 5%, and possibly even under 2%], and not really a risk of death for those under 70 who don't have preexisting conditions - but the reality is, we are only learning that now.
I have to commend any doctor or nurse or other front line healthcare worker who exposed themselves to a mystery virus which we didn't know much about at the time of its original spread, and are still learning a lot about as the days go by.

Thanks for the welcome, my wife and I are both RNs in Ny. This virus is definitely worse than the flu but it’s not as lethal as the media would have you believe. My wife, myself and son are all recovering from it now. Son had a runny nose lol, wife had trouble with breathing. And I almost didn’t make it. Some people have a very bad inflammatory response and your body attacks it’s self. That’s what mostly killing the people they are getting embolisms from their own immune system. We knew we would get it working in a hospital. It’s very unpredictable, we’re getting a better grip on dealing with it and I feel the actual virus itself is weakening in a sense.

2.8 million people die a year in the U.S, most from the pre-existing conditions cited in Corona deaths. As mentioned earlier, the testing is deeply flawed. Not hard to shift a portion of the 2.8 million over to Corona.

"There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition and let's say the virus caused you to go the ICU and then have a heart or kidney problem. Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death."

I've heard this said before. If this is really happening on a large scale [and not just rarely, or by accident], then that is definitely problematic.
Another thing to consider:
The COVID deaths we are seeing are deaths from a virus that currently has no vaccine, whereas the deaths from the flu are deaths that would otherwise be much higher if no vaccine existed. So comparing the death counts of each is not an apples to apples comparison.
That being said, the COVID deaths are also at their current number with large scale lock downs in place, and perhaps the COVID deaths would be significantly higher without said measures. We won't be able to adequately measure this until more time passes and we have more data to analyze. I still think this virus is being blown out of proportion.
As far as I can tell, those dying under 70 of this virus generally have preexisting conditions. I'm not yet convinced that COVID is a major risk for the younger segment of the population, or people who are healthy, with strong immune systems, who are not obese, who do not smoke, etc.
But seriously [back to the original point] - if people who die WITH COVID are all being classified as dying FROM COVID, that is extremely disingenuous, and needs to be accounted for in future analyses of the true mortality rate of this virus.

I think there is a definite possibility that I got the virus on February 20th, almost to the very day that Canada started strongly warning about it. It had been talked about prior to that, but not to the extent it is today, and at the time, there were no cases in my city.
As of today, Thunder Bay has had 67 confirmed cases - 51 have been resolved :), 15 are active, and sadly, there has been one death. :( :(

I would be curious to see the statistics broken down by race...somehow I have a feeling that the 2x higher per-capita COVID rate in the USA is the result of racial disparities...just like how if we look at homicide rates: 70% of all homicides in the USA are committed by Blacks and Hispanics, white the White American rate is roughly the same as the White Canadian rate at around 2.0 per 100,000 population per year. That doesn't stop left-leaning Canadians from constantly moaning on about how violent the USA is, seemingly incapable of grasping that literally the entirety of the disparities in violence can be attributed to disparities in racial demographics. ::) On top of that, most of these same Canadians then praise Canada's "diversity", not grasping that it's our lack of diversity that makes Canada safer than the USA.
I suspect that, as is normally the case, the "diverse" [Black and Hispanic] population of the USA is affecting the average, and causing the numbers to be much higher than they would be otherwise. As for determining the effectiveness of social distancing, the best we can do is look at countries that had different measures in place, ranging from strict lock downs, to simply social distancing as a recommendation, which Kwon said was the case in Sweden [I'm not sure if this changed].

It is my opinion that there indeed would have been fewer cases and fatalities in terms of the actual number of people This would be because the population was much less and perhaps because fewer people lived in crowded conditions. It would not be because they didn't live as long. Percentage-wise the relative number of those getting sick and dying would actually have been greater because medical science is more advanced now then it was in earlier times.
Since we cannot change history and a far as we know covid did not exist, this issue makes almost no difference in today's prevention and treatment today. I am not sure what we would learn from exploring this.

Here's where your logic is flawed. It's the bodies immune system that's helping the vast majority people recover from covid infections, not medical science.
The ageing process results in a weakening of the immune system, so a 70 yearold will naturally have a weaker immune system than a 50 yearold even if both are in perfect health for their age.
Modern medicine wouldn't have made a huge difference to lifespans a 100+ years ago. Shorter lifespans were because of a lack of understanding regarding hygiene, a lack of clean water, poor sanitation, poor work conditions, lack of nutrition etc. There are also no magic life extending drugs, most modern drugs are used to treat lifestyle illnesses.

Tell him to imagine good results. The only negativity you need right now is the test result being negative for COVID-19.
You may not remember or know this, but my daughter was informed a few weeks ago that her physical therapist had the virus. Talk about close contact. As a result she got tested. While waiting for the results, she had a headache and felt sick. When she found out she was negative for the virus, she miraculously and instantly felt well. Talk about the sometimes dangerous power of suggestion.
Be positive that you will test negative.

The sad thing is, China will face no repercussions for any of this at all, despite destroying the world economy. I do not see any multinational effort seeking to punish China for this Pandemic. Only one country is currently on board for enacting justice against China, and that is Israel.

I'm in agreement with you but I just got word that new restrictions placed on selling high tech products are going into effect for China. I make semiconductor test and measurement systems and my products will be officially added to ITAR soon. That is actually a huge development. China imports nearly 90% of it's semiconductor chips from the US and Taiwan.
