Title: Canada 2025
Post by: SweetDaddySiki on October 20, 2025, 08:48:32 AM
To GetBiggers in Canada, how's it going these days? Wife and I did the Niagra Falls trip last week and stayed on the Canadian side (much nicer than the US side I must say). I liked Canada for the most part. Whenever I travel, I ask myself if this is someplace I'd live and I'd probably live in Canada. The people were nice and the "vibe" seemed ok. Drove around and went to St Catherines and stopped at a Chapters bookstore which was nice. Went to a region where they're growing wine vinyards and saw Wayne Gretsky's vinyard. Wanted to go to Toronto but didn't make it. Saw on TV where they're getting tougher on immigration and border control. Carney was a few blocks over from where we were staying Friday giving a speach about enhancing the border. The only downside is that it's expensive. Gas was like $6 US dollars a gallon (they charge by the liter there and I think 3 liters make a gallon). Food was more expensive of course. I was surprised how many US businesses there were and how busy they were. I thought Canadians had boycotted US companies but places like McDonalds were packed. And hats off to Walmart! Went to one of the best Walmart's ever. Clothes were nicer. Overall, a good experience. Not sure if it varies from region to region.

Niagara Falls (the city) on the U.S. side has been a dump for many decades.  Many.

Some people used to think Canada was cheaper years ago because the U.S. dollar was worth more than the Canadian dollar (which it still is) with the exchange rate.

However, it always seemed more expensive to me in Canada.  Prices were just higher.

Gas in Canada used to be sold in Imperial gallons which was different than U.S.  The Imperial gallon was smaller.

Now they sell it in liters.

A U.S. gallon is 3.79 liters.

Gas Buddy says a liter of gas in Niagara Falls, Ontario is around 114 to 125 cents.
Not sure if that's Canadian or U.S. money.

Anyway, if it's in U.S. that is $1.20 a liter x 3.79 = $4.54 U.S. a gallon regular.

If it's Canadian dollars that's U.S. $.8562 per liter x 3.79 = $3.24 U.S. a gallon regular.

The U.S. dollar to Canadian fluctuates.

I think I did that right.  :-\

Montreal is supposed to be Liberal Capital of the World next to Portland, Oregon.

If you are a Leftie Canada is fine.

English guy found a lamp, rubbed it and a genie came out and gave him three wishes
First wish was get rid of all blacks in UK
2nd wish was get rid of all asians

Genie said "your two wishes have been granted"
Guy says, "so the UK is now free of all blacks and Asians?"

Genie says "yes, now what would you like for your third wish?"
English guy says "I will just have a cup of tea thanks"
