Proteins powders/supps companies want you to consume their products as soon as possible ... and if is near or past their expiration date to discard and buy a fresh Jugg .... however, most research indicates if your protein powder is properly stored (no extreme temperatures or humidity), it should be safe to consume for up to two years.
True or false?
Thanks
WooooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHh

Absolutely true.
Store in a cool, dark place, not in your sauna.

Depends, I've used them (whey protein) a fair number of months past expiration with no ill effects, and no change in tastes etc.... That being said, Matt Wenning, a big powerlifter, blames expired milk/egg/casein protein for a hospital visit -
.
-
protein powers are shit, just eat food
-
A calorie is a calorie
Eat enough calories to gain only lean dry muscle tissue
More than that you'll just get fatter

I like Matt but I’m wondering if there was more to the hospital visit than consuming expired protein.

If you eat more calories than you need you will just get fatter
This isn't rocket science

He wipes with his hands and doesn't wash.

Suspicious indeed. Maybe some dated creatine also.

I always wondered how long whey could last but I have no answer. I guess it matters a lot if there is any moisture in it? Can powder be frozen to extend? Say vacuum sealed and then frozen? This is obviously just theoretical but as it happened I found 4lbs of Peptopro that was like 2 years expired, and used it to no ill effect. I was trying to smell it, if it had changed, but I had no fresh sample to compare to ;D
Edit: oh I also threw out about 30lbs of "weight gainer" due to expiring. Kinda shame, not that I need to gain weight but it would work as as a pre and post workout supp, it's all in the amount used.
I remember this character called "Animal" who used to sell whey isolate and he said it could last a VERY long time, like I interpreted it to be many years but don't recall exact phrasing. Animal was a smart but crazy guy, claimed Doggcrapp stole is business by going to his supplier directly and then started his own company. I think Animal forgot to scratch that out of some bag of whey. Anyway... just interested in how long a whey could last in room temperature when kept air and moisture free.

with all the chemicals and additives they put in it will probably survive a nuclear blast

Whey and specially Casein can last up to 2 years after expiration date and taste /work just fine …
I know a snake oil buddy that lurks on this board from time to time …
He changes all the expiration dates on supps that have expired long ago
And then does a “clearance/ Holliday “ sale. And sells the whole stack.
With no one single complaint whatsoever!!!!
You’d be surprised how many companies do it in this benevolent industry

I’m sure this was done before the prison sentence.

If McDonald’s did that Whey powder it would last 7-10 years and will be still fresh .
-
I used to work in retail at several times when I was younger.....most stuff lasts far longer than the expiration date......dry goods that is.
-
I've used expired protein, a couple of months out of date, and there is a noticeable difference in taste.

Hazbin once posted about the great gains he ever made were on expired protein powder, and he’s arguably the most jacked Getbigger of all time.
-
They aren't any good before the expiration date.

And I'm sure his gear had nothing to do with it
He's a good and cool guy though 😎

One of the best...but most people don't know that.

They are sealed and airtight. Store in a cool dry place. They will last almost forever. In 2021 after Biden stole the election and our country was heading into chaos with high prices and shortages etc. I bought a bunch of different kind of powders when I got deals. I am still using some today. Its like flour and sugar and other things that are sealed. Keep them sealed they last. But once you open them and air and moisture hit them THEN they will start to go bad.

No offense bro, but you’re not 1/100 the bodybuilder he was.
