Title: Varicose veins
Post by: ether on September 21, 2021, 05:22:46 PM
Should they be marked down? Why not sclerose them? Very unappealing and after all BB is a sort of beauty pageant.

What is it with the new drugs that cause damaged veins?  They all seem to have them now.

It says varicose veins are caused by high blood pressure which is common in drug using bb's.

It is extreme - I haven’t seen a case as bad as Nick Walker - should consider treatment

They are disgusting. Yes, they should be marked down. Bodybuilders like Nick Walker have become a symbol of mental illness and early death, not fitness and masculinity like they ought to be. There's no amount of money you could pay me to look like that.

When does it cross over from being vascular (a goal many aspire to and brag about) to varicose (which many criticize)? ???

When the blood pools up instead of being pumped through the body.

Yes. It's when the vein is dialated and the valves dont function properly. The valves function is to stop the blood from pooling/make it easier for the heart to pump. At the calves the veins has to work harder because of gravity and a long way to travel to the heart. That's why it's mroe common to see varicose veins there. Bodybuilders constant high bloodpressure doesnt help and expands the veins more I guess.

They don't have to be from high blood pressure.  Lifting weights, standing for long periods of time and pregnancy cause them as well.

Although I clipped the GIF, the source vid is from early May, so this guy might already have featured elsewhere on GetBig

But I wonder how many people would be happy with something like this..?

Surely to God that must be evidencing at the very least something sub-optimal, even if it's not physically threatening?  I'm recalling Don 'The Ripper' Ross and his early demise, for example...

.  …. I had them removed (vein stripping surgery) they were hurting … sore to the touch and would swell when I walked too much at work…… they came back tho! …. All that money and pain I endured…

Wear tight surgical knee high socks to prevent them coming back.

Once veins are removed surgically, they do not come back. Other veins can emerge due to the underlying issue not being treated.

not true (unfortunately) wish  I had know this before I went thru the very painful and costly surgery!  They are actually programmed to grow back after trauma! “Many patients experience excellent results from surgical procedures to get rid of many varicose veins, but sometimes varicose veins do reoccur. Up to 60 percent of patients may have their varicose veins return after treatment (ii) and this can be frustrating.”

Let me give you another example, if you have a tooth extracted does it return?
I'm just trying to help, you are misinformed.

The underlying condition needs to be addressed and when it's not, then you have a poor result, similar to yours.

ok fair enough! (I’m just telling my own real life experience) I had really bad varicose veins mostly on my Lower legs (shins and calves) I didn’t mind them too much , but people would always say something to me / make comments about them …. Had a girlfriend who talked me into going to a vein specialist (vascular surgeon ) who removed them thru vein stripping surgery and laser ablation … it wasn’t a one time deal ….it fucking hurt like hell! … all the varicose veins were gone …. Now they are back (not as bad as before but still they were completely gone! … I just snapped this pic now….. I’m no expert in veins I just know what I went thru …

Understood and that's a good picture. The vein that was ablated likely was your Greater Saphenous vein, maybe mid calf to groin through the medial/inside of your leg. That picture almost certainly is your Lesser or sometimes called Small Saphenous vein. It communicates with your deep venous system differently than your treated vein. Basically what I'm saying is its a totally different vein.
There is a good chance that you have valvular insufficiency behind your knee at the Sapheno - Popliteal Junction along with deep venous insufficiency.
Stay hydrated during the hot summer months to help avoid phlebitis which is very painful.
Again, I'm just trying to help, sorry you had a less than pleasurable surgical experience.

Thank you! (I really appreciate all the advice ) … they were really bad before! (Like I said people in public would talk about it / and even tell me to get them looked down at…. So they are better than they were. (The other one/ ones? Were a lot bigger and Knarly looking ….I just didn’t expect to see any of them come back … I remember swearing at the doctor while the nurse held me lol… felt like he was pulling them out then burning them? … so I wasn’t an ideal patient… they don’t hurt anymore so that’s a positive!

That looks like an untreated segment of the previously treated vein, but I'm guessing from a single picture. The procedures you had should have been pain free, next time, if there is one, get a script for Valium or similar to help you relax and maybe sleep if no anesthesia is used.
Also, consider an electric razor for those problem areas.
