Title: Are steroids tax deductible if you are a professional bodybuilder?
Post by: Gargamel on March 08, 2024, 03:15:25 AM
Say if you win the Olympia, receive a 400k paycheck. If you took 100k steroids to win the title can you then lower your tax base to 300k?

If one identifies as a bodybuilder, hormone therapy and protein should be free, as well as gym fee's.

In theory, if you file Self-Employed with athlete as your occupation, they are a legitimate expense.

Maybe you can label them as "proteins" in your tax filing.

As this country races toward progressive liberalism I would expect having steroids will no longer be a felony in the near future. Right next to the legal pot store will be the legal steroid store. Muscular guys will line up to buy their syringes, vials and pills.

That’s for medical expenses. A pro bodybuilder needs steroids for his occupation. Of course, there’s the pesky legality issue.

If the steroids are doctor prescribed and you participate in an FSA with an employer from your real job, you can contribute up to $3,200 through payroll deductions during the 2024 plan year, thus reducing your taxable income.  You can then spend that $3,200 on a couple of steroid doses as an FSA eligible expense.

What doctor would prescribe steroids in the quantities needed for professional bodybuilding? You must have been Al Capone's tax accountant.

It doesn't matter.  Only up to $3,200 worth per year would be FSA eligible.  Not much, but it's something.   :D

most of the tool bros who can’t ask real men for advice

they goto a family physician for prescribed test

most of the over 35 regular gyms bros do this and WILL NEVER TELL ANYONE - almost like their gay porn habits but most regularly active gyms bros are on some form of TRT but since it’s dr prescribed “it’s needed medically and no one needs to know”

i’d imagine these dudes have insurance pay and prob write that off - oh also i’ve noticed A LOT of men on some form of disability use they hell out of PEDs as well - im sure they write off shit with all the handouts

The system is set up, so you can’t write off medical expenses unless it’s a huge deal and it’s uninsured.

If you have a receipt for them.  Good luck with that other than TRT.

But.....   food, travel expenses, clothing, fart powder / vitamins, gym memberships, massage/tissue work, haircuts, tanning costs, etc.. all are.   And if you have a home gym and work out at home every blue moon, you can claim it is "full time" and recup 1/3 of your home expenses (rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.) just like a business owner that works remote as well.  You can explain having a gym membership as making appearances and "networking".  My gf accountant's handles quite a few "influencers" that do this and if they are making content or working from home, it's legit.

That’s like saying a beauty queen can write off her makeup as an expense. Bodybuilding isn’t a career. It’s a hobby. A gay hobby. And I’m all-in. (Nh)

Of course, we’re talking about rare exceptions but they do exist. I’m guessing Heath, Jay, Ronnie et al had some large income years. Writing off gear would’ve lowered their tax bill.
