Title: Need recommendation for equipment
Post by: IroNat on September 08, 2025, 09:49:06 AM
Anybody recommend an adjustable situp board that isn't a piece of junk or made for midgets?

Need it for rehabbing.

Have you checked Amazon? Not sure if Walmart would have that. What are you rehabbing may I ask?

Yeah Amazon has literally everything.  Next day delivery and if you don't like it, they take it back no questions asked.

I found very little in the DIY world.

What are you rehabbing if you don't mind?

Could be an excuse to splurge a bit and grab the ironmaster adjustable bench.

I can't see a sit up board being of any use for rehab. If anything it would just exacerbate the injury.  IMHO

None of you are helping me.
And after all I have done for you.

We had a Bodysolid Proline that was great in High School, they still make them but they are godawful expensive $500-750.

We made ones like this one growing up out of wood. Pretty straight forward project, just big -

That is a good old fashioned design.
$800 for it is insane though.

I'm rehabbing an inguinal hernia.
Then I wouldn't do abs at all.

I wouldn´t do any (full) sit ups at all but crunches with your feet flat on the floor , not on a flat bench (90% bent knees) which tends to also activate the lower region of the rectus abdominis more..which is good but not in your case.

IroNat, I have a fully welded ab bench made by YORK.
It’s not adjustable. No tears in the vinyl. It’s a tank.

The angle can be adjusted by elevating one end, or the other.

What’s your address so it can be picked up? It will be returned once the injury is healed.

Just had laparoscopic surgery for a left side inguinal
Hernia - 4 weeks into recovery now. The only rehab is NO ab work whatsoever.

The inguinal canal is an abdominal weak point in the male anatomy - doubt there is any exercise that can fix a hernia once it forms. I had put this surgery off for about 10 years- in retrospect I wish I had done it sooner. In just a month of healing you can’t tell i even had surgery because the incisions (3) are so small. The surgeon told me that in 6 weeks healing would be complete and I tend to agree with him. Only an occasional twinge of pain now and I am back to lifting, although just moderate weights at the moment

I don't want the mesh fix.
Too many cases of complications from the mesh.
My hernia is a very mild.  Most times it is not visible.
I wear a hernia belt.
There is a doc north of me who does the meshless Shouldice procedure.
Unfortunately he doesn't accept my insurance.

Pushing out poopers on the toilet.
Either that or dancing at my son's wedding as it happened right after that.
I think it was the poopers though.

you shouldn´t need this if you have a decent diet of fiber, i eat a diet of mainly fish & vegetables, brown rice but a few other things like lean chicken.
salads are important for me such as broccoli, tomatoes..spinach..

I had the right side fixed with mesh 20 years ago. No problems whatsoever. My surgeon does both- says the mesh-less surgery is weak- he’ll do it but he says they always come back for the mesh, lol

One of his colleagues specializes in the mesh-less repair in Florida. My best friend had it last year- took close to 6 months to recover.
