Two pit bulls that entered a Carteret backyard on Tuesday, attacking and killing a 3-year-old boy and injuring his mother were not registered with the borough, officials said Wednesday.

The boy’s mother remains hospitalized on Wednesday, Carteret Mayor Daniel J. Reiman said in a statement. Both dogs have been euthanized, a spokesman for the mayor said .

The dogs that got into the family’s fenced backyard on East Laurel Street came from a home on Birch Street, about two blocks away, the mayor said.

Yep.

My pet Bengal Tiger is very sweet.  He plays so nice with my 2-year old niece.

While Pits aren't the most aggressive breed, the problem lies in their "ability" to do a lot of damage.

I've met a lot of very sweet and gentle pits.

But once they get aggressive and get a hold of something, they aren't letting go.

Like everything else in life, stereotypes are there for a reason.

Yes, if a Miniature Poodle attacks, you kick it's ass across the room.  Not so easy with a Pit or a Rott.

I've punted a few ankle biters across the room before.

Didn't feel bad about it one bit.

was the little boy killed twice?
Yes, they resuscitated him and the dog attacked again.
