Title: Planet Fitness
Post by: bhank on August 08, 2022, 06:18:33 AM
So need a new gym in my work location as I will be staying in an extended stay during the week. Trying to be more frugal so the question is does planet fitness really serve free pizza with a workout? Its only 25 a month and no startup fee. I can eat 25 worth of pizza a week no problem half a pizza every workout. Is it always there or just certain times is there a slice limit?

Thanks

Mondays, small slices, not sure on limit - https://www.planetfitness.com/community/articles/real-story-behind-planet-fitness-pizza-monday .

Be warned that they don't like heavy lifting, and things like deadlifts.

I should have known unlimited nightly pizza for 25$ a month was too good to be true

Yep, and sometimes they'll just physically walk over and stop you, they're serious about that rule -

Truly planet fitness sucks. They don’t have bench presses at least the ones I’ve been at, dumbbells stopped at 70s for insurance purposes, curl bars only go up to 60, people walking around making sure you don’t train to hard. But if nothing else around it will do the trick. I’ve been to a couple on vacations and that’s just what I’ve seen going back a few years though.

Yes, and if some of the stories are true, B. Hank could set it off just for being in shape.

For 25 bucks and the way you train it should be fine.

Why don’t you tell us where you are working so we can help find you a nice hardcore gym.

Just pay a day pass for a legit gym.  You are not on the skids and should not disgrace yourself in a place like Planet Fatness just for pizza, bagles, and candy.

planet fitness near me is only 10 a month, 25 if you want all the benefits including massage chairs use

they don't serve pizza or any food either...

dumbbells end at 75 pounds, ez-bar and regular barbells end at 60/70 I think..

I walked in a local one, my wife wanted to have a look for her and the kids when I went back into the office for a while (years ago) and joined a "Crunch" near work.
(The local "Crunch" was actually excellent, it closed during the great scamdemmik).

The guy working (at PF) basically said "this gym is not for you" when looking me over. He didnt want me to join.

When I told him I would never, I was just there with her, he looked very relieved.  LOL

Brian, they are 10.00 a month over here, maybe the price went up in some locations??

The complete irony was that their ad campaign was about being a "judgement free zone".

Which really meant, "judgement free AFTER we completely judge you and determine if you fit our criteria".

The kid may have been doing it for my benefit as well as their managers.
You could tell he wasn't comfortable saying it, so they may ask them to "recommend" to some folks "it may not be for them".

One of my kids worked at one for a year or so, said the place was ridiculous with stupid rules, stupid managers...

I joined for a dollar once since it was next to a place where my kids went when they were little , and thought I could get workouts in.

Quit after a month.

Was ok I guess, just not for me.  Didn't see the extreme examples of gluttony and pizza that you see online, but just didn't like the vibe.

Planet Fitness is defending its decision to ban the membership of a customer in Alaska who spoke out about a “man in women’s locker room shaving.”

Patricia Silva left the gym in Fairbanks, Alaska and shared a video on Facebook where she said: “I just came out of Planet Fitness. There is a man shaving in the women’s bathroom.”

She also said the man "woman" was in the locker room at the same time as a 12 year old girl.

When women demanded equality I'm pretty sure they didn't envision this.

Planet fitness is a. Okay gym but not meant for strong people. They have a ton of machines that have pin wight stacks and they don’t go that heavy.  I can max out all machines. The only way to lift heavy weights is on the smith machine but they only have 4 and they are always occupied by morons doing 1 inch bench press trying to life wights wayyy beyond their means or chicks hogging them for hours doing those pelvic raises.  They do have a ton of cardio machines that are barely used but who actually does cardio?
