Yep, that's what he is referring to and SpaceX had turned down funding from the US Department of Defense to help pay for the system’s operational costs – which he estimated last year would reach $100 million by the end of 2022

I agree with you, and I agree with you on Musk being controlled opposition. Where we may disagree slightly, is that controlled opposition can get out of hand.
The system did everything possible to get Trump out of power, and it took a fake pandemic and mail-in voting to finally get rid of him. Trump literally bypassed the entire political and media machine that gatekeeps who becomes POTUS.
Once he was in, the usual attempts to either remove or co-opt him took place. And he's out [for now].
I do think in this sense, Musk could also bypass a lot of the mainstream controls that are in place.
Look at Putin - apparently he has destroyed $1 TRILLION in NATO arms, at the cost of only $50 billion for Russia.
Those with the power currently are not untouchable. If they boil the frog too quickly [which has been happening lately], they can be removed from authority.
I feel like if Musk is good for one thing, it's that he actually does believe in free speech. Big Tech censorship is out of hand, and he did clean up Twitter nicely. So I am still a fan of his.

Like who do they think will ever read it and what consequence will it have? And it's not like there's any "debate" whatsoever, just snarky comments, thousands volunteering the same information/snarky comment. And on top of that most accounts are bots. Fucking awful Lol.

I guess it isn't too hard to make bots fake tweets. It would have been harder to pull that off on Facebook. I'm glad Elon exposed the bot situation. Utterly pathetic.
He also laid off something like 80% of Twitter staff, who were literally all there to act as censors. How unbelievably pathetic, to think how much money these scumbags paid just to control speech. Now Twitter will cost way less to run, and make more money.
It really is just about the narrative today, rather than profit.

I have heard of entire call centre-sized operations filled with people hired just to make pro-government posts. I think my friend said Russia was doing that. I wouldn't call those real people "bots", but perhaps one person controlling 100 fake Twitter accounts sort of qualifies.
More recently, I assumed bots were literally AI accounts. Programmed by people, but not actually people.
And on top of that, you have high profile people buying fake followers, lol. Twitter is a toilet, but it has improved lately.

Israel supposedly has the most sophisticated troll farms, online activists trying to shape public opinion on forums, comment threads, etc. "Hasbara" trolls they are called. Propaganda.
