Ambassadors and consulate personnel get kicked out of Russia and China. TV stations now only play marathons of The Honeymooners and Happy Days. The news outlets do not inform people of what is really going on. Politicians start leaving Washington and seem nowhere to be found. All Hollywood a-listers, out of the blue, flock to New Zealand and post pictures of their barbecue get-together in Queenstown. You know something is going to happen. You know this is probably and end-of-civilization moment. And yet, no one seems to be telling the truth.
Will you know what to do? Do you have a plan? Will you be hunkering down and taking cover or getting on a plane and leaving as soon as you hear that Lynne M. Tracy has been kicked out?

Gotta have a piece of property somewhere. Figure at least 30 acres with a creek and a spring/spring fed pond. Out of the way but within 30 minutes of a good hospital. Have it be within a five hour drive of where you currently live.

I would have a bowl of my favorite iodine fortified cereal and then wait for the dust to settle.

Get a geiger counter, get iodine tablets.
Be prepared for an em pulse. It'll ruin virtually all of your electronics including your geiger counter provided it's not in a radiotion shield box.
Stock pile water in mass, it's both a great radiation shield and your only source of water for atleast a year. Baracade all your doors and windows. Make sure no dust is capable of entering your home from the outside, as it'll be radioative and will kill you. Try to build a shelter under your home deep down, preferably somewhere with no obvious entrance. If you've done this correctly leave your doors unlocked so people assume your home is abandoned.
Get a gun learn to kill, not just fire the gun but to actively pop out someone's skull.
If your geiger counter goes too high kill yourself and your family asap.
You don't want you or anyone you care about going through that level of suffering.
Wait 6 months to a year, and move to a place where all the fall out has been flushed away by rain.
Learn about economics and farming, after the vast majority of people have died you'll have a large volume of idiots thinking they're living in the thunderdome.
Reality is you'll need every laborer you can get to farm food sans electronic and heavy machinery.

We're fucked. I'm a mile and a half away from a Naval Weapons station/base and can see the Port of LA from my house. Rumor is they have some nukes on the Naval base but I don't think anyone really knows except those on the inside. Either way both the Weapons station and the port are targets.

EMP = No Electronics. Bitcoin will be the last of your worries. You'll want guns, ammo, an underground shelter with air filtration, generators with fuel to last a long time, maintenance supplies for equipment, food & water, precious metals, etc.

Bomb shelters were popular in the 1950's. There was plenty of plans available in stuff like Popular Mechanics and other sources. When I bought my house it was built on land where an old house was that they took down. An old man knocked on my door after living there about 6 months and he told me he knew the owner of the old house and that he built an underground bomb shelter. We went out in the back and there was nothing but woods. He couldn't find it and said it looked nothing like that 50 years ago. It was fairly hard to find when he built it but the woods were cut down then. His account intrigued me but looking around I thought he was just mistaken or a whack job.
My son in law bought a chain saw to cut some trees down in his back yard but he asked me if I wanted some trees cut down. The trees were making a mess of my pool and giving it too much shade. While I was at work he went nuts with his new toy. I was in shock how much he took down. I fenced in the pool but I owned the land that was woods past the fence maybe 100 feet. I was pissed how much he took down. Looked like a bomb hit the yard.
Rooming around looking at the destruction I stepped on something that I immediately knew wasn't the dirt floor. It was metal. It had a old thick pad lock on the metal door. Maybe it was three feet by four feet. Covered with dirt and growth. Called my son in law and he came with bolt cutters. The lock was so thick we couldn't cut it but he put two pipes on the handles for more leverage. Took a crow bar to loosen the hinges up so we could open it. The door was seriously heavy.
I could barely make out the stairs. The stairs went maybe 10 feet down. Water damage and soot from mud was apparent as well as a moldy smell. I went down while he stayed above ground. The wall that were brick were dirt stained with some growth but it wasn't that bad. It led to a room. Inside were canned goods from I guess was the 50's from the few cans I could make out. Most of the labels were gone. Found what looked like water containers that were long dry even though they were sealed. Noticed a hand crank. I think it was to provide oxygen. I later found a metal pipe in the woods that must have been how air was pumped in as needed. Old army type cots were down there with military green wool blankets. Found what I think is called a rocket radio or something like a crystal radio that didn't require a power source. A nice stash of .22 long rifle ammo but no firearms. Walking to the end there was another escape hatch. There was a wooden chair structure with a hole in it. I think it was a crude toilet. The hole went deep into the earth maybe seven feet. Might have been deeper when it was originally made. Also found books and magazines. It was fun looking through an old Sears catalog. Shocked most were readable. The place had a stench. I assume some water got in it through the years. There was a box of candles. A bunch of tools were also found. I wonder what he had down there originally and what was removed through the years?
Took me awhile but I tracked down what remaining family he had. They all claim they knew little about him but one offered he worked for the government doing an unknown job after serving in the military for many years. The guy was born 1906 from what I could find.
I kept it a secret from my neighbors and most of my family. If a nuclear attack happens I don't need the whole neighborhood trying to get in bomb shelter. It's really well preserved considering it's age. Could it take a direct hit even though many feet of dirt is over the sturdy structure? Of course not but if it hits many miles away it could definitely could help the situation. Today I would add gas mask filtration, iodine tabs, portable solar panels and other items. The ammo would be .22lr, 12 gauge, 9mm and .223's. A water filtration would be added too. The lights would be battery with very small solar panels that hopefully would blend in the woods. The entrance and escape doors would have to have dirt on them with seeds to camo them in the woods. I have my thoughts how do it after going down there.

I would watch 99% act like a bunch of spastics.
From what social media has shown me:
One random person that nobody knows in a country that 80% of Americans have NFI where it is geographically located will die from the nuke.
Americans then take to social media all posting how they almost died in a nuke dropped in the county next to them.
In the tail end it evolves into Americans saying the victim dropped the nuke on themselves as a false flag.
This ends with a national remembrance day for transexual lesbian gay men who were impacted by the nuclear fallout.

Very naive to think that in the event of a nuclear war, there will be no internet or no power. The word is a big place. We have many energy generating devices large and small, and connected devices and chips in cars, phones, computers, servers, appliances, satellites, all over the world, below earth - even in space. Gold will be in demand to, but gold is heavy, cannot be easily subdivided, and is very difficult to transport across boarders and new countries, easy to physically seize etc.
The most important thing in terms of preservation of life and safety, (other than in the immediate aftermath of a bombing which happens to be in lethal proximity), will be to be able to move to a safe location and have access to globally fungible assets.

My plan is to get on a plane with my family and to travel south for a two week vacation, which will turn into short term disability should something happen with Russia. Wife and I already have a plan... where/when to be when something goes down, when to have all the valuables in a bag, as well as clothes and when to purchase the tickets and the rest of the logistics. The area I live in will for sure get nuked because we have a nuclear plant nearby, as well as a small military base.
My opinion is that, if your plan is to leave, when the US ambassador to Russia or China gets expelled, it's time to go online and purchase tickets to fly south of the equator either that very same day or the day after. With a little bit of luck I'll be landing in Buenos Aires by the time NYC is turned into a giant sheet of glass.

Honestly, the fallout would make life inhabitable and a bunker would eventually run out of supplies....if you made it to a proper run. Miserable and slow death...either by freezing to death since the Nuclear Fallout will block the sun or radiation poisoning. Fuck that
I'd just pour a glass of scotch with a Cohiba and sit outside with a radio listening to Sinatra. Rather just burn the fuck up
-
I'm at that stage of existence, now: where I couldn't give a fuck if it did come. As long as I didn't survive and ended up with a slow radiation based death; I'd happily go. I don't remember before I was born - and I certainly won't remember when I'm gone. Back to the dust carbon atoms of the universe. We are one but we are all.

Of course, there will be power. It depends on the scale of a nuclear war. A few nukes won't pose an existential threat. Let's say 1000-2000 nukes are exchanged. That will destroy infrastructure. At that point, something like Bitcoin will be a complete luxury. I don't think you understand the impact an all-out nuclear war will have. People will be scrambling to find water, food, shelter, heat, etc. Plus will have to deal with radiation. Crops will die. It will be a major clusterfuck. Nobody will want to know how much Bitcoin you have - lmao! You'd better place your computers in a Faraday Cage. Russia / USA will detonate EMP devices before nuking each other. The EMP blasts will destroy electronics over vast areas - unless they are protected. Cars won't run - unless they are older types that don't have computers in them.
So sure, Bitcoin might live on - might. But I doubt it. Who's going to keep mining after a nuclear war?! Who's gonna trade / buy? Get real!

Don't assume that nuclear war will involve 2000 nukes. It could, but it also could be a smaller number and localized to specific countries and regions, causing absolute havoc from which we can, (and form which some people will) escape from.
If so, the ability to move (both one's person physically, and one's wealth) will be crucial. If you are somewhere where you are physically safe, you also want access to wealth. Banking system is likely to be severely disrupted. And there are only so many carrots / chickens etc we can barter with (if we even have access to them in the first place). Humans have always used mediums of exchange. Gold has its limitations (but also its uses). Bitcoin is globally accepted, globally transferrable, and infinitely divisible, and not controlled by any military regime. Whether more energy or less energy, the mining algorithm adjusts to supply and demand, meaning that there will always be a point at which some parties are incentized to mine. Bitcoin and Gold are of course not the only things you want to be holding in a time of crisis. We also might want knives, guns, long storage food, gas cookers, medical kits, matches, torches, blankets, etc. But Bitcoin, Gold, multiple passports, and cash in a range of currencies in small denominations, are right up there on the list in my "survival kit" (along with a network of good reliable true friends and communities arond the world).
