Law and Order up till Jerry Orbach passed in 2004, was phenomenal. Branching off with that SVU, Criminal Intent with the fat autist detective from Full Metal Jacket made it a parody of itself. There's a few other offshoots, and even a UK one which I think is superior to the cheesy American ones but is still nothing on the original.....
