I remember when I was a child and they decided to send a teacher into space. They stopped classes and brought us all into the auditorium to watch on TV. It did not end well
-
With any luck the thing explodes.

The Russians always made ground landings.

Bezos, Zuck, Musk and Gates....all state sponsored actors.
None of these guys are bright enough to be responsible for these giant operations.
Punchable face level 11 on Bezos...Paul Shaffer looking dork.

Her last words to her family were, "You feed the dogs and I'll feed the fish."

We already did this in the 1960’s using ancient tech. This isn’t much different than the Chinese copying something using computers that were light years ahead of the old stuff. Color me unimpressed.
Oh, they had bigger windows…..bfd

"Bezos Landed, Thanked Amazon Workers And Shoppers For Paying, Gave Away $200 Million"

^That headline has to be a slam, ironically from NPR. Amazon put 1000s of small businesses out of work, median income Amazon pays is only $29,000, has them slavishly packing boxes...and he gives away $200 million to basically BLM but he only, without spending a dime, verbally "thanks" his slaves and his customers, who made him rich.
All the $$$$ Bezos is 'giving away', and putting into his businesses to make himself more $$$, is $$$ that he isn't paying his employees slaves.
-
He is so worried about Global warming and climate change ::)

Do you honestly believe this?
About 75%, yeah. ;)

We need this. Capitalism works. Ayn Rand would be like, YES exactly. We can advance society through selfish motive of feeling weightless or whatever else is expected from a short glimpse of weightless. FACT. Bezos seemed really keen to expand OUR horizons in terms of space travel horizons post event interview. OUR. We all will benefit. China doesn't have private citizens doing this sort of thing of ours.

If we didnt live in a throwaway society we would stagnate and die

My understanding is that he just wants to one-up Elon Musk all the time. Apparentlythey are not friendly and have a kind of rivalry going.
Personally I think Musk is much more likable than Bezos. Bezos is just a petty arsehole and opportunist that got a break with his online store/company

John Galt is the mastermind behind all of this, not Bezos. ;D

He drove the business model that changed the way the entire country shops, even when it was bleeding money at the beginning. When companies were focused on profit/profit/profit, it wasn't even in his top 15 priorities.
Maybe he's a douchebag, most guys who are uber-successful can be, but it's disingenuous to say they just got lucky, or aren't smart enough to do this, as was mentioned earlier.

He stole the idea from a professor who owned a communist bookstore....the "everything store".
It is an activist business model with so many conflicts of interest being ignored it's not even funny.
What is going on now with information age/tech concentrating wealth among too few people is similar to what happened in the industrial revolution. If you know your history you know how that went.

I don't disagree with any of these points.
But it has less to do with luck or a perceived lack of intelligence.
Just have to give credit where it's due.
Musk/Bezos/Gates are all game changers, super smart, and super driven.
Out of all of them, Gates pisses me off the most promoting this processed meat alternative garbage, all while looking like shit.
At least Bezos and Musk got on the gas and worked out.

Yeah, the standard of living and life expectancy went up for everyone.
-

Temporarily. We are trading our future for cheap slave labor garbage.
Amazon = millions of tiny NAFTA transactions every day.
I could write a MattC post on this but I will resist the urge.

Yes, it made developed nations what they are today as opposed to turd world shitte holes.

I was of course referring to the Great Depression. If history is to repeat itself, so be it.
The two eras are not completely alike. Industrial Revolution led to a higher standard of living by making basics of life easier. Most of this consumer tech stuff is really to the point where people are serving it and the technocrats rather than being served by it. The problem is the efficiencies of an automated society to this level leaves you asking why there are so many people...which is why Gates speaks about pandemics and eugenics for the last decade I would assume.

A rocket that looks like a giant penis was sent to outer space with Bezos in it. Does that make him the equivalent of jizz?

lmao how does society benefit in the slightest? Nothing groundbreaking, he didn't even make it into orbit It's just some rich guy checking something off his bucket list.

Capitalism is great as far as driving innovation through competition, however as long as the incentive for this innovation comes by greed, power and wealth we are standing on a rotten foundation
As technology advances and we are able to alter our environment to ever greater degrees there's a good chance we will innovate right to our doom if continuing to serve those incentives

Billionaires are pissed
Jeff Bezos and Sir Richard Branson not yet astronauts, US says
In a move that pours cold water on the dreams of a few billionaire space explorers, the US has tightened its definition of the word "astronaut".
New Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules say astronaut hopefuls must be part of the flight crew and make contributions to space flight safety.
That means Jeff Bezos and Sir Richard Branson may not yet be astronauts in the eyes of the US government.

Like they actually were in space anyway. ::)

I can just see various workplaces now being divided over this "issue" ... people who can barely afford to take an Uber to the mall arguing over whether these two pickle smoochers "really went to space" or not.

He rode in his ship, one perfectly designed to look like a giant metal cock.
Awe-inspiring achievement.
