He should of listened to police and not ran.. Then point a taser at the officer..
Regardless of color / race..
Why do they resist ?
Knowing the outcome is going to be a beatdown or possibly getting shot.. Killed...

He was passed out in the drive through because he was drunk. Then he fights 2 officers, runs and points the taser at the cop. What does he expect will happen?

The cell phone video looks bad for Brooks. He failed a road side sobriety test. Then resisted arrest. Then wrested with the cops and grabbed a taser. Ran from the cops turned around, and attempted to tase them.
This dude was begging to get shot.
-
Looks like they are looking to fire the cop who did the shooting.
The Atlanta police chief already resigned over this.
Looks like a win-win for society.

After watching the cell phone video, I don’t think that the cop should be fired
-
At this point in time, if someone is running away from the cops, it would be better to let them get away than to shoot them. No doubt, he was shot in the back, which is never a good thing.
The chief quit and and officer will be fired if he hasn't already been. This literally added fire to the protests since the Wendy's was torched. Everyone loses.

LOL, this guy pointed the taser too. Unfortunately, the cop wasn't aware someone was recording.
-
It could have happen like this.
Usually, the body cams don't work when the cop is in the wrong, so lets see the cam footage
-
As long as you don't resist, nothing will happen to you. If you feel you were treating inappropriately you can file a complaint or even press charges. It never ever ends well for you if you resist.
In this case, the cop should not have shot him. They had his car and address. I would just have let him go if he ran and just arrest him later with adequate backup.
-
He wasn’t shot in the back. He was shot the moment he turned and pointed the cops taser at him.
-
Again, why are the cops even dealing with this wrestling shit? The minute someone starts resisting just mase or taze them. That's it, the wrestling stuff never ends well.

They should have let him go? Are you fucking daft? This critter was so wasted he FELL ASLEEP behind the wheel. Thank god a good person was not killed on the way to Reggie getting his spicy nuggets. He needed to be held accountable for his actions.
He fought them then pointed a weapon at them.
Sayonara pal, see you on the other side.
-
I'm actually going to hit Wendy's tonight, I totally forgot how good that place is.

In this climate, it isn't worth it. They had his car and address. They could show up at his house and arrest him when they are better prepared. At this point I wouldn't bother running after someone like that. Now if he committed a violent crime that would be different.
-
If I did what he did they would have shot my white ass too. Now they gotta torch Wendy's and put other low income people out of work. Nice.
-
Fuck him he deserved it...
-
As long as you don't resist, nothing will happen to you.
Don't be silly Pellius
-
LOL.
The stupid police chief resigned over this.
Atlanta Police Chief resigns over officer killing black man at Wendy’s…
Atlanta’s police chief resigned Saturday, the day after an officer fatally shot a man in a Wendy’s parking lot, prompting an investigation and protests. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Chief Erika Shields, a member of the Atlanta Police Department for more than two decades, stepped down and former Assistant Chief Rodney Bryant will serve as interim chief “as we immediately launch a national search for new leadership.”
What a dumbass. ??? ::)
-
They would have charged him with public intoxication or something like that and he would have been out of jail early the next morning. Now he's dead because he wouldn't be a man and just accept the consequences of his actions.
-
I don't understand why cops don't use pepper spray way more often than attempting to overpower some of these worthless animals.
If they resist at all, simply back away and spray the living fuck out of them. There is zero long term damage to their eyes, but they will have the worst 30 minutes of their life.
We use MK4 in the prison system, and it takes the fight out of 99.9% of cons who aren't complying. I don't care how big they are, or if they're high as balls, as soon as they are hit, they are done.

Atlanta officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks has been terminated
"At a news conference Saturday, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms criticized the officer who shot Brooks, saying, "There is a clear distinction between what you can do and what you should do."
"I do not believe this was a justified use of deadly force," Bottoms said."

Should “of”??? What does that mean??

That's because they want to escalate things to the point that shooting the person is the only option left.

The one cop attempted to do as you said.. but the suspect resisted arrest and grabbed the taser from him
-
At this point in time, if someone is running away from the cops, it would be better to let them get away than to shoot them.
Exactly.
This is what 99% of society wants. Cops should be executors of the law under very LIMITED circumstances. Every time some of these... pigs kill someone they are literally nibbling away at the law's legitimacy. So you end up with situations like the one we have today.
-
The one cop attempted to do as you said.. but the suspect resisted arrest and grabbed the taser from him
I'm not sure why most police officers seem to want to use a taser instead of pepper spray. For starters if you tase someone on pavement/concrete, you risk the person falling and hitting their head and getting seriously injured. At this point, if a white cop tased a monkey and the monkey hit his head, the protesters would freak out about that, regardless of what occurred before hand.
I got sprayed with MK4 .2% a few years ago, as we had to get sprayed during out training and before we could carry it at work. It was BY FAR the most painful experience of my life! I'm talking a legit 9.9/10! A few people in my department actually panicked when sprayed, as the pain is so intense that you honestly don't know what to do.
We had a female officer run inside our training facility screaming like a lunatic and start taking all her clothes off. I guess she ended up in the hallway in her underwear and socks, and another female officer brought her into the bathroom and had her take a shower. Sadly she was a 220lb bull dyke, but it was funny regardless! LOL!

At least he could always get a job at Wendy’s......oh, wait.
-
First they'll take the cops guns then say people don't need them. Just occurred to me that the other stuff wasn't working but this might.
-

That will be the reason that they "have" to take guns away from the people.
Fuck all that.
-
He stole the taser from the cop and tried to use on him.
-
I think you mean the ex-cop. :)
-
You run and fight with cops and steal their taser you gonna get shot.Very simple to understand and if you do not then you might be a criminal.
-
.08 alcohol level is legally intoxicated.
He was .108 which is very impaired.
He was drunk so not in control of himself and fought the cops.
The situation could have been handled better by the cops. They shouldn't have shot him.
No reason to shoot the guy.
Those cops were awful at subduing that guy. Two-on-one and the guy escapes. If one guy out-wrestles two cops they should just let him go as a gift.
-
Cops should just go on strike. They can’t win.
-
Play stupid games.
-
Felony murder charges?!?! What happened to due process? That black DA and administration is simply placating the black masses.
How many good cops are going to pack it in now? They should all call out sick just to make a statement. Now black crime is going to rise dramatically because they'll think they can get away with it. Rapists, arsonists, looters and vandals the city of Atlanta is now yours.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Atlanta PD officer who shot Rayshard Brooks in the back and killed him during a confrontation at a downtown Wendy's, will be charged with murder and held without bond, ABC News reports. Garrett Rolfe, the officer who shot Brooks (Rolfe has already been fired). He will face a murder charge, along with 10 other charges.
-
What kind of stupid shit is this....talk about appeasement...will never get convicted

"We concluded and considered as one of our important considerations that Mr. Brooks never presented himself as a threat,'' Howard said. "For 41 minutes and 17 seconds (before Rolfe tried to handcuff him), he followed their instruction, he answered the questions.''
Howard noted that shooting at a fleeing suspect goes against Atlanta's policies.
"The city of Atlanta says you cannot even fire a Taser at someone who's running away,'' Howard said, "so you certainly can't fire a handgun at someone who's running away.''

Charging him don't mean diddly.
It was a bad shooting though.

so suspects just need to run now, I hope cops are getting issued with Nike trainers..
-
Personally, I think it was a bad shooting by the cop.
Dumb. No reason to kill the guy.
He was shot in the back.

No it wasnt.

Didn’t the guy steal his taser and use it on him?
Sounds justified.

Should be interesting to see how many cops resign in the near future, also numbers in new recruits signing up for the force.

He fucked up , fuck him

Play stupid games win stupid prizes. His shooting in back came after he discharged the taser while running away. I haven’t seen the wounds to his back but I’d bet it wasn’t directly in the middle of his back like most are thinking
-
The cop didn't want his buddies to make fun of him because he lost his taser ,I hope he goes to jail for a long time

seem to be only tv cops that get trained how to shot at different parts of a suspects body
what sort of training did this guy get and why didn't he learn to be more careful after shooting another suspect in 2026?
-
The former cop will not be convicted.

Lee Haney hopefully will be suiting up soon. He is from Atlanta. Maybe he can get OCP up and running.

Here's the thing though Loyalty, When I was born, I was so ugly the doctor slapped my mother.
My wife and I were happy for 20 years, then we met each other.
Oh my wife! I always knew she cheated. I got in a cab, I asked the driver where I could find some action, he took me to MY house!
-
He shouldn't even be charged, its a lawful killing of a criminal, still sad, but if your going to resist and behave and threaten a situation like that, the only outcome can be death and as instantly as possible. Cops don't get paid enough to chance being tazered and hope the criminal doesn't kill them while they're down .
-
It was crazy to be a cop before this....now you'd just have to be an idiot to keep doing it. The police unions are letting these guys swing out there.
I never cared for cops but their job is to deal with crime/criminals so I don't have to.
Yeah, the guy shouldn't have been shot in the back, but really to say he shouldn't have been shot after grabbing a weapon is a gray area. If he was white no news about it. Period.
-
Who wants to be a Cop now / today?
No support whatsoever.
Whatever you do, you lose.

it's quite obvious, especially with the BLM movement why niggas finds themselves in these situations constantly.
It's in their nature. Low iq and violent by nature.
dindunuffins should just move back to Africa tbh so we can have peace

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it again here because I thinks it's very important.
In 2015 an anti-police activist ran through some use of force scenarios with training ammo and found out.

he may have bullets in his back, but from the footage he was turning to fire the taser, it would be interesting to see the bullets trajectory, I will wager they dont travel towards the front of his body
-
This cop had no due process whatsoever. He was fired the night of the shooting. Complete bullshit.
If he was fired without cause, the police union will fight for him to get his job back.
Due Process is a legal term. It is defined as fair treatment through the normal judicial system, especially as a citizen's entitlement.

He should have been suspended pending an investigation, sacking him on the spot presumed guilt and will be a massive advantage for the prosecution once it goes to court

No salary is high enough to risk being killed on a daily basis. You have to apply to get a job as a police person. it is not as if they are drafted.
As of Jun 11, 2020, the average annual pay for a Police Officer in Atlanta, GA is $48,519 a year.
While ZipRecruiter is seeing annual salaries as high as $74,655 and as low as $25,052, the majority of Police Officer salaries currently range between $37,578 (25th percentile) to $54,613 (75th percentile) in Atlanta, GA.
Base pay in the army is considerably less while the risk is much higher. Hardship pay is between $50. and $150 a month. when you are deployed to a combat zone you are paid an extrat $250 a month.
Rank 2 Years Experience 4 Years Experience
Private (E1) $20,797.20** $20,797.20
Private (E2) $23,310.00 $23,310.00

To be honest, he was immediately fired because those in charge fear further protests, rioting and looting. Under more usual circumstances when a police person is involved in a shooting, specially one where someone dies, they go on administrative leave with pay pending investigation.

I know, thats my point, he was sacrificed at the alter of BLM
I know what happens normally, and this instance should have been no different, in making it different they have virtually lynched him
