Former President Donald Trump’s counsel, Christopher Kise, suggested in court Friday that the legal team may consider pursuing a mistrial in the civil suit brought by the state of New York in light of a report from Breitbart News.
At the center of the argument is Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle’s report that New York County Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron’s top clerk, Allison Greenfield, “appears to have violated judicial rules preventing officers of the court from making excessive political donations.”
There’s a news story out [today]…about particular political contributions made by your court staff…it raises questions of impartiality,” Kise said, according to Law360’s Stewart Bishop.
He added the “defense will have to give serious consideration to seeking a mistrial.”
According to Pix11 reporter Henry Rosoff, Engoron — who placed a gag order on Trump regarding Greenfield and has fined him twice for gag order violations — became frustrated. “…I’ll let everyone in the room think what they will about Breitbart,” he added.
There were “audible scoffs in the courtroom” when it was revealed the defense was referencing a Breitbart News report, according to Politico legal reporter Erica Orden.
As Boyle reported, it seems Engoron was advised of the violations laid out in a complaint filed to his court from a third party:
…it appears Engoron was advised of Greenfield’s violations in a 72-page complaint addressed to his court via email that was also filed with the New York State Bar Association the same day he decided to issue a gag order against former President Donald Trump in his case currently playing out in Engoron’s Manhattan courtroom.
Engoron said Friday, “It’s not information, it’s an allegation!” according to Rosoff.
“This idea someone has notified me, absolutely untrue, absolutely untrue,” he added.
Boyle pointed out that “in 2022 alone, Greenfield gave thousands of dollars” in political donations that apparently exceeded a $500 threshold for court officials in aggregate donations for a calendar year:
The donations, which can be found in New York’s elections database, total several thousand dollars. She gave $200 to the Four Freedoms Democratic Club in New York on May 2, 2022. She gave $175 to the Chelsea Reform Democratic Club in New York on April 5, 2022—and gave that group another $210 on July 25, 2022. She gave $350 to the West Side Democrats, Inc. in New York on June 15, 2022. She gave $50 more to New Yorkers For Alex Bores on Sept. 8, 2022. On Oct. 26, 2022, she gave another $50 to the Four Freedoms Democratic Club. On Sept. 12, 2022, Greenfield gave $100 to the Grand Street Democrats. On Dec. 2, 2022, Greenfield gave another $100 to Hell’s Kitchen Democrats. On Nov. 10, 2022, and on Nov. 21, 2022, Greenfield gave $250 each time to Downtown Independent Democrats. On Sept. 6, 2022, she gave $250 to Village Independent Democrats. On Dec. 27, 2022, Greenfield gave $500 to the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club. She gave that group another $500 spread over two $250 donations back on June 1, 2022, as well. On March 3, 2022, she gave $50 to Sivin for New York. On March 10, 2022, Greenfield gave another $100 to Sivin for New York. On May 15, 2022, she gave another $125 to Sivin for New York. She gave $25 to the New York County Democratic Committee on Feb. 13, 2022. She gave the New York County Democratic Committee another $50 on July 17, 2022.
Trump allies slammed Engoron and Greenfield after the report came to light.
It’s a disgrace. And many members of the family are under a gag order, so they can’t even defend themselves,” wrote Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).
What these corrupt Democrats are trying to do to the Trump family in New York is something straight out of a 3rd world banana republic,” Republican Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno wrote in a post on X.
Republican Arizona Congressional candidate and former prosecutor Abe Hamadeh chimed in as well, writing, “Their bias is blatant and their derangement will destroy the rule of law.”

All this while Ivanka's attorney's requested another ridiculous delay in proceedings because momma had to take care of her kids on weekdays... really? How sad, one would have imagined Jerrod and Ivanka had among their servants staff (nannies) to feed, dress and drive them to their respective private education institutions. Wow! I am really pissed at the judge for asking her to testify.

None of dumb shit he posts phases me. I've learned to ignore him and all his posts. He is also a total fake and a liar... says things he doesn't mean. Like when he apologized for the dumb untrue, hateful stuff he posted about me only to go right back to doing it. The jerk is completely untrustworthy... much like his hero.

He has his moments. And his moods. But it’s really just a common habit of the MAGA morons to jump straight into the gay/pedo talk when they have nothing else of substance to refute with. Because projecting really makes their point for them. ::)
As dumb as Qoach is - and that is DUMB - you have to give him some credit for not deliberately making himself look dumber with constant queer whinings. It’s like a universal signal among the red hats to showcase their inner fantasies when they can’t respond to simple facts and logic.

I agree that Coach does not appear to suffer from homophobia. So, there is that in his favor and I do give him credit for this.
BayGMB previously expressed interesting, insightful and I believe accurate observations as to why Getbig has more than its share of homophobes.

In prime’s world, requesting a delay is the equivalent of this:
Apparently, you and others, including Trump and his attorneys, take issue with Allison Greenfield, Principal Law Clerk who is a Democrat making political contributions to the party of her choice.
Principal Law Clerks are not barred from active participation in politics. Principal Law Clerks may be Republican, Democrat, Independent or unaffiliated politically. However, they do tend to be Democrats or somewhat left of center. Republican Judges are inclined to have Republican Law Clerks just as Democrat Judges tend to have Law Clerks who are Democrats.
Yes Judges, including Supreme Court Justices ideally would be neutral and rule non-partisan. But if this were true, why does whichever Party in power appoint justices from their party and who reflect their beliefs.
I don’t know what world you live in… most likely Trump’s world based on you Getbig posts, which is not the real world. Trump and his attorneys are grasping at straws, intentionally distracting judicial process, and influencing public opinions.
Unfortunately, some not very bright people are buying what they are selling.

I've routinely explained to you I am a more libertarian/centrist who is not a fan of either major political party.
I've been harping on a dishonest media and big tech content manipulation for over 5 years here, which is the majority of what I comment on.
If that feels "trumpian" to you, that's fine, and likely because the Democrats have gone completely off the rails since Trump was elected, so most of what I see that bothers me comes from that party. The classic liberal is gone - the person who hated large corporations, government overreach, and loved free speech. Now the party loves big pharma, loves government oversight, and loves censorhship.
But, you google an answer to the article, but completely ignore this part:
Boyle pointed out that “in 2022 alone, Greenfield gave thousands of dollars” in political donations that apparently exceeded a $500 threshold for court officials in aggregate donations for a calendar year
So, yes, there is going to be concern there. The inflation of assets court shit is a waste of time, and weaponizing our judicial system. Trump's loan were reviewed by the bank, they agreed to terms, and that's that. If they were serious about these charges, you'd see this charge being leveled daily against any real estate agent they felt overvalued an asset.

I ignored it because it is inaccurate and intentionally misleading.
The contribution limit for an individual donating to campaign committee is $3,300 per election; to a pack it is $5,000 a year; to a state or local party committee it is $10,000 a year; to a national party committee it is $41,300 a year; and to additional national party committee accounts it is $123,900 per account per year. https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/candidate-taking-receipts/contribution-limits/
I read all of 'PART 100. Judicial Conduct | NYCOURTS.GOV' There appears to be nothing in it relating to political contributions.
https://ww2.nycourts.gov/rules/chiefadmin/100.shtml
UPDATE: Law clerk Allison Greenfield did not violate ethics rules with her >$500 political campaign donations, legal experts told, citing exceptions that allow her to pay for tickets to events as she seeks her own Manhattan judgeship

Not gonna lie, I’ve filled out many PFS and they always ask about value of real estate and what you owe on it to get your net worth. I have a piece of commercial property that the city assessment is $700k and I listed it for $1.3 million in March and within 24 hours had three offers two over asking. My agent told me, after I took it off the market, “if your bank ever breaks your balls or jams you up, you’ve got leverage with this, show them this and use it to your advantage”. On my subsequent PFS for loans I’ve used that value on the property which increases my net worth substantially. I’ve never been asked for an appraisal or anything on any of the places I have. And the bank has never batted any eye on any of the valuations I give my properties. I’m not sure what type of oversight is out there, but like you said, the banks looked it over and gave him the loans. Only Trump haters see this as a standard prosecution and not the witch hunt it is.

.
I think it lessens the other charges against him when frivolous ones like this are enacted. Just like the Stormy Daniels accounting treatment. These people ran on a platform of convicting Trump, and they literally had to make up shit to do it. This one is worse because there's no jury.

He’s there on his own. He’s not required to even be in that courtroom but he is. This case was predetermined before it even began and he knows it. As for the Clerk, donating thousands to Dem causes and the Engoron knowing SHOULD be grounds for dismissal at the very least. Trump will lose in court but he’ll gain another 5-10pts in the polls…

Evidently that’s one of the reasons they said he’s had so many outbursts, that he’s trying to get the judge to meltdown and give him a reason to appeal. Either that or he just can’t control himself.

There are plenty of legit criticisms to levy against DJT.
This one isn't one of them, and is a politiial weaponization of the judicial system.
Just like the case with Alvin Bragg, I hope this eventually costs James her job, because it's not how our system is supposed to operate.

The great thing about the judicial system is that it doesn't matter if you or I agree with a particular outcome. It's the best system in the world and as a blue blooded American I am shocked you mock a system, the best in the world that an American should be proud of.

It’s not where the districts are 95% + Democrats like Manhattan, DC and Atlanta. Think Moscow trials

Why is there even a trial? There is no victim.
The American Taxpayer is.

It's not perfect for sure, but what are the alternatives? What's crazy to me is that its journey to truth and justice always comes into question when someone's beliefs contradict a verdict.

Comments about one specific trial aren't necessarily a critique of the overall system.
But, when someone runs a campaign on prosecuting Trump, gets him to trial with no jury, a judge and his team that are on the other side of the political aisle, with charges that have no victim, it needs to be questions.
Because it's true, if they do this to him, they can do it to whoever they want. That's why i asked about the possibility for appeal, because there has to be a check and balance here.
-
Ive read the article and i stand behind what i said and Trump is using his cronies to dig up dirt . Now people are threatening the law clerk's family members.
He is only going to make things worse for him
When Coach tells Folks to 'read the article' or that they didn't read it, what he really means is read into the article what he mistakenly did and not what it states. His is a disorder known as "cognitive illusion'.

I have issues with the draconian approach in this trial. Having no victim is not a factor for me as the charges are based on an existing law. Now maybe the law should be changed but the biggest issue is the penalties in that he loses his company and gets fined 250 million. I think they are not nearly any bit appropiate to the crime.
I don’t subscribe too much to the judge being on the left side because I believe the crime still has to be proven and each side gets their turn and that there is likely plenty of evidence saying he did commit fraud.

So you’re saying that the article didn’t state she made all of those donations or did you miss that part because you didn’t read it even though I copied and pasted it for you to read?

Did I say that the article you copied and pasted did not state she made 'all' those donations? When and where did I say this? I checked my posts and found nothing of the sort. Are you replying to Vince and got confused? Or, maybe you imagined it or made this up.

Socialism is the gateway to Communism. Marx was the father of Communism. Marxism. Not much of a difference
