I was wondering, they are both great bands, but who wins, Metallica or Megadeth?

Young people just wanna have fun
yes ..but there was rapes & other shit going on.
I mean there was (according to the film) 200,000 people there
the Promotors ripped off people with even water prices & the water that was "free" was later checked & was found to be "shit water" excrement & other bacteria was in there.

Also.... the area for the concert was an ex USAF Base which was huge & the "Fans" were paying 150 Bucks for a space on a runway
the temperatures sky rocketed.. on a stone runway what could go wrong?
all planned

Mustaine vs Ulrich in a fight to the death?
Justice for All is a perfect soundtrack for heavy lifting. And I listened to Countdown to Extinction during countless gym sessions in my teens, fond memories 8)

Metallica. not even close.

Metallica

Who gives a shit. Tired ass old bands neither of who have produced anything interesting in decades.
Ulrich, Hetfield and Mustaine are really unlikeable people too, or at least they used to be when I followed them. They put new meaning in the phrase separate the art from the artist

If they rerecorded it with a modern day production (and bass and proper vocals) it would be one of the greats, instead of what it is a curiousity
-
I will say this, if I were to go for a drink with one of them it would be Mustaine
-
I was wondering, they are both great bands, but who wins, Metallica or Megadeth?
For me, ive always been a big fan of Megallica and Metadeth.

WTF? Have you not heard 72 Seasons? Awesome fucking album!

Metallica for sure, despite pamith's cousin's opinion.
But have to ignore most of the Black Album and everything after it until Death Magnetic.
Last few albums are decent, but nothing really epic like stuff from their first four.

The good stuff is made when an artist is struggling and drugging and drinking. When you come into money you get sober, cut your hair and it all goes to shit.
This new video was one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever seen, except perhaps for some comedic value. Embarrassing lyrics.
This was so much better. These parts still hit the spot...
Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks, rappel down the rocks, behind the lines...
...They killed my wife, and my baby
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake...last mistake!

Astute point.
When they were known as Alcoholica, they were unstoppable.

That's a good point, I think the good stuff comes when they have nothing but music in their lives and do repeated studio/record/tour cycles.
But if you add in money, broads, drugs, cars, boats, planes, Lars Ulrich's stupid ass art collection, or let's consider a less successful band that has to work part time or 9-5 to make ends meet... it dont work.

Huge fan of both band's early material. Saw Metallica headlining on the Master tour with Metal Church in a small venue in 86. Best concert I've seen to this day and I've seen a shit ton of them. Saw Megadeth a couple months ago. Dave needs to retire. Anthrax and Exodus blew them off the stage. Dave's vocals were buried and he had the stage presence of Mick Mars only Mick moves more than Dave.
If I had to pick one band. I'd say 80s Metallica.

Didn't even finish the first song. I will not listen to Hetfield moaning about his parents anymore. That shit was 45 years ago. Get over it dude.

The black album and St. Anger are the only albums I don't care for. I even liked the album they did with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

Made me think of Stephen King, his best books were from that period of his life where he can't even remember writing some of them.

The SFSO album is epic. The S&M 1 version of One is better than the studio version.
Everything between Black and Death Magnetic is shit, with most of Black being shit as well.

I call that album a bunch of JAMS - Just Another Metallica Song - some good, nothing epic. The music equivalent of The Odyssey.
-
Megadeth by far but Metallica was more catchy and easy to follow.
Mustaine & Co. had many absurd songs but when they created their "Rust In Peace" album they delivered something truly outstanding.

I agree re SM1, one of those experiments that paid off. The Load/Reload songs are actually listenable. Outlaw Torn is transformed into an absolute epic.

The R/RL era was they cut their hair, made gay videos and Bob Rock took away their crunch.

I think he's some kind of screeching, insufferable liberal now :D
Drink and drugs are destructive, but as Bill Hicks said...

I mean the few songs they played from those records in S&M. I found the orchestra complemented them well
The records themselves as a whole are a bit laughable

I love Load, Reload and Garage Days.

Garage Days is great.
Were you a fan from inception with them, or did you find them later?
-
Megallica
Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were their best albums.
Didnt like the modern ones.
---
Metadeth
Same with them, Holy Wars / Peace Sells were brilliant
Modern stuff, nah
