To be neuroqueer does not necessarily mean having a specific sexual orientation, but rather living and expressing oneself in ways that challenge both neurotypical and heteronormative expectations. Many people use the term to describe how their neurodivergence and their gender or sexuality are deeply connected in the way they experience and express themselves.
It can also mean consciously refusing to conform to neurotypical or heteronormative frameworks, and embracing an identity that acknowledges difference both in the way one’s mind works and in one’s sexual or gender identity.
