Does a pre-nup actually protect your assets? Or how much protection can it give?

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift must have a pre-nup.

It would be interesting to read it.

Could often be challenged after divorce?

For example:

"One of the core underlying philosophies of prenuptial agreements is that they should be fair and just for both spouses. To that end, a prenup cannot contain any provision that significantly favors one spouse over another, such as a disproportionate property division after divorce."

I think it is different in each state. Where I am they have to have their own independent lawyer review it and sign it as well. And it should be filed in the court. It can protect anything you want it to, apparently. But of course they can always sue you afterwards if things fall apart (anyone can sue anyone for anything in the US). So you won't know if it works until the bottom falls out of your marriage.

What you come into the marriage with also comes into play.  Some states let you keep what you came with.

Trump gave his first wife Ivana $25 million in his pre-nup.

No doubt he also gave his second wife Marla Maples a substantial amount since she still lives rich.

Did state laws had anything to do with Kelce/Swift getting married in NY?

I give their marriage a less than 100% chance of lasting forever.
