Not sure who this Jason Choi feller is, but he opened a nice gym.
Cool logo. Vegas is like the new Mecca. Flex Lewis, Psycho Lewis, Iris Kyle, Torture (many good gyms)...

Yeah, everybody seems to flee from the bum tents in Venice (except for Arnold and Ralf Moeller)

Is that Nick on the far left? Looking like a walrus? Wifi over here is weak so video keeps hanging. But the gym looks great. Hell two 5lb dumbells and an exercise band would be a better gym than anything you can find in the historic part of Paris.

LOL! My thoughts exactly! Love that scent...
I wonder if that video was staged, haha. It was just so perfect. Lucky guy either way. :)

I didn't watch the video, but this is how Nick looks in the thumbnail on my device...

Kid must have spent a fortune, getting all that equipment shipped from Korea???
Must be like Matt (Bitcoin genius)...
-
It gave me chest pains just looking at it.
It is pretty bad...
Do we know for certain that Nick is necessarily less healthy than the average top IFBB pro though?
Are we picking on him unfairly? Is it just due to him being so big while SO young that gives us reason to believe he is considerably more unhealthy?
Is it the varicose veins? Nick insists he has always had them, and they do not adversely affect him.
Could Nick be just of normal health for an IFBB pro?

My doctor said that about me.
But wasn't it obvious in 2013 that if Bitcoin dropped by 50% because of a drug website bust that it would recover fully within one month?
Invest $100,000, make $100,000 within a month?
No one thought that was obvious, between 2013 and 2017?

I didnt understand it or look into back then, which is a bit of a travesty... Missed out...
I do have a couple million (almost) in 401K (35 years in w/ company match) so Ill be OK (I hope) in retirement...

Let's be honest nick...and everyone blasts constantly never seem to even bring down the doses. He constantly huge n in shape. That's the gh..it can't be healthy

South Korea have the best engineer.
Newtec's Brand is the best Pro Gym equipment.
They opened on purpose to have visibility on US market.
-
Las Vegas has definitely taken over as the bodybuilding capital of the country. So many amazing gyms. Some of the gyms are a block or two away from each other. Venice Gold's use to be the mecca but I think it has been replaced.
That gym from a visual stand point looks amazing. Never used the equipment but if I ever make it back to Las Vegas I'm going to make it a point to get a vacation pass there.

It's a fisheye lens and he's standing at the very outer edge.
Standing at the center of the lens he looks perfectly fine ::)

What is this opinion based on? Is South Korea known for their engineering?
Has any equipment really evolved much since the Hammer Strength line?

Hammer Strength is probably the most overrated manufacturer of all time. Out of 50 or so machines, maybe 3 or 4 are decent, the rest is complete BS lol
-
Newtec has a better understanding of biomechanics than others, trajectory, adjustment for each type of segment length, resistance distribution, negative and stretch control.

I disagree.
I don’t think any of the selector equipment is very good, but what is better than their plate loaded equipment? What would you suggest is better than their chest, back and shoulder pieces?
Today there are better leg and leg press items.
We’ve all used a lot of different equipment idk if anything is “better” but a lot is worse.

Thanks for the response. Next time I’m in Vegas I’ll check this stuff out and report back.

I can't speak on their engineering for fitness equipment but I can tell you that overall their health/fitness/gym selections are the best I have ever seen in all my interanational travels. The average hotel gym is on par with a small size UFit or Planet Fitness. The hotel I stay in as a general fitness area with a ton of machines and then an upstairs level with tons of free weights, power cages, deadlift platforms, etc. and this is a hotel. You see healthy fit people all around. Gyms are very reasonable. $15-25 a month and super competitive. There are some nice extras to attract people into choosing them over others. Indoor golf driving range, cyro units, etc
By comparison:
Paris where I am, historic area - no gyms. Hotels - no gyms. Outer areas you can find ok chains. Keep Cool and Basic Fit being the most common. Note the actual "gym" part is called the "musculation" area. ::)
Japan - from last month. Overall a fit society due to dietary habits and walking every where. They have common gyms. Golds, 24 Hour Fitness, GOAT, the last two offer day passes for about $20-30 per day. Facilities are on the small side. Membership is expensive. $70-90 per month. This is because not many people go to gyms and rent is high for the small spaces. But the people who are gym members are serious. You won't find kids hanging out or instagrams being made in them.
Hotels rarely have gyms. If you do find one it is either a basic universal multi station machine or dumbells. And a couple of cardio pieces. But very very rarely treadmills. They have bikes and epilitcals. But very seldom treadmills because people walk every where.
Brazil - the biggest "gyms" are usually BJJ places with the equipment off to the sides. But you can find more serious gyms away from popular areas.
Bangkok / Chiang Mai - you have small serious gyms comparable to golds on one end, massive Moo Thai (ha) centers with some equipment on the opposite end of the spectrum. In the middle is medium size with about a 60/40 split for one the interests.
In short I would suspect Korea had better made engineering just based on the factors above and the types of crowds / gym members that they attract.

Good insight Lurk.
I’ve never been to South Korea and know almost zero about the culture but I was surprised to see the praise for the engineering and fitness equipment.

I would think because the overall number of gym enthusiasts and gym competitions in Korea they would be better at engineering that equipment than a place that wasn't that much vested or the people were interested in this pursuit.
Sort of like expecting a country with health and disease problems to suddenly become a top tier pharmaceutical developer.

I used to enjoy Iron Mike BonDurants little "Muscle Museum" newsletter.

Vegas has more gyms than strip clubs!
And it looks as though a few of those guys in the Torture video are or were members of Flex's Dragon's Lair which is less than 3 miles away.
Has anyone got the current monthly membership fee information for the top 8 gyms in Vegas some of which advertise at $10 per month or even free if you have some form of medical insurance.
I say "top 8" but there are a lot more smaller facilities that seem to be doing good business here in town.
One such gym offers gym members a front door key to open and close the place whenever you want to workout.
Another offers hi-tech gear that would seem to be more appropriate in a well equipped physical fitness hospital.
Add the local Cross Fit places and you'll likely count 20 or more so called gyms in Las Vegas.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Green Door even had a 'weight room'.

Best engineers in the world in modern times are middle eastern or specifically Iranian, construction wise, mechanical wise German or US still fly the flag. Gym equipment no one really cares lol, personally the South Korean stuff I dont like Hammer and Life fitness still outperform over the entire range imo.

I agree, their plate loaded stuff is great. Very thoughtful design, you can tell it was made with lots of lifter input. Not to say that it couldn’t be improved upon—I just can’t imagine how, frankly.

Right, but modern folks who live for the GRAM, need insane and tough names like that. To add more to their fakeness...
