Intercontinental Seoul COEX in Korea
It is bigger and better equipped than any LA Fitness I’ve been to in the States. The cardio and circuit training area is huge and overlooks the temples across the street. There is a massive free weight area upstairs with HS machines.
When you arrive they offer you a free hour each visit in a sleep room if you need/want it.
A full sports restaurant with fairly reasonable priced meals.
One of the few places I have ever seen an auto inversion table and the old belt machines still in use.
This is basically the only reason I stay at this hotel whenever I am here. Only drawback is that masks are still mandatory everywhere here.

Temple view and sleep room.

Inversion table and belt massager

Breakfast from the sports cafe. Steak, eggs, gnocchi pasta and OJ was about $8 total.
Second photo is something that is rage over here right now. Almost every one in the gym was wearing these things around their lower legs. Some like the photo shows and some with it reversed facing the other way. No idea what they are trying to accomplish with it.

What does their room 7 by the ice machine look like?

Storage closet for Zuba inspired zoom suits.

The calf hugger things are a new fad.
Koreans (and Asians in general) are big on new fads that do jack shit.
Looks like a nice place.

Made no sense to me either. But I will take pics of the weight room later. I just went for some cardio after a 20 hour plane flight to get here.

Nice looking setup, especially for a hotel.
Lurker are those machines the Hoist Rock-Its line by any chance....if so I hate those things.

No they are not. And I hate that line as well. It’s like they were exclusively designed for lazy asses that want to cheat themselves of all effort in the gym.
The Golds Gym replaced all their Flex and Cybex with that crap back in 2007. And over the course six months 90% of the members had left.

Those things absoulutely blow dead dogs.....there are only 2 gyms here in the tiny town I live in.both on college campuses.....one is awesome, and I trained there for 12 years, but now only students are allowed to workout there....the other has the Hoist line so I train at home with limited equipment but it gets the job done and I don`t have to use that Mickey Mouse Hoist BS.

While I don't enjoy gyms like that it does appear to be well-equipped.
One of my kids is in Soule teaching on a 1-year contract.
Loves the place, but still wants to come home when done.
Very clean, not much crime, etc...
Even in their apartment building where they stay, there's a killer gym that sort of looks like that.
Free to use, etc..
-
Sounds great. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Fark! Brutal
Beautiful facilities though 8)

Big if true

Is this in gangnam? You might want to check out Jinju massage parlour for 2 girl "massage" if you haven't already. ;D Although it's around $150.

That is correct. The city is beautiful and amazingly clean. Their economy with cars, electronics and cosmetics is booming. The last time I was here was in 2019 and while I have not visited all of my favorite haunts, the walk about I did today revealed that every business I can remember has survived covid. I do not see any businesses that have closed down or a new shop in their place at the underground mall.
That said, covid precautions are still a big thing. I had to have a rapid covid test within 24 hours of my flight. Anything more than 24 hours was not accepted. Then directly from the plane to a testing site. Where if you tested positive it was straight to quarantine.

Looks like a good gym for a hotel. Why is there a sleep room in a hotel though?

Think it could get bhanky to 405?

Not exactly sure. To be honest, as many times as I have been here I have never seen anyone using it. The door is always open. I just shut it to take the picture.
-
what about taking a crap? do they have a toilet that washes your ass? It´s like the same feeling as rimming. getting your ass licked. ;D
-
I wouldn't use the sleep room because I would be worried people go in there to jack off.

I used one for the first time when I stayed at Hotel the Designers in Gangnam. It was a wonderful feeling ;D

When I stayed at the Aria Hoel in Vegas, they have an epic gym in there as well.
You just have to cut thru the casino where people are smoking, drinking and passed out at the machines to get there.
(And that was at 5 AM)...

Blows dead dogs... LOL.
Are Hoist machines as bad as, or worse than, the Hammer MTS line?
Talk about garbage. The local Gold's was bought out by Planet Shitness, and in short order, they canned all of the "scary" plate-loaded Hammer pieces. I was stupid enough to comment about that to one of the staff, an admittedly really cute little trick who never trained but chain-smoked Marlboro Lights on breaks and seemed to eat Bogangles biscuits every day.
"Oh, these new machines are the same thing!", she said.
The only decent piece of the lot was the MTS pulldown. Its resistance curve was awesome.
Their chest and shoulder press? Laughable. The chest machine had more friction than the epicenter of Rosie O'Donnell's earthquaking thighs; meanwhile, even with the shoulder press' seat set for an exaggerated ROM, the full rack was so light that I terminated a set from boredom.
That MTS garbage was considerably worse than even the BodyMasters crap they brought in. At least their upright bench press could easily be modified to a spotterless close-grip if you secured a sturdy pulldown bar between yourself and the machine's handles.

That’s actually used world wide and in Europe for a long time, It’s standard in a lot of countries
The US needs to get with the program

Well…. Since you brought it up. :D

Actually the #1 supplier of all of EU is the brand American Standard. Which the irony here is the version they sell in EU and Asia is actually illegal in the US. (Due to the water tank capacity and water pressure when flushed )

If their gyms are so good over there, why are they such tiny tits? Do they not use the Weider Principles or believe in nutrient cocooning?

Where’s the penetration button? (Asking for Taffin because he’s too scared and a little embarrassed)

I`ve never used the Hammer MTS line but the Hoist Roc-its actually rock when you use them.....hard to explain but they flat out suck.

Hoist actually reduce the full range of movement by “assisting” you through the start to finish position. Which reduces workload and tension.
For instance when you do a seated chest press and push the handles out, the seat actually moves backwards to help you achieve lock out easier.
When doing a seated pull down when you pull the bar down, the seat moves upwards so you meet the bar at the half was point. It’s pointless and stupid.

Because it seems (to me) that they avoid bodybuilding and instead just “exercise” and have a poor protein diet overall.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Health protocols of peas…

Various types of soups and organic vegetables are the rage over here. Went to a Korean BBQ last night and the restaurant was full. About 65% were foreigners which you could tell by the food they ordered. The locals tended to order a ton of veggies, mushrooms, soup, tofu, etc.. but very little beef. The rest of us was ordering beef like it was going out of style.

Korean BBQ is great. Do they bring you all those little plates of sides with it? I had it in Manhattan and it came with about 20 sides :D

Yes. It is like everything they have ever found growing on the ground.

There is also some pro soccer team staying here at the hotel. They have the entire 15-16 floors booked. I have no idea who the hell they are since I don’t follow soccer. But there are mobs of fans outside. Only for one player though it seems. All the other players barely get a point and clap but this one dude gets a rock star response every time he comes outside.
-
Asked this soccer player what all the meds in his box were for. He said they were various pain meds for on the field injuries. I thought to myself “that’s a lot pain pills for a bunch of fake leg injuries. “
-
Going back to the subject of toilets…. This is the kind they have in all the malls here. Take a look at the green button. I guess you only use that for when you need a douche that kicks in the back door and hoses down your colon with the force of a pressure washer.

Thank you for explaining that far better than I could.

The Best Western Columbus-North had a really good gym from what I can remember.
120lb Ivanko dumbbells, Ivanko plates, Nebula leg press. It was actually decent and pretty hardcore.
Used to be my go-to spot when I would go to the Arnold Classic.

I always considered hoist as more therapy equipment.

I did not realize this would have started in Europe and then make its way to the US, but it makes perfect sense now.
Have all of your restaurants converted to Taco Bell as well?

Last day. It’s been a great week. Couldn’t ask for a better holiday. Especially when Delta had a first class round trip fare for only $1200.00 that I snagged at the last minute.
If you have never been to Seoul then I would encourage you to give it a consideration. It’s a beautiful city. Very clean. Practically crime free. Very cultured and polite. Lots to see and do. This was my 5th trip here and I’m glad I came.

First Class for that price? Man, that's a steal. Wow. Glad it was a good trip.

Yeah, the guy I do travel photography for got it through his agency. It was literally last minute. Like “hey it’s 10:30am right now and this plane leaves at 8:06am tomorrow morning. You want it?”
So away I went. Ha!

You should try Brick Oven New York pizza.
