Really hits my Quads a bit like front squats..Well at least for me.
Safe if you've back problems. I think the key thing is not to use stupid weights on these.

I used to do barbell hacks. I used to work up to 405LB

Due to the fact that trap bars have become more prevalent in gyms, most people skip barbell hacks, and use the trap bar

 I used to do these [many] years back worked up to 465 lbs for a couple of reps. helps to have short legs. I used to pull them inside the iso rack with 2- 10 lb plates under my feet.
