An important distinction that I was not tracking until someone pointed it out to me: there is a difference between a migrant and an immigrant. A migrant usually goes to another country temporarily for things like work or education. An immigrant is someone who moves to another country with the goal of living permanently in that new country.
That means the thousands of people invading our Southern border are immigrants, not migrants. Just another example of how people continually hijack language, contort definitions, and even invent new words.
I suspect they are using "migrant" to avoid the fact these people are illegal immigrants/aliens. Migrant sounds better.

None of these people plan on returning to their home country.
It's all lies to make people feel better about the situation.
