Title: The Black Crowes
Post by: CalvinH on September 18, 2021, 07:14:24 AM
I went to see them last night and they put on a hell of a show.
Band was on point and in the pocket all night.
Chris Robinson voice was fantastic and one of the best singing performances I've ever seen or heard live.

...If your a fan of the band or just rock and roll I highly recommend seeing them if you get a chance 8)

I've never understood why people pay to see geriatric rockers live.  Why not just listen to their old albums?

I went and saw the Allman Brothers way late in their run.Loved them since I was a kid but never saw them live.Obviously it wasn’t as good as when they were younger but Gregg sounded great and Warren Haynes played with them. Now with Gregg gone I’m glad I went.

I hate live music.  Like Patrick Bateman I prefer the studio sound.

They still sounded great. I would have been bummed if they sounded like geriatric rockers.
Plus it was nice to see my first live show since this "Pandemic of epic proportions" ::)started.

It also was a outdoor show at a great venue and we tailgated in the parking lot before the show.
Myself, wife and a couple friends had a great time.

Live music is brutal. Never understood concerts, I went to one years ago and walked out to party in parking lot after 20 minutes. I went to a few more concerts but just to party in the parking lot.

A friend of mine is in a rock group called Manowar. He's in his 60's now but they still tour. He told me that because of the changing acoustics in different arenas, most rock bands are playing against a soundtrack. He said all those Marshall amps stacked behind the band were just empty shells.  So you ARE getting the studio sound, just outdoors, lol

My appreciation for a live concert was in direct proportion to how stoned I was.

Kate Hudson married the singer from the Black Crows but eventually they divorced.  Probably because he was too hard to hannana.  Yes aroun.

Very cute, tight little body.  I would have emptied my plumbs into her crevasse if given the opportunity.

They really did. They lost members through the years but plugged in guys like Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks and then in the mid 90s Gregg sobered up after 14 failed attempts at rehab and he sounded better than ever.Lost him a few years ago but they put out some great music.Blues southern rock and Dickie Betts even gave them a country sound.Great band

Most of us here are middle-aged. You get less sociable as you get older. People become a bigger and bigger pain in the ass.

I saw Paul McCartney five years ago and it was the best energy I’ve ever seen at a concert. Dude slayed it.

I’d like to see Black Crowes. Glad they still have it together and didn’t sound like shit.

Who were your other concerts, Bing Crosby and Tony Bennett?

I saw an aging Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in concert many yeas ago.  Well worth the price of admission.

I wasn't old enough to have seen Led Zepplin at their peak so this was the next best thing.

Paul McCartney and energy?  I've seen more energetic cadavers.  Whenever I hear a McCartney song I want to stab out my eardrums.

I know it’s probably hard to explain, but the dude engaged with the audience, and if you like his music the live version of him is stellar. I’ve seen all sorts of acts. Shit, I’m not a Kiss fan but they put on a great show.

It’s funny you type that, because the venue we saw him at was nick named “Oldchella”. It was at the Coachella venue and was three nights. Bob Dylan and the Stones night one, Neil Young and Paul McCartney night two, and The Who and Roger Waters closing it out night three. Might’ve been the whole experience, but I stand by it, Paul was a great show.

That's an impressive line up for certain.

I saw Stones about a decade ago and they could still bring it.

But for overall energy, I'm going to say seeing Slayer at a 200 person venue play for 3 hours might have just had a TAD more energy than Sir Paul.
