Title: Gold's Gym Documentary
Post by: stuntmovie on September 18, 2022, 10:43:45 AM
A documentary on Gold's Gym and the good old days of bodybuilding.

Do a search and watch some interesting footage.

Better yet .... If you live in the Venice Beach area, go and see the entire film this coming Sunday  at a film festival, Sept 25, at Beyond Baroque

The documentary is called DREAM BIG and definitely worth a watch and will soon be available to watch within the internet.

My congrats to MARC MARTINEZ for a job well done and the hard work he has been doing to get this film to the public.

I kinda sorta look forward to seeing this.  Thanks Stunt!  Did you get my reply on Kroger?

SCOTT, Yes I did and will respond with more details soon.

MARC sent me the entire film (Dream Big) a while back before it was completed and I give it an A even though Mark's doc starts within the early 70's while my Gold's Gym memories start in the early 1960's .... and possibly even earlier in the 50's when I discovered a huge, ground floor room full of gym gear which would appear to have been made by Joe himself

I believe that room was in the tall building on the original Muscle Beach which is now an apartment building called The Sand Castle if I recall correctly.

I totally believe that that discovery was the real origination of Gold's Gym but needless to say , "Anyone who can recall those good old, long lost days have past away and are now training elsewhere where it never rains or simply gets too damn hot!"

BUT .... A lot of those old day, pre-1970's 'stuffs' are briefly mentioned during a good number of interesting interviews whom most GetBigger may recall .... or have even possibly lifted heavy things with.

DREAM BIG .... Highly recommended when it becomes available.

I'd give this doc an A++ if Marc had solved the Joe Gold type gym equipment mystery I discovered in the 1950's.

It looks great, but it lacks too many things like not enough peeling and overall schmoedom. My film is better. Rated NC-17

that's a good one, jay is a heck of an actor. he always has that confused look about him like he isn't entirely aware of his surroundings.

Haha thanks! I scoured the internet for vids of Jay peeling, and it didn’t take very long
