Congratulations.
I remember that. He looks much better when he's not super-ripped, though.
-
Great guy!!

Guest posing in 1994 (in my view, natties should be in this condition so they actually look big and not like crackheads):
1992 Natural Mr. Universe (another guy in this show got his IFBB pro card much sooner; can you guess who? ;D )

Congrats Natural O. Aside from being a great bodybuilder he has chronicled bodybuilding history by interviewing every living legend from the 60s through the 00's.
Seems like a good dude, super knowledgeable and a dedicated bodybuilder through and through.
-
Congrats! He does a lot for Florida’s bodybuilding scene.
-
https://www.instagram.com/p/DWHskb_Ej4E/ He's also a prolific author. he just put out 2 bodybuilding history books.

Is he going to compete again?
-
That’s an impressive level of musculature for a natural! :o

Seems like a cool guy but about as natural as fucking a man in The ass.

He was never super lean or even really that big.
Also TRT + HGH + T3/T4 can be considered "natural." It's just anti-aging, bro.
-
Back when we posted on ironage.us,John used to send me X-Mas cards a few years in a row.....a really nice gesture IMO.
-
Is he going to compete again?
In the video I posted from the 2025 Masters Nationals, he said he would take a year off before competing in some Masters pro shows.
With regards to my question earlier, the guy he beat at the '92 Natural Universe was future 2003 NPC LHW national champion (and IFBB pro), Kris Dim (look for him during the overall posedown).

Kris dim before his triceps really grew haha.

Basically what I was getting at :D

He reportedly competed at just ~200 pounds. At, what, 8% bodyfat?
He looked good, excellent arm and torso genetics/muscle insertions, but he seriously wasn't very big or very lean.

pffft....can't hold a candle to Jean Paul Guillaume and Mike Ashley.

I think he was pretty damn big & lean, although I suppose that it is relative. Compared to IFBB pros? I guess not.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one :)

You forgot Gustavo Badell! (PIP)
-
Now he can make some real money as a pro.

Please explain how Mike O'Hearn (and John Hansen) lost the 1995 ABA Natural Universe to this smaller guy:

I'm sure it was merely a ploy to get into your slacks.

From what he has stated, Hansen competed in the low 200s (205 or so). But, when he did his guest posing (around 215), he looks way better.
Here he is winning the Natural America's Cup in 2004.

My god that video was hard to watch, cringey haha

2nd guy is narrower than Phil Heath.

What was cringy about it? I'd say it's just sad that this contest was held in a blasted conference room. This is supposed to be a world championship, the allegedly best non-steroid using bodybuilder on the planet.
How many people are there who aren't friends nor relatives of the competitors?
I'd argue that one of the reasons shows like these lag in popularity is decisions like letting this super-short guy beat guys like Hansen or O'Hearn. And he only gets $1000, I think (based on that's what Hanson got for winning this show the following year in 1996).
