Most adult onset diabetes can be reversed by being lean. Do cardio and eat less. Problem solved.

Insulin resistance in fat cells means you lose fat easier and makes gaining fat harder.
Insulin resistance may be a way for the human organism to limit excessive fat/weight gain. Not saying insulin resistance is good or healthy, but something to think about.

An obese person who goes on a diet loses fat at an insane rate and insulin resistance may play a part in that.

It's also interesting how exogenous growth hormone makes you leaner while causing insulin resistance. "Fat burning" drugs like beta agonists also cause a degree of insulin resistance.
