hes dieting and as such in a deficit, he isnt really goping to gain anything so close to a show
Its way too risk doing heavy weights so close
Last two weks for me is flushing and pumping sets to keep the muscles full.

By "front press" do you mean OHP?

If so, that's practically unheard-of & 100x more impressive than a five plate bench.

IIRC the push press world record isn't far from five plates, and that's for one rep.

This, for instance, is an incredibly impressive lift:

I’ve said this many times … and I have caught heat for saying it.

But it is FACT.

A majority of top-level bodybuilders are strongest during the two or three months before a competition.

During this time, they are blasting the most gear. As well, there is something to the hyper (and predominantly unnatural) fat-burning process that massively boosts strength and performance. Heck, some fat-burning drugs themselves have dramatic performance-enhancing effects.

This isn’t speculation.

I have seen this TIME AND AGAIN, as well as have been told as much, first hand, by countless IFBB professionals and legends.

It doesn’t matter for me this guy, not like he’ll go far as a pro, might as well lift as heavy as he can

I believe Dallas Mcgarver was the strongest high level bb.

He was doing 900 deadlifts and 500 bench inclines for reps.

He was also using more gear than anyone so makes sense...

Dont think anyone close right now but could be wrong

Yeah those deadlifts were absolutely ridiculous. His physique on that day was also absolutely ridiculous. He was so jacked he looked potentially fragile, something would have to give. One of the most impressive things I've seen.

being a strong bodybuilder always come around to bite them in the ass

if you're pro - you're paying your mortgage on appearances and contract/instagram money

you become some strength clown and have to produce ungodly feats of strength to make money

instead of concentrating on the movement , specificity and building quality tissue - you have to be a whore to numbers

then you get injured - it seems like very "strong" dude Is just waiting to get hurt and then talk about that

best bodybuilders have longevity , no injuries , no cool ultimate squat vids (haven't seen jay cutlers 800lb squat vid but Ronnie is in a wheelchair )

Damnit. Don't make a thread about the strongest bodybuilder if you aren't going to talk about his strict curl. What kind of bullshit is this? Sure levrone and Ronnie were strong but ever notice how they shied away from the strict curl? It aint for pussies.

Didn't Levrone curl the 100lb dumbbells for a bunch of reps, though?  Even if he cheated, that's a hell of a lot more impressive than a 160-pound "strict curl" for one rep, lmao.

It’s a valid point but I think the sensational lifts are some of the best marketing a bodybuilder can do.  Ronnie’s lifts get talked about more than his contest showings, and I think they’ll get talked about for as long as pro lifting is a “thing”.  Gotta tread that line between risk:reward very very carefully, though.

I met efferding a few weeks ago.   In person - i witnessed from 5 feet away - he was benching 315 like nothing for reps and just casually walked over to 650 and lifted it off the floor with may more in the tank.

Johnnie Jackson was overrated in the strength dept , seen him train many times, branch was stronger than him and pretty much all lifts too except maybe deadlifting

Branch on squats, and upper body shoulder, chest pressing blows johnnie out of the water and not even close

Put it this way:  way more people have watched his lifting than his posing on stage.

Lifting heavy weights has widespread appeal, doing battle in a thong does not.
