Well, not for the people who will lose their jobs obviously. But imagine you are an employer with 1,000 people on the workfloor of a factory.
You will dream of this:
(https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXeQu4iktiqW-YGLIzuCyQMTjPtEsgi1XyQiAgSVujyGpGDra9mO9WH5WSOUKQ0XZsSQ4YWYzAAPG454WmhFAuV-khORpCRlRa8mridKzkV9vR1t1T57Zeo_ucyd4KpaTXLOlfR5VQ?key=Qo74ztRjJc7biFQz7Lfjgg)
The advantages are off the scales. Humanoid robots
- don't come late
- never strike
- don't steal
- Don't do drugs or alcohol
- no need for bathrooms
- no need for a company canteen
. no HRM department
- no crazy DEI teams
- don't fight each other
- no more "me too" complaints and expensive lawsuits
- no unions
- don't need healthcare insurance
- don't need a pension
- need far less light to function, so less energy costs
- don't call in sick
- can work 24/7 (but do need to charge their batteries every hour or every three hours?)
Ideal for consumers, as it will drive prices and inflation down.
Now that AI is progressing immensely fast the combination of the two will cause massive changes in our societies.
And most will be built in China, they are the experienced experts in mass production for low prices
But still, very cool stuff! Or am I missing some downsides?

Amazon will be one of the biggest buyers / users of Humanoids on the planet:

If AI moves to AGI it's best not to include such robots too much. If they find out they will be replaced and recycled who knows what they get up to..
Will be interesting times if they are able to work together against their human overseers.

Overall what upside do robots offer the common man? Anything?

If there is enough competition prices can be lowered. Human employees usually are hugely expensive, so an army of humanoid robots can do it better and cheaper.
Lower prices = lower inflation, and perhaps lower interest rates.
I guess the robots will be built by other robots, but they have to be serviced, repaired, etc, so that will create some jobs
But overall millions of people will lose their jobs.

Western carmakers are fucked if they do not act soon:
Lots of overcapacity with carbuilders, too many new brands on the market. Some well known names will disappear.
Very cool development to have robots change their own battery packs!

They mop my apartment and wipe the windows right now.

In my country owning a paid apartment, garage and car is more than enough to live a relaxed life.

Do business owners not realise by replacing human workers with robots there wont be enough people with money to buy their products?

you must be living in shithole then to be adjusted to that
if you had any wisdom you would living in aprtment cant be compared to living in real " home ".
there is a reason apartment is called apartment , never a home .
you are too dumb to understand these delicate things of life so shut the fuck up and stop talking to me. you are poor , wana be average ( i think u live in south america ) guy
i am best in the world in what i do for usa people ( specific type of med export ) ...do u understand what it takes to be best in the world in ANYTHING ?
probably you cant since you are so average , apartment guy.

They don't have a choice. If competitors switch to humanoid robots and lower their cost & prices, they will get the orders.
But true, there will be lots of people with fewer money to spend. Unless they can find new jobs, which might be difficult

I see what you see. The blue collar job market is already saturated here, i cant imagine what will happen when engineers and sales reps customer ssrvice etc jobs vanish. We are fucked.

Universal Basic Income. 10% will be rich and the other 90% will barely live in squalor. Western countries will all be like Brazil.

Fucking bizarre

I thought of this option when I was younger. No way now.

AI already is causing many people to lose their jobs. CEOs etc try to avoid saying so:
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/20/in-job-losses-ais-role-may-be-bigger-than-companies-say.html
Add in humanoid robots and the totals will be high. AI will cause job loss the soonest, it develops superfast. Humanoid robots might take another three years perhaps?
