Where does he post this stuff?
Matt, you can one arm press a 140lb dumbbell over head? That seems crazy to me to do one arm and very difficult. I know your strong but wanted to confirm you can do this?
It's weird, because I felt this should have been no problem this week...I guess the weight loss is affecting me somewhat, or being off Anadrol. Although it's been a month now...I figured most of the beneficial effects would have been gone by now. But it could have been that.
But I for sure felt a little crackle in my back, and immediately bailed. To be honest, I'm a little impatient to get my deadlift back in the 500 range. I was supposed to do 420x5 today, and I should have stuck with my plan. It's just muscle memory [strength memory], so there's absolutely no reason for me to deviate from my plan. But...I just got impatient wishing to get back to 500, so I tried this pull and missed.
I really felt I was at least at around 475 now, but...I guess not.
I'll just have to tolerate waiting to get back to the 500+ range. I know that 550 is a bit of a pipe dream at my weight, but I'm still going to take it as close as I can.

Yes, I can. I only have picture/video confirmation of 125-lb, and the only two gyms that go to 140+ dumbbells are both across town. The two gyms I go to only go up to 120's, but I can churn out a video doing 120 for reps this week, depending on how my back feels after missing that deadlift last night.
But don't be too impressed with the one-arm dumbbell press:
It's not like pressing 140's [one in each hand].
When you nail the form, you are really putting more than just one half into it. If I had to guess, John Haack missed 160 because he hasn't nailed the form. Also the size of that thing seems even more difficult as well as standing makes it more difficult.
When you master the form...really master it...you can probably press 75% of your max log press.
So the reason why you're impressed is [I think] because you are looking at it like a one-arm lift.
But it's not - you really put both sides of your body [and pressing power] into it to some extent.
So a person who can do seated dumbbell presses with 105's should be able to press 140 in one hand, with good technique.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend it if you don't compete. It's awkward AF, lol. It puts your spine in a bad position, and is probably a way bigger injury risk than most presses.
I just happen to be used to it, so I can do it.
Whether I hit 160...well...it's just a goal. I am expecting to get it to 150, but really anything over that is a bonus.
It would be cool to get a Canadian record, but it would be a hard lift for me.
Currently, the overall world records are Mateusz Kieliszkowski with 330, and Samanthan Belliveau with 182 for women. :o
So 160 is not a grand lift by any means, but I'll be very happy if I get it.
Here's 125-lb that I got at one of the Thunder Bay's Strongest Manlet contests:
I am just wondering how you think you are going to lose another 20lbs and somehow get stronger and where the 405lb squat is coming from when we haven’t seen you squat 315lbs yet. Do tell when is the contest?

Green with envy with Matty’s feats of strength….X 2

Half truth hankins at it again.
So in summary for anyone who doesn’t have an hour Matt has lost 10lbs intends to lose 20 more then break National Circus dumbells record at 175lbs steroid free all of his lifts will go up considerably as he drops another 20lbs since he is training for strength now. Also he is just declaring a 405lb squat due to his leg pressing ability no need to check by squatting 315lbs first. He failed at a 475lb deadlift yesterday but once he drops 20lbs more pounds he should be able to get 545lbs in competition he gets extra points because it will all be steroid free
