People, casual boxing fans, tend to think a ten count is supposed to be 10 seconds. It's not. In fact it varies from ref to ref, but on average it's a bit longer than a "One One Thousand, two one thousand etc.. etc..
On average a ten count in boxing is around 14 or 15 seconds.
Don King tried to stir up controversy when Tyson lost to Buster Douglas saying Douglas got the benefit of a long count when Tyson dropped him.
Of course the famous long count that started it all was Dempsey Tunney II. Both were longer than 10 seconds and neither result was overturned.
