Title: I got some promising good news.
Post by: wes on July 27, 2024, 07:12:06 AM
Cyberknife

What is the survival rate after a cyberknife?

Accuray reports that for low-risk patients the disease-free five-year survival rates are between 97% and 100%. For intermediate risk patients the rate is between 88% and 97%.

There`s a hospital in Syracuse about three hours from where I  am.

Up here in the sticks they either send you to  Burlington Vermont or Syracuse NY.

Yesterday I got a call from a woman who was just a doctors receptionist and she wanted me to go to  Burlington for a biopsy........I told her fuck that all the way there and back for them to tell me what I fucking already know ???

Of course I was polite and only said the word FUCK about 50 or so times......which is good considering it was me talking.   ;D

Anyway, they have this Cyberknife treatment in Syracuse which isn`t far from me.

Guess who's white ass is going to  Syracuse ASAP?

I told that woman to call me back on Monday as I was trying to stay busy and not dwell on it so  as not to  get depressed anymore than I already am.

PS - I was very polite to her.  ;)

Still saying some prayers and I asked my very Godly friend to send some up as well

He's a very good dude so I'm pretty sure He listens to my friend a bit more than he listens to me

Stay strong 💪 💪 💪

If you want to die, go to Syracuse. if you want to live go to Rochester .

Upstate med center in Syracuse treated my dad for prostrate cancer. They ended up overdosing him with radiation by a factor of 1000. He died a slow painful death from radiation poisoning 3 years. Fuck Syracuse

Will the cyberknife facility operate without a biopsy first?  Or do they do that also?

Was glad to see you post a positive message.  Made my day.....

No they`ll do nothing without a biopsy first just in case the tumor/growth doesn`t happen to be Cancerous.

I  had a biopsy when I had Lung Cancer.....didn`t even realize I had it done when I woke up.

I will bro, that`s the reason I asked everyone to kind of end the other thread.....not that I didn`t appreciate cuz I damn sure did and still do,I just didn`t want to fall into a depressed state and start to wallow in self pity.

You guys are all great people in my book.

Yesterday was the first time I ever heard of the Cyberknife.....my sister sent me a link to  it.

In actuality....this still hasn`t sunk in 100%....which is good for my mental state.

Will just add that I am grateful for all the kindness and well wishes from you guys......my extended getbig family.

I am not an oncologist. I think survival rates will depend on biopsy results (they will probably do specific tests on the tissue to see what type of cancer it is on a molecular level) and on its potential spread. If they did a cat scan maybe the report contains some useful information like if your lymph nodes look like they are enlarged or if there are any suspicious lesions in other organs nearby.

Again, I wish you all the best.

Jesus Christ bro.....that`s terrible.

The only reason I`d go to Syracuse is because they are the only ones that I know of,in the area anyway, that does the Cyberknife procedure.

Cyberknife is a brand name for a version of "Stereotactic Radiosurgery". I just looked it up - I never head of it before your posted it. In any case they do a version at Strong Memorial in Rochester. https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?contenttypeid=85&contentid=p08476 (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?contenttypeid=85&contentid=p08476)

Syracuse is a shit hole when it comes to medicine. A buddy of mine got esophageal cancer- he was advised by a doctor at Upstate in Syracuse to have a radical surgery with a less than 50% success rate. Instead he searched out other places and ended up at WD Anderson in Houston. It was a success.

I have too many stories to tell about failures at Syracuse Hospitals....

Go to UVA hospital my step father DR Burke is a physicist there or was 20 years ago. they will hit the cancer with laser from 500 different angles and where they meet in the middle will kill the cancer cells no massive surgery needed they use it for brain cancer surgery it is so accurate.

Of course it is probably not cancer so relax old people get tumors it’s perfectly normal may just be a cyst

Wes old buddy,I haven’t commented because I was hoping for good news but I don’t want you to think I haven’t been thinking about you. I remember 13 or 14 years ago I first came on some bodybuilding forums and I didn’t know anyone but there was this guy from Northern New York who seemed to know everyone and everyone knew him.Everyone liked you and you would give advice to anyone who asked .Even a shitstain like hanky would have been able to get help. You also had those ripped abs and I remember I wanted to be just like you.Well we became friends and turned out you and I had several similar experiences and knew some of the same people. You know we are all dying now it seems but let’s fight it off as long as we can.Hell it seems like I was 30 a few days ago and now I’m 65.Anyway I don’t want to make this too long but just know I am here for you and I love you and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

mops the guy I saw was a physicians assistant and at the end of the visit he shook my hand and said he was sorry to say that I had Cancer.....there`s no way he should have said that since a biopsy is needed to determine if it is or not.

Not saying he`s wrong about the diagnosis, but it was a statement he shouldn`t have made since there was no biopsy.

He came up with the math for the lasers you dumb fuck it's a complicated calculation. They work with brain Cancer patients.  They can kill tumors without invasive surgery. I would not have mentioned it if they couldn't help. He is now retired but it was his procedure they still do it go to UVA oncology they are the best in the country.

This is correct.

However, pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancers to have. Survival rates and QOL after diagnosis are very low.

Every oncology department has a chief physicist and team of physicists who work under him or her. The administration of oncology drugs is very dose dependent, etc. They don’t just give you 800 mg of Advil and hope for the best. Also, radiotherapy as BH mentioned.

An ignorant response like this isn’t very helpful.

Has the medical industry lost the service aspect of what they do?

BHANKS is not always wrong! 😉😉😀😀😀

Medical physicists work with doctors, nurses, technicians, and patients. They have three main components of work: clinical service and consultation, research and development, and teaching. A medical physicist might:

Plan radiation treatments for cancer patients
Study how radiation affects the body
Ensure equipment is safe, effective, and working properly
Develop new safety procedures
Consult with physician colleagues
Research new treatment options for cancer, heart disease, or mental illness
Teach and train future medical physicists, residents, and medical students

A friend's father went in with a really bad flu bordering on pneumonia this past winter and they found "a mass" in one of his lungs. They did a biopsy and it came back negative. The doctor was so sure it was cancer they did a second biopsy procedure which also came back negative. These doctors know about half fuck-all and just assume everything based on who reads the radiograph, so I would just get as many brains on it as you feel you need. I told my buddy to go to another hospital system and start from scratch when they said they were doing a second biopsy. Now they have switched and still no cancer diagnosis. That flu he had was very serious though and took a long while to get over it. He's mid 80s and still kicking.

I have to add “good news”. I have a close friend who has survived a deeply serious pancreatic cancer without recurrence. So a milder case, high hopes for you!

This. My brother has been helping my dad out through his knowledge and contacts as he works in a hospital. Really came through and so glad he went into that, right now. I feel pretty useless. There's a lot of good posts with advices here. Really nice to see people giving their knowledge. Wish I could contribute something solid like that but it's great to see.

Yup....shook my hand and said I`m sorry to inform you but you have Cancer.

No one can determine that until a biopsy is performed.....the jerk !

Did he make the assumption based on the previous lung cancer? Pretty bold move on his part.

All bullshit aside, the studies you quoted do have some very good promise to them.  Thank you for posting.  I think that route combined with a lower carb approach to diet is the way to go.  Cancer cells are obligate users of carbs.  Found this out when I was speaking with a cancer doc in Florida when my father was dealing with his cancer.

When you see the diet they give patients in the hospitals its like they are TRYING to kill them.

At first they wanted me to follow a bland diet which consisted of hardly any fats, beef and chicken broth, and fucking Jello.

Like I needed to lose more weight than I already have.

A co worker had cancer and did a water fast with bare minimum food for a month. Tons of vitamins and minerals. Starved it down . Never got sick from the chemo either.  Just ate the bare basics. Still stays very lean today.

That's quite interesting. So the cancer cells don't actually need minerals and vitamins and survive off energy from food like carbs? They literally starved it? I didn't even know cancer works like that. I just thought the cells did their thing and corrupted other cells somehow.

If I thought I had cancer, there'd be no way i wouldn't eat whatever the fuck i wanted, especially not limited to broth.

Wes, love you man but I get the sense that you may not be moving forward with steps like getting the biopsy because you don't want to hear what could be bad news, but you gotta realize that there's a lot that can be done with things and early info is best.

Trust me I didn`t eat that broth based diet....I lost a ton of weight as it is......it had practically zero calories

I HAVE to get a biopsy as that is the only way to determine if the growth is Malignant.

I don`t want to....but I have no choice in the matter if I want to move forward bro.

What is the reason they gave for wanting you to lose weight. I thought sturdier and stronger ones were more likely to survive the stress of chemo or whatever  ???

The medical doctor pathologist examining the tissue will be quick when it comes to cancer. The oncologist that gets the results from the pathologist that hand examines the tissue sample might be slow in notification of the patient. Sometimes you can sign into your chart to see the results just as fast as your doctor gets them.

There is nothing you can do about it so no need to stress about it. Just relax smoke a dubie and chill. It is more likely not cancer. But worrying about it will do you no good so relax. You have done all you can do good job getting it scheduled
