Oftentimes as they age (starting in the early 60s, but it varies) and the years take their toll and the end seems not so far away as it used to, previously strong men seem to go soft and turn into pussies. Maybe they've achieved a comfortable life and feel guilty, maybe they are trying to make up for previous bad behavior, maybe they've lost touch with strong peers, but whatever the reason, it's sad to see. (I don't think it's test related, as those levels begin the decline earlier. I'm fascinated by this phenomenon and when it happens (I'd say at least 50% after 65) and why.
Glad so many here have not succumbed to this syndrome. Lots of tough old bastards here.

My body held up pretty well up to age 55. By the time 60 hit my body has been in a faster decline for the last two years.

Do you still work out?
Yes! I even train people, both personal training and as a group trainer.
I train regularly (when im not injured, i injured both my shoulders few years ago and was out of commission for almost a year, and another time i injured my elbow and another time my back and was out for 6-7 months) just so i will able to be in decent shape (AND HEALTHY!) in my twilight years. I never smoke or use snus.

Big difference these days compared to when i was in my 30s or even 40s.
Back then you felt invulnerable and rarely got injured, and when you did, you recuperated very quickly.
These days you have to be VERY careful and cautious.

Yeah, I think a lot of these types, who dominated others in the real world for years, have a harsh reality check at 60 or so. They realize they're mortal, can't be on top forever. Whether its a health problem, heart or cardiovascular scare, or just losing touch as younger , hungrier types coming up behind you, making you less relevant... like the Lion who ages out and is no longer the head of the pride, once they're taken out, the pride has no use for them and the decline os fast. I think the weeping is their way of saying 'I shit on a lot of people, thought it was worth it, but we all end up in the same way: buried in the ground.
Then they realize, the weeping isn't going to help them either.
I overheard a group of 20 somethings, guys and girls, complaining about/making fun of all the 'older people' ruining the vibe at a night club. I just happened to be walking by and heard their conversation. It was funny, the look of disgust on their face as they talked about the creepy old men and washed up old whores. I stopped and looked at them and said 'What? You think it won't be you someday? You think you'll be young forever? Ha!' And kept walking. I swear I could see life flash before their eyes. Its like when you're young, you can't imagine yourself being old, then when it happens, you get weepy old man syndrome.

I'm coming up on 64 and I've never heard this. Personally speaking, the older I get less emotions I have because I've seen and been through enough to keep them at bay and grow somewhat numb to it. It's not that I don't have empathy it's that I have less of it. I'm not sure where this "weepy old man syndrome" comes from. Now, when it comes to family that's another story. Right now both my father-in-law and my wife's aunt are just days away from dying and we're all very close. Watching my father-in-law is like reliving my own father's death with the exception my dad was in a coma and never had the chance to say goodby.
M wife has been in Kentucky for two weeks. I was there last week and going back in a few days then it's off to Guam
