I met Chuck in Gold’s Gym in October 1968. Same month that Arnold started training there. Took a photo and sent it to Muscle Training Illustrated. A funny story about a contest in Tijuana that month. Arnold entered the tall class so Chuck entered the medium height under 5-9 class and won…he was 5-11! We chatted about that after I watched his interview on Ric’s Corner. We were both born in 1942 so he made it to 80. He told me he was very happy with his life. Chuck had an excellent physique but couldn’t compete with giants like Arnold and Sergio. Who could in those days?
I did get a photo then ran out of film with no spare. Curse not having digital cameras back then.
