Lou Ferrigno's journey to win the Masters Mr. Olympia after a 19 year retirement. Arnold of course is interviewed...and he discusses the folks who enter the Mr. Olympia who don't belong there on stage. He recommended there should have been "The Losers Contest" for them.
-
Standing on fake calves. It was a travesty that they let him compete at all.
Before the 92 Olympia Ferrigno was looking insane though, I can imagine he looked unreal in the gym.

Chris Aceto said that he saw Lou at the gym roughly
8 weeks out in 1992. Aceto said that if Lou had stepped onstage looking like that.... he would’ve won the show. Chris Aceto said that the combination of Lou’s size and Lou’s height was something that he had never seen before, in-person.

Do you think Arnold hated Lou all along and got a sick pleasure out of him losing and getting frustrated about not winning? And could have been calling the shots behind the scenes to ensure he never won to ensure he always had entertainment?

Yeah. I watched some videos about Arnold’s warped psychology. Very disturbing.
Franco was Arnold’s friend, but Franco was not like Arnold. Franco didn’t enjoy seeing people lose. Nor would Franco seek to sabotage someone. I once read that Franco’s wife didn’t like Arnold. Arnold said it himself; he had no problem giving Franco bad advice. In front of the world, Arnold said that Franco was a child.

Bodybuilding could have been elevated if Arnold actually said NICE THINGS about people.
What good did it do to insult Vince Gironda’s gym on camera?
-
Vince’s is for sissies, so I make sure that I go there at least twice a day

There was no mention of Wag Bennett or Paul Graham in Pumping Iron. If that information had been included in the film, people would’ve been repulsed. Especially after Arnold said that getting a “pump” at the gym was similar to “cumming”
I would not be surprised is Arnold tried to be “taken in” by Vince Gironda. Vince was not a schmoe. So Arnold settled for Paul Graham.
Arnold met Paul Graham at Vince’s Gym.

Sheet metal fabrication is actually quite interesting.

It was a historic documentary.
And Lou was actually the star of the movie. Lou had the awesome training footage. His father had the best quotes. Without the Ferrigno’s, the highlight of the documentary would’ve been Mike Katz’s missing t-shirt and Franco picking up the car.
Arnold’s best moments were when he was helping the short blonde guy with his posing. Also when Arnold was encouraging Ed Corney during his set of squats, and then sitting & laughing with Lou at the very end of the film.

Reality TV from the Seventies, but also a great time document about a very small subculture. Butler was in the right place at the right time
-
The subject and event was real, just certain scenarios and quotes were made up for dramatic effect, everyone knows arnold did attend his dad's funeral and Waller was told to hide katz's tshirt.
-
-
-
You can tell that Arnold body wasn’t ideal for squatting. Those were all half reps. Lou Ferrigno probably had to do half reps too.
-
Stand Tall. Hear Nothing.

Stand Tall. Hear Nothing.
But always give 110%

Did lou do any of the voice over work for his sections or was it just Matty, speaking for him I don't recall lou... arnold narrated in his sections, katz too.

Franco was worse than Arnold ,
During the filming of Stay Hungry they invited lots of bodybuilders as extra and dear friend from the East coast traveled and trained for over a month with all the top guys , Franco acted as if he was as famous as Arnold completely full of shit ...
He was in location in most of Arnolds 80's movie (Conan) and since he wasn't really needed there most people (bb fans would have access to him)
a total douche ..
Isn't it weird he was NEVER friends with Zane, Boyer, Waller, Robinson Katz etc you hardly ever heard anyone saying something nice about our Sardinian champ ...
Same after the 81 Olympia, back in Cali, he was treating most fellows bbers like shit like he was above everyone specially Padilla Platz (the younger ones) ...
At the later years, at the Olympia He would go backstage during the Lee Haney years thinking he was more important than Lee, lol trying to steal the spotlight rather than helping the sport or giving back
He was lucky he died right before the metoo" movement as well
He has more Salvadorians, Guatemalans and Mexican maids under his belt than Arnold and took advantage to put it mildly
He was as money hungry as Louie he just didn't have enough fans to be exposed
WooSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I remember back when Lou Ferrigno was in the " Celeb Apprentice", he proudly said "I have both hips replaced." ..
Trump looked at him and said " that's why I don't bodybuild" .... Louie twitched twice and left the room.
WoooSSHHHHHHHH BEYEKE

Ferrigno did this movie because according to himself, he left Pumping Iron unfinished", A Documentary about Arnold and Louie fighting for the Olympia tittle and at the very last minutes Serge Nubret makes an "unexpected entry" and beat Louie!! that was so painful to him it took him 19 years to recover.......
So, finally he decided to make Stand Tall ' a documentary about Louie and Boyer Coe fighting for the first Master Olympia ever, and.....at the very last minutes Robbie Robinson makes an unexpected entry and beat Louie .... this time was more embarrassing because both the check and the trophy had Ferrigno's name already on them....so Robbie the thief couldn't cash it for some time
More to come .
WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHH Confession II

That’s really crappy. I feel bad for Lou. And I’m not surprised to hear about Robbie the thief. What a scumbag.

Yeah I noticed that. Interesting how the camera didn’t show him from the hips down during his “squats”.

Lou looked amazing, he should've won, Robby only had better arms, and maybe a better v taper, that's it, Lou had a much better chest and traps and overall mass

Don't feel bad for Lou. Guy is an asshole.

Early in the movie when Katz was guest posing.....the camera pans by me quickly twice.....it was an Oscar winning performance!! LOL ;D

Without Arnold "Bodybuilding" would all be also ran guys like Franco and Robby and Ferrigno and Mentzer. and Zane and Zucollotto and Coe. Arnold was the Jesus of Bodybuilding.

This was in 1994, over 30 years ago when Lou was 44 years old. I think of "Masters" as old dudes, but they were still Fucking babies, spring chickens then.
We were all so naive compared to today's world with the likes of such gassed 7 ways to sunday competitors as Hanky.

They're "babies" by todays standards, but 30 years ago a 40 year old bodybuilder was considered a dinosaur to be anywhere a competitive stage.

Arnold was the Jesus of Bodybuilding.
Arnold was the Lucifer of bodybuilding. Jesus told people to be like sheep and like children (like Franco?) but Arnold was a predatory wolf :D
Seriously though, regarding aging... (it sucks)

Wrong. Jesus changed the paradigm to something good and different. So did Arnold. Arnold made having big muscles and working out something mainstream not some schmoey backwater activity.

I'm hoping the childhood scenes are filled with the neighborhood kids bullying Lou and calling him a retard ad nauseum.

I remember many years ago at a ComiCon, Louie had one of the biggest lines with his table and gigantic Hulk poster behind him charging $$$$ like a mean mofo ..
Someone pointed at Lou saying with admiration "Look that's the incredible Hulk!"
And someone else replied "He's starting to look credible" ;D

Haha, that's the stretch. He has wealth and fame but still needs to cling to being big!

I was mostly kidding, though Arnold was a wolf if you want to make that sort of analogy LOL. Like many feel Arnold has some psychopathic/sociopathic traits and a do whatever it takes to succeed attitude even if "morally" questionable sometimes. I feel mostly positively about Arnold, his life has been really remarkable. He has donkeys and pigs as pets, kinda endearing LOL.

Yeah, weird for a 70 year old man bragging about being big. Probably sends dick pics to old ladies.
