Post by: Sir William Idol on April 25, 2006, 02:22:35 AM
absolutely fucking rock your calves

after slowly jogging for about 30 minutes in these things with a deep stretch and full extension my calves (after one day) feel like they're rocked through to the bone.

those were supposed to be proven useless since the theory of there creation was how women have great calves from high heal shoes so these can work like that on guy, but i could be mistaken, either way i would rather live under a calf raise machine than walk around in public with those retarded shoes.

looks like someone forgot to tell my calves

they really hit different fibers than the standing and seated raises.  i borrowed these from my brother cause he is now dunking at 6'1" and has been using these for about 6 months.  if you wanted to you could easily replicate the platform out of wood and tape/affix it to an old pair of running shoes.

Personal experience already provided.

The research suggests that it adds calf size. That makes a lot of sense as it's very intense on the calves. Safe if used in a controlled fashion as mentioned earlier, in which case injury risk is minimal and the calves are given a great workout. Similar but not quite the same as walking in sand.

Here's one of many studies. The injuries indicated in the studies were the result of actually trying to use them in athletics to increase performance, which makes very little sense given their inherent instability. Calves grew in size, but the training had little to do with effort to gain size and the whole training routine, attempting to use them in athletics, looks insane.

they work very well. we used them when i was speed skating years ago and my calves blew up. my 40 and 100 yard dash times also improved within a few months of using them.

if you think they don't work you might want to try them and post about how you can't walk the next day.

these definitely work to improve explosive speed and jumping ability.  they are designed for bbal players or similar athletes, not BBs tho

Not designed for bb'ers are they Cavalier22? Well, just to let you know, the very first time I ever saw these types of shoes advertised it was in a bb'ing magazine & if correct were hyped by Boyer Coe & may have even been him selling them also.Just know he was involved w/them in some manner.Ages ago & the memories not the greatest concerning them now.

I saw the same Boyer Coe ad in an old Muscle Mag International when I was in grade school or jr high. Think he designed them for BB'ers and also for jumping abilities. Were not called strength shoes but something else.  It would appear that anything beyond short sprints would put too much stress on the arch & ball of the foot. Just a guess, never have worn or seen one in person. Almost like running up a steep hill would be my impression. Good luck.

well my brother and a couple of my friends who played basketball all used them in high shcool, the info i read on them was all about improving sprint time and vertical leap, quickness....i just assumed it was for sports like that.  ALthough obvi wearing those would strenghten your calves a whole lot
