I have always been a big fan of joint locks mainly favouring the wrist locks but in Judo the elbow locks are very effective & quick to apply, standing or on the floor.
as i wrote before Mr Neil Adams (UK) was in my opinion a great exponent of Judo Kansetsu waza.

Regarding wrist locks, i remember in ī85 being tought the "transport lock".. ( 01:13) in the Army.
very painful. we called it something else but i canīt remember now ;D
Batons were used too as in escrima.
