He ended up as a sad delusional caricature of himself :'(

Though I like Ronnie, while he was Mr. O I didnt.
At the time I thought he was mentally challenged. Had no idea what he was babbling about 1/2 the time.
After he retired and seeing another part to h im, and his TV doc, I got to liking him.
If he's having fun doing this, more power to him...

I would last about 10 seconds in that guys company ....

Why on earth is he doing this? (seriously) Is he broke and gets paid for "appearances" like that? ???

I don´t think it´s about money but sadly to say a failing popularity.. no champ wants to fade away
Everyone has their day.

A prime Ronnie would have tossed that annoying fucker right out of the gym as soon as he opened his mouth.
-
I don't get it. Yates lifted heavy and tore muscles just like Ronnie but he is pretty injury free and healthy in retirement. Did Ronnie's injuries come after 2006-2007, his late 2 Os?

Was this before he did a cycle and lost his hair to play his part in The Green Mile?

Imagine having no Instagram when he was the “king”. Since most bodybuilders have only muscles to show for, attention is everything. Seeing guys half his prime size having such huge following must really be painfull.

Instagram and Youtube have changed bodybuilding. You no longer need to win shows, you just need a large following.
It would be interesting to see how the bodybuilders from the 90's would have done things differently if Instagram and Youtube were available then. Magazines were important in the 90's, now they're irrelevant.
My point for making the zyzz thread was he ushered in the era of Instagram bodybuilding and aesthetics. He was more influential than many on here believe.

Times are different now than they used to be. I'd say: age gracefully, and behave accordingly, instead of trying to keep up with the newer generations at any cost ::)
Next he's on "TIK TOK" I guess...

Is he on anyones dead pool list?
I’m guessing once he hits mid 50s he should using a fully motorized scooter to move around.
Ronnie turned 58 in May. Around May 13th. He probably has been in a motorized scooter before. He's definitely been seen with a walker.
He's not on my Dead Pool List, but he may be getting close to the end of his life. Clearly he has incredible genetics to sustain PED abuse and high body weight though, so I don't know.
All that and a 180mg daily oxycodone habit. Impressive.
-

Yes, at least the surgeries did.

While Ronnie claimed it was doing what he had to do to win the Olympias that turned him into the injured person he is today, it was almost entirely his post-Olympia stupidity that did it.
Not to bash Ronnie - I'm a big fan - but had he just lifted 30-lb dumbbells in retirement, he'd probably be a bigger version of Lee Haney right now, instead of in such massive pain daily.

Dorian isn't injury free. His left shoulder, bicep, and triceps don't allow him to train. He's said he couldn't even do flat bench with 135 lbs. He seems to know what his injuries allow him to do and still keeps in shape by biking and hiking.

I don't think so, I'm quite sure the damage had already been done by the time he retired. I mean, the guy was training like that for decades... :D

I didn't realize his injuries occurred after his Olympia wins. Very poor judgement.
He mentioned in an interview that he never once thought about getting injured in the gym.

He actually had a disc prolapse quite early in his career, before he even was Mr. Olympia

I think most of his damage was done while he was high on opiates, which was probably most of his career
Doing damage and not feeling the pain isnt a good thing

I'll let Ronnie know how you feel, but he will ask, "Why is Kreator watching me act a fool of it's so disgusting to watch? He needs some standards in his life. YEAH BUDDY! BOOOOOO! Ask him what he thinks about that?"
Just son you know he will be asking why are you wasting your time watching him limp around training this twink?
-
While we all have different opinions on what Ronnie should & shouldn't be Doing
In His life Quite Frankly WTF has it got to do with any of us ??
He always appears Happy & Smiling & Doing as he wants.
If Ronnie or anyone else was to look at each of our lives I'm sure we'd all find something to criticise / Disagree with.
He's Not hurting any one else - Just let him do as he pleases & enjoy himself
& Concern ourselves with our Own oh So Perfect Lives. ;D

I didn’t watch the video. I’m already to busy watching other retarded sh1t

LOL.
So Ronnie has basically spent the past decade in an opiate stupor.
He seems happy. I just wanted him to be around for a lot longer. But hey - he's had a good life.

This was the best choice, I like that Ronnie is so nice that he would shoot these videos no matter who asked. It makes me sad because these nerds dont get who they're with.

I think he had a major injury in his lower back from his college football days, never healed properly and another injury some time before his first Olympia. However all those injuries were nothing more than a couple herniated disks, what destroyed him according to him was that he fell victim to a fraudster doctor that he started oparating him, just for monetary gains, I think he had more than 10 surgeries, each cost six figures. He detailed the whole story in some podcasts, couple of years ago I think. Sad story

Exactly right on the timeline of Ronnie's back injuries. In 1996, he had some back trouble that seemed to have gotten better by 2000, which I think was when he reported it. In football, he had some other even less significant back issues.
But I had no idea about that fraudster doctor. If that story is true, WOW!

The doctor fucked up his back more and more with each surgery. In one of tge surgeries I thi k he had some screws placed in his bones somewhere. And the screws brokeoff in the bone causing the bone to fracture. I don't remember where at but pretty sure it was high up in the back.
Each surgery was one clusterfuck worse than the last.
-
The surgeries are crazy. Strange how he didnt go to a reputable doctor. And how these fraudsters are allowed to operate. But I dont think back is his only problem. For example both of his quads are torn.

Stop blaming doctors for his stupidity. Listen going back into the gym lifting shit loads of weight with screws in your back is just plain dumb.
Stop writing your nonsense..
I get it Ronnie is your idol but please be honest about his actions.

Exactly. I guess it's a safety mechanism for your own mental health to blame others for your plight instead of your own irresponsible actions. Sure, it must have been a greedy doctor who f*cked him up, not training like that for decades lol

prolapsed discs dont get better, they only get worse or if your careful they stay the same

This can happen too.
[Herniated discs may also exhibit calcification [2], and calcified discs may adhere to the epidural membrane, complicating surgical treatment and introducing a high risk of cerebral spinal fluid leakage [3]. Calcification of degenerative discs mainly resides in the herniated portion of the disc near the spinal canal.]

Great job of Googling Dr. FUCKFACE. :D

I’m guessing once he hits mid 50s he should using a fully motorized scooter to move around.
I'm imagining Ronnie pitching those Rascal scooters they used to sell on late night tv -
"Hi, I'm Ronnie Coleman, 8x Mr. Olympia, but around Metroflex they call me Rascal Ronnie. I thought mobility scooters were just for the elderly and cripples as we call them here in Texas, but then I thought of all the Arnold Classics, Mr. Olympias, and parties with friends I was missing because of joint pain, and I got me one. It's lighter than a peanut and easy maneuver around the shows and the squat rack.
I guess you could say I'ma little rascal on my little Rascal."

You can blame the doctor for one surgery, not ten and there should have been a second opinion on every surgery. Ronnie going back into the gym and lifting heavy is on him and so is the decision on the doctor.
They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He did the same thing over and over ten times and expected different results each time and it wasn't bodybuilding that caused Ronnie's injuries, but power lifting. None of these injuries occurred with a weight he could do eight reps with.
-

Settle down. I had made exactly one post in this thread about his injuries. In fact I think that's the only time Ive ever posted anything about his injuries on any forum anywhere.
So don't act like im obsessively talking about or defending Ronnie's actions.
. He's my idol now too? Man, wtf are you talking about?
