Bowflex says they have officially put an end to Nautilus branded products last year. Is it weird that I want to collect Nautilus machines? Been looking at second-hand sites for used gym equipment. Things are pretty expensive though
-
Is the cam resistance not as effective as claimed by Arthur Jones?
-
Sure,I`ll rush right out and collect the entire original line.....I`m sure the price tag is nominal.
::)

Apparently Nautilus stopped making professional gym equipment many years ago:
https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/BowFlex,_Inc.
History
Nautilus, Inc. originated in 1986 with the sale of most of the company by the inventor of Nautilus machines, Arthur Jones.[11] Jones created the Nautilus machine, then called the Blue Monster, in the late 1960s, with the purpose of developing a fitness machine that accommodates human movement.[11] The company's name was changed to Nautilus because the logarithmic-spiral cam, which made the machine a success, resembled a nautilus.[11]
BowFlex acquired Nautilus, Inc. and specialized in designing, developing and marketing strength and cardio fitness products.[6][dead link] In 1998, the company changed its name to Direct Focus and acquired the Nautilus, Schwinn and StairMaster brands between 1999 and 2002, before eventually changing its name to Nautilus, Inc. in 2005.[6][dead link] Nautilus became a publicly traded company on the U.S. stock exchange in May 1999.[12]
The company stopped selling exercise equipment to gyms in 2011 and shifted its focus to home-use equipment. The same year, Nautilus. licensed its brand name and technology to other manufacturers.[6][dead link]

I love their seated trap machine.

One brand I've seen hyped by certain bodybuilders is Prime. Anyone used them?

I think they hated each other. Didn't Arthur sue his own son for stealing his designs?

One of the gyms I train at has a full set of all the old Nautilus equipment. I can't say that its more effective for building muscle, i.e. the cam, but the construction of the machines is top quality.
The problem with the old/or first versions was adjusting the height, the seat and the arm length of the machine. The triceps machine is really unwieldy and kind of difficult to use without a partner. The pec deck would be great but its built for some one well over 6 feet tall with a longer arm span than me, the same with all the equipment, it was all high quality construction but very limited in adjusting the arms or the seat for height.
-
its still amazing that jones and co never attempted to build basiles supinator machine. a potential game hcanger left to go fallow- solving a problem nobody really gave a fuck about
-
It’s weird but now in my thirties and the closer I get to 40 I realized that using Basile’s supinator machine has to be added to every getbiggers bucket list. @vince wtf is the machine atm? Can I come live in Australia and use it for like 3 months to see if I can grow my arms some before too much more time passes?
-
vincde grew 1/10 of an inch every workout drug free using it
I am going to do 100 workouts on it regardless of how long it takes
I will definitely gain 10 inches on my arms. vince guarantees it. his word is his bond.

Jones used a gorilla to test the machine so it's understandable that you may not fit perfectly.

Haha lol.
I remember in Ellington Dardens HIT book he spent so much time sucking off Jones it wasn't funny. Darden referenced the gorilla several times. One time he was making comparisons to how strong a gorilla is because its activity mirrors HIT training. Short but infrequent bursts of activity. Also says something about wrist measurements being an indicator of strength potential then says Art Jones owned a gorilla with 10 inch wrists. As if because Jones owned it, it had huge wrists. I bet mean wrist measurement of a gorilla is the same 99% of the time. Like , hey, Ellington, gorillas also eat grass all day long, should we be doing that too? LOL.
He claimed Arnold didn't know how to say his own name until Art taught him or some bullshit like that so he told Arnold just to use 'Strong' as a last name and thats why Arnold was billed as Arnold Strong in Hercules in NY.
The list of bullshit in that book went on and on and on.
In all seriousness, its great equipment but if you're too tall or not tall enough, its difficult to get used to.

I don't remember if that was before or after arthur disowned him.

i recall doing 'massive muscles in 10 weeks' by ellington darden
I was about 15 and armed with cybergenics infinity 1700 and the workouts I set about it
absolute disaster and lots of supersets which made me as popular as bitch tits in the busy gym I was training at.

Cybergenics was the craziest volume, guaranteed overtraining routine ever. IIRC wasn't that the system that used Franco Santorello in its ads? It came with a equally ridiculous diet plan and a line of supplements and workout charts? Anyone who used that system was totally burnt out in less than a month? Or was that a different sham?
-
cybergenics was indeed a 60 day programme of bullshit
used to have before and after pics with
'greg gained 4 inches on his arms 3 on legs 6 on chest in 8 weeks
i bought into it- it cost 85.33 for the full 60 days
i got injured and ill off it
a mate of mine did it but supplemented with pronabol 5 dbol- he grew like a weed!

Santoriello was natural too because he had found Christ. There was one ingredient that might have done something, ephedra/ma huang. Probably just pixie dusted because as I didn't notice anything.
-
Cybergenics was before my time basically but Someone once posted a scan of the original Cybergenics workout plan. I remember looking at it and realizing it was nothing but a complete CNS burnout method. It was wild. I remember the quad workout being something like :
Start off with drop set squats and each set with your heaviest weight you can do for 10 reps, 5 assisted reps, 5 negatives. Immediately reduce the weight by 50% and with no rest immediately do another 10 reps, 5 assisted reps, 5 negatives. This drop set counted as 1 set.
You had multiple sets like the above to complete.
What I remember thinking is you could squat a decent weight how the hell you going to find someone to spot you when they got to haul you up when you are doing negatives. I bet everyone in the gym would avoid you after you roped in some unsuspecting person the very first time.

A friend of mine in college bought it and we trained together. He took the supps and I just did the training program. It almost killed us both.

I used to have a knock-off cam pullover in my gym - not sure it ever really made me grow that much, but I always felt the stretch was doing me some good. I'd probably rupture my shoulders if I tried to use one nowadays...

Wonder if we could talk him into designing a 'c0ckinator' - for my friend...

He certainly found smack later on - and heroin is pretty natural...
All smack-talk aside, this remains one of (IMHO) the top 50 muscle shots of all time...

It would be fun to watch them arguing over what causes hypertrophy.

One gym I trained at had the old nautilus pullover machine (chains instead of bands…you’d load standard hole size plates on it). I really wanted to love it and spammed the shit out of that machine (Dorian stanning). It just never worked for me, alas. Not for lack of trying. Best I got was sore rhomboids and teres major area.
I would have liked to try the behind the neck torso machine. That looked gnarly!

That's right, it's just striking that every generation falls for the same old memes. In the gym I see the young lads going to war with the free weights, avoiding machines because weider principles
