Title: What's Your Go To Hotel?
Post by: Palumboism on March 17, 2026, 03:57:12 PM
When traveling on your own dime, what hotel do you usually stay at?

The top three for me are Best Western, La Quinta, and Comfort Inns.  I'm a member for two of them.

Reasonable prices, modern comfortable rooms, and a complimentary breakfast.

I've stayed in some crappy hotels/motels.

Today's big chain franchise hotels are good when new but after a few years they stop maintaining them and milk them.

Then they are sold to someone named Patel.

Not all of course.  Courtyard by Marriot are consistently good.

Hotels have gotten quite expensive.

Any Marriott property. The points convert to United or American Airlines. I checked and I have over 1000 nights at Marriott. This is not something to be proud of. It bought some flights for the family. It also meant being away from home for over three years. Not exactly a high water mark for a man. Probably something I’ll die regretting. Oh well…

Anywhere I go in the US it’s a Courtyard by Marriott. I’m booked in Houston for 4 days

1000 nights holy shit, I had like 30 nights a while back and thought that was a lot.
