66 years old. No joint problems. Dude really is an advocate of smart training. When I trained at his gym, he was always willing to talk to people and share insights. Probably the best ambassador the sport could ever have.

But needs a new kidney though

I always heard he never went heavier than 75lbs on dumbbell rows. After reading that I never have either.

He said that he never went over 315lbs on squats either. He could, but he just didn't. Extra reps were better than extra weight. Mind you his training days were way behind him when I was there. He had been retired for a long time at this point. So I never really saw him doing a hard workout. But he also said that when squatting he would wrap his knees at 225lbs and then a little tighter at 315lbs. But he wrapped them tight like you see people usually doing. Mummifying them so tight they can't even bend their leg on it's own. He said the knee sleeves around at the time left a lot to be desired and often left raw spots on his knees.

To be fair, the city of Atlanta gave him the space at City Hall for his gym free of charge until it was closed. And the equipment in there was all given to him by the manufacturer. So not really much of any major overhead costs and operating expenses. Utilities, insurance, payroll etc. which were small.

I could be wrong
But I beleive some others members on here posted Lee bought a shopping complex back in the 80s
And sold it for a good profit. Lee retired at 32 fairly young bye today’s standards

I am not sure of that. But that was also before the time I spent at his place and around him. McWay would know. He knows all the BBing trivia and such. I do know that the original Animal Kingdom the building with the stripes on the outside was at another location before he was given the space at City Hall. I don't know if he owned that spot or not but it was the location where Curly Top got arrested for robbing the convenience store a block away and walking directly to the gym to workout afterwards where the cops found him. Wasn't hard as he was wearing a tank top, Crazee Wear pants and those damn sunglasses he never took off. (He said it was a misunderstanding with the guy that worked there).

I heard the same about Tony Pearson but I think he said 80. Makes sense. Weight doesn’t matter really with good genetics, right amount of anabolics, response etc… and these guys have those in spades.

Exactly, you are stretching and expanding fibres not creating new ones.
