Unless I missed your posts, y'all have been mum about the Republican Representative-elect for Long Island/Northeast Queens area, George Santos' ginormous pack of lies about his credentials scandal. How interesting! Maybe you thought no one would notice... or it would just go away.
Check it out if you haven't already. George Santos as lied about everything in his past from his being married, who he worked for, his education, his financial status, where his campaign money came from, his criminal history and even his ethnicity and yet he plans on taking office in January as a Republican House Representative.
What is even more absurd is now that he has been caught with his pants down, he is qualifying the lies and fabricating ridiculous excuses for them. I mean really... the flood gates on lying wannabe politicians have opened.
I am very interested to know how any of you feel about him taking office come January. Maybe you think this is just another example of the media smearing Republicans. Before you say this is what it is, I highly recommend you read about it, so you don't end up making as big a fool of yourselves as he has of himself.

Perhaps you are right. If the competition (the Democratic party and candidate Robert Zimmerman) uncovered even half of Santos' lies and made them public, Zimmerman might have won the day. On the other hand, had the Republican party done their due diligence, they could have backed a legitimate candidate and saved themselves from this embarrassment. In a statement Monday, the Republican Jewish Coalition said Santos "deceived us and misrepresented his heritage."

It is true that a lie is a lie. However, you are comparing apples and oranges here.
You and I both know that your question is pointless because Biden will never be asked to vacate the Presidency. Even if all the supposed Biden lies which were made eons ago were proved, what difference do they make now?
Technically, George Santos is not yet a member of the House. Congress convenes at noon on January 3, 2023. About 2/3rds the way through the agenda, the oath of office for the newly elected and re-elected members is administered by the (newly elected) Speaker of the House.
Assuming McCarthy is selected Speaker of the House, there is a possibility he will refuse to give Santos the oath of office. Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution does say that “each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members.”
It wouldn't surprise me if this issue never gets that far. Santos attempted to explain the lies but he has not cleared them up or apologized for telling them, plus there may be more to come since now his campaign financing is under question. I don't recall these being her words, but she did issue mandates and advisements which I pretty much followed whenever possible and unlike too many folks who ignored them, I am still alive, healthy and COVID free. Guess she knew what she was talking about, which is more than I can say for you.
BTW, you might be interest to know that I scheduled a second COVID booster at the pharmacy for tomorrow at 2:00 pm. My first and previous booster was in November 2021, so I am a little behind on them. I think it is recommended old farts like me get them every 6 months.
Speaking of COVID and fear of getting COVID, my very good friends whom I've known for more than 50 years invited me to dinner on January 3rd.
Both have compromising health issues which could be devastating and perhaps life ending should either of them get COVID. Nancy had cancer which was treated with chemo several years ago that permanently wrecked her immune system and caused congestive heart failure. Patrick has had a couple of heart surgeries and he is even older than I am... hard to believe that is possible.
Anyway, before getting together with them after several years of their hibernating, I agreed to give myself a COVID rapid test to make sure I am COVID free and cannot pass the virus to them. I am really looking forward to visiting with my good friends again.
The main reason I mentioned this is because I think you need some new material. Your posts regarding my wearing a "nappy" have become enormously boring. This should give you something to rag on about for at least a year or so.

Prosecutors open investigation into Rep.-Elect George Santos.
Long Island prosecutors have launched an investigation into U.S. Rep.-elect George Santos of New York, after revelations surfaced that the now-embattled Republican lied about his heritage, education and professional pedigree as he campaigned for office.
But despite intensifying doubt about his fitness to hold federal office, Santos has thus far shown no signs of stepping aside — even as he has publicly admitted to a long list of lies.
“The numerous fabrications and inconsistencies associated with Congressman-Elect Santos are nothing short of stunning," said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly, a Republican.
“The residents of Nassau County and other parts of the third district must have an honest and accountable representative in Congress,” she said. "No one is above the law and if a crime was committed in this county, we will prosecute it.”
Santos’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
He is scheduled to be sworn in next Tuesday, when the U.S. House reconvenes. If he assumes office, he could face investigations by the House Committee on Ethics and the Justice Department.
The New York attorney general’s office has already said it is looking into some of the issues that have come to light.
The Republican has admitted to lying about having Jewish ancestry, a Wall Street pedigree and a college degree, but he has yet to address other lingering questions — including the source of what appears to be a quickly amassed fortune despite recent financial problems, including evictions and owing thousands in back rent.
Some fellow Republicans had called for Congress and law enforcement to launch inquiries.
Fellow Long Island Republican, Rep.-elect Nick Lalota said he was troubled by the revelations.
“I believe a full investigation by the House Ethics Committee and, if necessary, law enforcement, is required,” Lalota said Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Nassau County DA’s office, Brendan Brosh, said Wednesday: “We are looking into the matter.” The scope of the investigation was not immediately clear.
Other Republicans castigated Santos for his dishonesty but stopped short of asking him to step aside.
“Congressman-Elect George Santos has broken the public trust by making serious misstatements regarding his background, experience and education, among other issues,” said Joseph G. Cairo, chair of the Nassau County Republican Committee, which lies within the 3rd Congressional District.
Cairo said he “expected more than just a blanket apology,” adding that “the damage that his lies have caused to many people, especially those who have been impacted by the Holocaust, are profound.”

Questions intensified after The New York Times examined the narrative Santos, 34, presented to voters during his successful campaign for a congressional district that straddles the north shore suburbs of Long Island and a sliver of Queens.
The Times uncovered records in Brazil that show Santos was the subject of a criminal investigation there in 2008 over allegations that he used stolen checks to buy items at an clothing shop in the city of Niteroi. At the time, Santos would have been 19. The Times quoted local prosecutors as saying the case was dormant because Santos had never appeared in court.
Santos continued to deny that he was being sought by authorities in South America.
Democrats pounced, calling Santos a serial fabulist and demanded he voluntarily not take office.
In an interview with the New York Post earlier this week, Santos apologized for his fabrications but downplayed them as “sins” over embellishing his resume, adding that “we do stupid things in life.”
He admitted to lying about working for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, as well as having earned a degree in finance and economics from Baruch College in New York.
Beyond his resume, Santos invented a life story that has also come under question, including claims that his grandparents “fled Jewish persecution in Ukraine, settled in Belgium, and again fled persecution during WWII.”
During his campaign, he referred to himself as “a proud American Jew.”
He backtracked on that claim, saying he never intended to claim Jewish heritage, which would have likely raised his appeal among his district’s significant ranks of Jewish voters.
“I am Catholic,” he told the Post. “Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background I said I was ‘Jew-ish.’”
In a statement Tuesday, the Republican Jewish Coalition repudiated Santos.
“He deceived us and misrepresented his heritage. In public comments and to us personally he previously claimed to be Jewish,” the coalition said. “He will not be welcome at any future RJC event.”
Santos lost his first race for Congress in 2020 but successfully ran again this year.
In its opposition research on Santos, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised several red flags about the Republican’s record — but also accepted some of his assertions, including his educational record, as fact. The 87-page dossier sought to tie him to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and his support for baseless claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election. The report also sought to depict him as a far-right candidate. But buried within its report, the DCCC had raised issues about his shaky financial standing and multiple evictions that left him thousands of dollars in debt.
Federal campaign records show that he loaned his campaign more than $700,000, but the source of that money has yet to be explained.
“George Santos is delusional if he thinks voters will trust him after he’s been exposed for lie after lie and continues to withhold key information,” DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre said.
While his Democratic opponent, Robert Zimmerman, also tried to raise Santos’ misrepresentations during his losing campaign, it did not gain much traction.
Zimmerman had said that Santos was unfit for office and has called for him to step aside so a special election can be held.

Seriously? Why would I start on that? There are plenty of folks here who will do that for me. Unless your head is up your ass, you must admit that this character George Santos is over-the-top when it comes to lying. The latest lie I heard he told was about his mother dying because of 9/11. That she died 15 years after that event and that there is no record of her ever working in a job or other circumstances which put her in proximity to the twin towers, only adds to the ridiculousness of this character’s pathological lying.
If there were someone who matched his record of outrageous lies in such a short period of time and at this juncture of their political career, they'd be big news regardless of their party affiliation, I would post about it.

It is possible I would have indirectly voted for John Edwards had I voted for John Kerry who ran for President in 2004. It wasn't until 2008 that John Edward's extramarital affair and campaign violations were found out. As we know in 2008, he was not the Democratic nominee, Obama was. I voted for Obama.
John Edwards was never convicted of any of the 6 charges he was indicted with in 2011. But his reputation was ruined because of his misdeeds, mainly that he had an extramarital affair which resulted in a child born out of wedlock. This was further magnified because at the time of the affair, his wife was dying of cancer. It is not clear how this would have played out had it happened today.
Like I posted a lie is a lie. However, Edwards lies are far outnumbered by those of George Santos' and Santos' lies are far ranging which grows bigger by the day, whereas Edward's extramarital affair was very specific. The only thing we can be sure is true about Santos' story is that he is chubby... unless of course he pads his clothes. :)
There is not much of a comparison between these two fellows and their situations. I think the major difference is Edwards was not elected whereas Santos has been. The people who voted for Santos in Queens and Long Island are kind of stuck with him unless McCarthy refuses to confirm him and he doesn't end up in prison.
If Santos were a Democrat, I would feel no differently about him. This issue goes way beyond partisan politics. He is one sick, colossally lying fellow. This situation would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Santos's Aide Reportedly Claimed to Be Kevin McCarthy's Chief of Staff.
The fabulist Republican congressman representing New York’s Third District is not the only person associated with the George Santos campaign who allegedly lied about themselves while seeking donations. A member of Santos’s political team impersonated Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s chief of staff, CNBC reports.
Rich Republican donors fielded calls and email messages from Dan Meyer, McCarthy’s chief of staff, over the last two election cycles, asking for money to help Santos get elected. Or so they thought.
A wealthy financier who donated to the Santos campaign told CNBC that the person calling was actually Sam Miele, a staffer employed by Santos to raise money for the campaign.
It's unclear how McCarthy will react to the new developments because he has been silent on the matter since the revelations began to unspool several weeks ago.
In the lead-up to last week’s 15 votes to elect McCarthy to the speakership position, the Republican leader had gone to great lengths not to do anything that would lose him votes, including Santos's.
In need of every vote he could get, McCarthy appeared to ignore the accusations against Santos, and during the rounds of voting, Santos was seen on the House floor hobnobbing with influential far right-wing Republicans like Reps. Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Santos voted for McCarthy.
The latest development comes as Santos was officially made the subject of an ethics complaint filed by the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center with the Federal Elections Commission on Monday, which alleges a wide range of campaign finance violations.
The accusations include hiding sources of income, lying about campaign expenditures, and using campaign funds to pay for personal costs.
Santos has yet to respond to reporters’ questions. Instead, since arriving on Capitol Hill, Santos has continually dodged reporters, often trying to escape their questions by running away from them through the corridors of Congress.
After being revealed to have made up facts about himself, Santos admitted to lying about his heritage, professional experience, education, wealth, and other basic details of his biography.
Local and federal prosecutors in New York have acknowledged opening investigations into possible crimes associated with Santos’s lies.
Likewise, officials in Brazil have reopened a criminal investigation into old fraud charges involving Santos.
A month before his 20th birthday, Santos entered a small clothing store in the Brazilian city of Niterói outside Rio de Janeiro and bought close to $700 worth of goods using a stolen checkbook and fake name, according to court records reviewed by The New York Times.
Santos admitted to the fraud in August 2009 on a Brazilian social media site. The following year, accompanied by his mother, he told authorities that he used checks stolen from his mom’s former boss to buy clothes.
In September 2011, a Brazillian judge approved the charges and ordered Santos to enter a response, which he failed to do, having moved to the United States by October, the Times reports.
Despite the admissions Santos made in official proceedings in Brazil previously, Santos recently denied being involved in criminal activity.
“I am not a criminal here — not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world,” he told the New York Post when asked about his lies.

As bizarre as the whole George Santos situation is, I think the Washington Post article which is linked below 'hits the nail on the head'. My questions are these; should Santos get assigned to any House committees and what happens if he is arrested, charged, convicted, and goes to prison for crimes he may have committed? Probably because this kind of think happening is so rare there few clear rules on how the House handles it.
Here is the relevant information I found; 'Members of the House are, however, instructed by House Rules not to vote in committee or on the House floor once they have been convicted of a crime for which the punishment may be two or more years’ imprisonment. Furthermore, under party rules, Members may lose their chairmanships of committees or ranking member status upon conviction of a felony. Conviction of certain crimes may subject—and has subjected in the past—Members of the House to internal legislative disciplinary proceedings, including resolutions of reprimand or censure, as well as expulsion from the House upon approval of two-thirds of the Members." Since the current Republican House majority margin is so small, it seems unlikely any Republicans would vote in favor of ousting Santos. Santos would still be able to vote on House bills.

Keep in mind that so far most of the other Republicans in the House appear to think he is an okay guy. In fact, he seems to be most closely aligned with the hard right. McCarthy handed him two committee assignments. One of them is the House Small Business Committee. This seems like a good choice since Santos has business experience... monkey business, that is. The other one is the House Science, Space and Technology Committee. Santos is definitely somewhere 'out in space' so this too is a great fit for him. ;D
